“Hospitality at its best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2014

Lochshore House is located on the shore of a sea loch on the Isle of Skye. It is tastefully decorated and offers excellent value for money.

From the moment we set foot in the house, we felt welcome in the homely environment. The room with en-suite bathroom is luxurious and inviting and one cannot other than relax in such a tranquil setting and such hospitality from the hosts, Karen and Colin. An ideal setting if you are looking for a quiet peaceful breakaway. The hosts offer an interesting variety of options for breakfast. We experienced Karen and Colin as welcoming, friendly and going out of their way to make our stay a pleasurable one. Lochshore House is highly recommended!

Room Tip: Both rooms have beautiful views of the loch and are decorated very tastefully with emphasis on suppo...

Outstanding B&B - Karen and Colin were fantastic hosts, very warm and generous people who are passionate about what they do and their love of Skye / Hebrides. The rooms were both spotless and well appointed (including bedding better than any 5 star hotel). Highlight was Karen's cooking - very talented. Highly recoommended.

Karen and Colin are incredibly good company whilst allowing guests privacy and a feeling of ease in their lovely croft. The breakfasts are sublime, I highly recommend the french toast with fresh blueberries, and Karen bakes the most beautiful cakes which are a welcome surprise and over and above what is expected as everything at Lochshore house is of a very high standard. The bed is so comfy it is hard to get out for a hill walk, all amenities are excellent and the lounge gallery with telescope is great to have tea and soak up the view, although this is equally great from the bedroom. We were lucky enough to see an otter which Colin spotted and explained how unusual it was at that time of day, both Karen and Colin exude a warmth and passion for Skye and their croft that is infectious and they are very knowledgable about Skye and beyond. We had a fabulous time at Lochshore House, you can't help but leave content and with a smile on your face, and if you are lucky half a dozen freshly laid eggs to make your own french toast when you get home. Don't think twice about booking if you can find some free dates!

Room Tip: We had the bigger room (with bath) and didn't see the other room, however I can't imagine it...

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this wonderful home and stunning location. Karen and Colin have worked really hard to make sure your stay at Loch Shore is memorable and their attention to detail cannot be faulted. They greet you warmly and provide you with a very welcome cup of tea and delicious homemade muffins. The accommodation is of a very high standard and the lounge area outside the bedroom is a great idea as you can properly relax whilst enjoying a lovely view of the water. Enjoyed a hearty breakfast before setting of with a very kind gift of eggs from their own hens. Would thoroughly recommend Loch Shore to anyone visiting Skye. Would definitely return if lucky enough to visit Skye in the future.

Attention to detail is always important. At Lochshore House, details such as these can be found:
Exceptionally comfy bed with high quality bed linen.
Hospitality tray with homemade biscuits and fresh milk daily.
Large bathroom with big shower cubicle and good water pressure.
Fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries.
Great choice for breakfast, all cooked to perfection.
Homemade bread and granola, fresh coffee and amazing eggs.
Add to this a stunning and quiet location and most important of all the warmth of the welcome given by Colin and Karen and Fin the dog and it is easy to understand why Lochshore House is getting such fantastic reviews. A truly memorable experience which we hope to repeat soon!

The location of this B&B made us feel as in another world : it was very quiet and wild, there was no light pollution, so that we could admire the sky and even some shooting stars. The hosts, Karen and Colin, are very nice and welcoming people, always doing their best to please their guests. We had a dinner prepared by Karen, which we really enjoyed. The cooked breakfast was delicious too! And the rooms were decorated with taste, very comfortable and spacious. It was a wonderful stay, we wish we could have stayed longer... We will come back for sure.

An absolutely idyllic place; if you want peace and quiet with spectacular views, this is the place to stay. My wife and I spent a couple of wonderful days here, an ideal location to explore that part of Skye. The hosts Karen and Colin made us feel very welcome and at home in their beautiful house, the rooms were very cosy and comfortable and we felt invigorated after our stay. Lots of good advice on where to visit and explore on the island. Food was delicious (Karen is an excellent cook) and we spent a long time viewing both the daytime scenery, the dark night sky and the particularly amusing ducks and hens by the duck pond. We will be returning soon. Best place we've stayed on Skye.
