“Upscale dining...Beautiful ambiance”
Reviewed April 23, 2014

If you are looking for a Romantic "Top Notch" place to take someone for a special dinner...look no further. I live in Walden and I find it interesting that most people that live there...have never even been here and a lot of people don't realize it is open to the public...Amazing ambiance and Stellar service...You feel very special when dining here...The Sunday Brunch is the best!! Perfect place to take Mom, or perhaps a family reunion...indeed a romantic dinner... By far...You won't see a spread of food like this for the price and the view of Lake Conroe...I recommend reservations...They have relaxed the dress code quite a bit in the past years...Men with collared shirts is still the drill, but now Nice jeans and shorts are acceptable...Just look your best...Not the place to go to if you've been on the lake all day...you would most likely feel really out of place dressed down, and if your dressed "way" down...you may not get in...Highly recommend...Really feel very special each time I go there...

“Best Dining on Lake Conroe”
Reviewed February 9, 2014

One of the few places where luxury, good food and great service still abounds. An excellent selection of Chefs Special dinners this past Saturday Feb. 8, 2014. I didn't see anything on the menu I liked as it was all seafood and ended up ordering the Caribbean Salad with grilled chicken instead of shrimp. At $18.95 it was a lot to pay for a dinner salad. The rest of the party had seafood dishes with the exception of one patron who ordered the ribeye $29.95 commented "It had to be covered in a sauce to taste good."

The only reason I would suggestion going to the club is to hear the wonderful woman that sings there on Friday and Saturday nights.

I would only recommend the Walden Yacht Club for their $12.95 breakfast buffet on the weekend. Not only do you get a scrumptious breakfast, but a beautiful view of Lake Conroe.

“Just So-So; Much Better is Close By”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

This is a tired old restaurant - tired menu, tired preparations of tired classics, aging waitstaff that is still professional if a little slow. Nothing's great here, but nothing's bad either, it is what it is.
BUT, a few miles down the road, Lakeside Restaurant has been open at La Torretta since April, 2013, and they are doing some amazing stuff. Beautiful food, cleverly prepared, two notches up from Walden. True fine-dining, and a gift to those of us who live on the lake.
If you remember Chez Roux at La Torretta, don't worry - Lakeside Restaurant is a whole new take, It's far more reasonable, if still a little pricy, and everything's ala carte. Still, the bill's comparable to Walden and the food's markedly superior, as is the room and the young, knowledgeable service.
An easy choice, and located within spitting distance of each other - Walden will have to up its game if it doesn't want to lose all its customers to Lakeside.

“A dining experience”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

This is a beautiful spot for a restaurant. The lake views could not be lovelier and it is a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere for dining. The service was excellent - attentive yet unobtrusive. The food was quite good. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was the Ocean Grill entree was overcooked. It is a skewer of seafood and, while grilling seafood can be tricky, I do not expect overcooking at this caliber of restaurant. Also the Strawberry Tart was bland and boring. The small berries on top were gelatinous and unappealing. However, the Sea Bass Da VInci was outstanding as was the rice that came with it - kind of a New Mexican rice with corn, black beans and a hint of chili powder. The filet was good and the Mahi Mahi was excellent. The rolls were hot and tasty; the wine was fair to good. The live singer was very good although I would have been happy with quiet background music. It is a long drive from Houston for dinner but I would go again.
