My wife and I ate, or should say, over ate at Cancun Grill last evening. This was our first visit since it remodeled/enlarged at the same location. First, the remodeling affords additional space for tables, for the bar, and for waiting for your table. The new entrance is more accessible and inviting from Wall Street. Because of additional tables, we did not wait for seating even though we arrived at 6:30 on Friday evening. Second, the new space seems rather like a warehouse - large, open, exposed concrete ceiling, noisey. The former space was more intimate and more inviting. Third, quaility of food is exceptional. Do not expect typical Mexican. This menu is more sophisticated which is expected because the owner and chef formerly worked at the Midland Country Club. We started with crab cakes. They seemed slightly overcooked and one was presented in pieces; however, they were delicious. My wife's seafood enchiladas were perfect. The snapper was cooked perfectly and was tasty. Portions were generous. ( Ignore the complimentary chips and salsa to save for the entrees. ) Oh! Exquisite, perfectly prepared margaritas started our dining experience. The dessert menu offers enticing options. We could not resist the tres leches cake which we shared because of our generous entrees. In conclusion, we will return. Delicious food and drink, though pricey, but what isn't pricey in Midland, Texas these day.s Service was attentive and the manager checked on tables. Top of the line in Midland, Texas.
