Little Tokyo is a very small Japanese restaurant run by a family. It is located at the end of a strip center and may easily be missed if you do not get specific turn-off instructions. Seating is limited, and on weekends, you often will have a wait. That aside, the food is prepared only after being ordered and is worth the wait. This is not a place to go for "fast/instant" food. It is also staffed by family, so if one or more are not there, patience and understanding (and good manners) go a long way . The restaurant has close seating, so everyone is aware of other customers around them. A disgruntled couple sitting next to us -- instead of excusing themselves and leaving once they realized that one person was taking orders and serving the whole restaurant, and one other was doing all the preparation and cooking -- sat and complained. We would have preferred they leave; however, they remained and had no complaints about the food once served. GO AS EARLY AS YOU CAN ONCE YOU DECIDE TO HAVE A MEAL THERE. Avoid the popular meal hours and plan to spend time between your order and being served. A complimentary bowl of soup is served after your order is taken plus the traditional cleansing cloths -- a nice touch for those who enjoy Japanese food. The dishes other than Sushi are extensive, so those who are not fond of "raw" will have plenty from which to choose. A favorite at our table was the Shaggy Dragon, and the Shrimp Tempura with a nice dipping sauce was gone almost as soon as it was served. A vegan with our group enjoyed the Edamame and the vegetable tempura. Two in our group of 4 had 2 drinks each - beer and wine. We had more food than most people would need -- and the TOTAL was under $45.00 If you like Japanese food, enjoy spending time over a meal with your guests and like a casual Japanese restaurant, we recommend Little Tokyo in the Montgomery area. They have abbreviated hours and are closed on some days -- so check before going, although there are a number of reasonable restaurants within easy driving distance but not Japanese!
