The things to do along the Guadalupe River are the fun parts, including Bubba's Back Deck. I was surprised to see a littlle waterfalls, too. It's a pretty view from many fun spots to visit.

No matter if the river is slow or running good, the Guadalupe river is always a good time. I would not bring your kids on certain parts of the river for a couple of reasons. One, some parts of the river have fast currents and rapids. Ask the person you are making reservations with about kids going down the river and which parts are the safest. The second reason I wouldn't take my kids on the weekend would be because of the drinking and other things on the river. I would take my kids to a different part of the river where it's calmer, but during the week during the summer. Take plenty of sunscreen and keep reapplying it hourly! Seriously. nothing worse than a buzz kill from sunburn and blisters. Make sure when you float the river to get a trash sack. The outfitters provide one for you. Stay off of the banks on people's property and if you see te owner of the property outside enjoying their day, try to keep it down and not crazy. The more the land owners complain to the authorities, the more likley they will shut the river down with alcohol. And we don't drink to get crazy, but it sure is relaxing to sit there and float and let the river takeyour worries away with a nice ice cold beverage. Also for your long river trips, take food in baggies and water.

Your view will depend entirely on what you are looking for. If it is a relatively warm, clear, calm ride that you are looking for then, the Guadalupe is not for you. If you want to bring down your body temp pretty quickly and don't mind a few scrapes and scratches from a random "fall" or a slick rock then, jump in and have a blast. Don't hold it against mother nature that some humans don't have an ounce of respect for anything and, if you equip your float with one of the tie on recycle bags and fill it up as you float, we will all thank you.

We go to New Braunfels at least once a year. We always float the Comal. The difference in the 2 rivers is very obvious. The Comal is much cleaner and clearer. The Guadalupe always has moss and weeds floating in it. Its a grn/brown hue and the rocks are very mossy and slippery. The comal is much better.
