booked what we thought would be a relaxing week in a suite in aThomson Platinum 4 star hotel and resort spa which turned out to be an aparthotel complex with self catering options and te suites were self catering apartments !which was not mentioned in any of the Thomson information othewise we would not have booked. We wanted a quiet time and unfortunately the hotel was more suited to families with children and there were lots of them so we had to listen to kids screaming and cryng all day - there was no respite even ithe dining room and on some occasions it was like feeding time at the zoo!! the staff were in the main very pleasant -however even on checking in there were no porters to assist with luggage you are left to fend for yourself and we were given vague directions as to how to find the room which in such a large complex it was etremely confusing. Pool towels were given at the beginning of the week but if you wanted a clean one you were charged 1 euro every time you changed one towel - not what I expect from a supposd Platinum resort. The main restaurant was good and the food was very good - not so good however were all of the broken and ripped sunbeds around the pool areas they were appalling - they did replace the majority of thm with new ones 4 days into the holiday but not all of them. They also go to great length at check in to assure you they would not tolerate sunbeds being reserved but then not once did they carry out the threat of removing towels off any unoccupied beds aftr 10.30 am. Some residents were puttingt towls on beds at midnight and leaving them there unused until the following afternoon whie other people couldnt get a bed and I wold like to say it was all foreigners but it wasnt it was mainly the British!! We would never stay there again - and if you are looking for a high quality relaxing spa resort I would not recommend it - it is probably a good choice for families ut not for couples expecting it to be as it was depicted through Thomson. Very disappointing as this was not a cheap holiday but certainly not worth the money.

Room Tip: no as I wouldnt recommend it the werent really suites just self catering apartments

Everyone is welcome to our hotel: families, couples and even single travellers. There are other properties which focus on one specific group, but we are open to all of them and, as far as I have seen, no brochure or catalogue states anything which may be misleading. Even though our aim is to comply with and even exceed our clients' expectations, we strongly recommend to carefully read what a Platinum property involves in order to avoid that these be too high for what it is actually guaranteed as such. For instance the 1-Euro charge to get a fresh pool towel has nothing to do with being a Platinum property, but with our environmental consciousness, trying to make our clients aware about the waste of our natural resources when we wash a towel which does not really need to be washed. We are anyway considering all the comments and suggestions to improve where necessary and hope to be able to maintain the confidence of all our repeat guests.

The staff at this hotel are excellent but unfortunately overall the holiday experience has dropped rapidly since our last visit 2 years ago.

There are lots and lots of broken sunbeds around the pools, a definite health and safety issue. As the hotel is going all inclusive the food standards have dropped. No fresh orange at breakfast, no decent coffee.

Wine list leaves alot to be desired. Definitely not 5 star or even 4 star anymore, probably give it a 3 star.

The hotel rooms are run down, the towels are grotty and really need replacing. Ants everywhere. No decent soap/showergel in bathrooms. Beds ultra uncomfortable.

We won't be returning to this hotel, which is such a shame as the staff are so good.

We found the location to be ok as it is only a 10 min walk to the beach but the evening entertainment starts too late for families and is sometime inappropriate.

We have have now new resin sunbeds and are taking this opportunity to "recover" some of the older ones, not having had any further issues after their arrival (around 2 weeks ago). There have been many changes in two years for sure, some of them may be understood by some clients as a deterioration in the services, others will find them an improvement, but the wine list has not had any major changes (some additions, actually) and the beds should be as comfortable or uncomfortable as they were 2 years ago. We have not had any relevant comments on the toiletries before, but will anyway test different options and verify if a change is needed. The towels we are using now are very new, but they have not resulted as we thought; we are therefore ordering new ones to another supplier hoping that they will meet our very high standards. Regarding ants we do follow a strict pest control program, but whoever has had ants at home will understand how difficult it is to get rid of them (our wonderful climate and the fact of being next to a golf-course does not help much...), but we obviously just cannot be content with this and will continue putting our greatest effort into fighting them.

Stayed here within the christmas period. Hotel reception had lovely decor with massive tree in middle.
Food was nice, considering im a fussy eater i never went hungry.

pool area was lovely. Rooms were clean and really big, tv however didnt work, but no big issue..

no complaints, short walk to starco and veronicas, but not short enough to walk home in heels!

probably wouldnt stay here again but have nothing bad to say..

An absolutely fantastic hotel and in a lovely location- only a few mins to lovely beaches and the town.
Cannot fault the hotel at all. spotlessly clean, friendly staff, beautiful rooms and views, tasty varied food and a very relaxing spa.
Would definitely go back and would recommend to all ages.

Receiption area - very good , greeted by helpful staff who spoke excellent english , explained everything clearly.

Room - excellent , cleaned daily to a high standard and one of the best sized rooms I have stopped in.

Pool - choice of 2 , however it was Sunbed wars. I was up at 05:30hrs every morning to get the beds and the location. It was fair play , no one left the towels on over night though which was good.

Food - excellent choice and was of a high standard. There was always something for everyone.

Location - about 10 minutes away from Los Christianos and 10 minutes from Las Americas.
I wouldnt bother with the market in Christianos , over crowded and the majority of stalls are just selling rubbish. I would try out Sian Park , excellent day out .

My wife and I held our wedding here. They treated us poorly and tried to keep moving the venue inside to an ugly conference room.

When booking they took our deposit without telling us that they would not let us hold our wedding until well after 7pm. Not really a full wedding day is it??

On the 25th of September, my wedding day. The happiest day of a couples life supposedly, my wife arrived at the Marylanza. She was given the key and sent on my way. Not walked to the honeymoon suit. We had a key dumped onto the reception counter. Things being dumped and left for people to organise themselves seems to be a recurring theme here!

The main insults and problems came about in the disco at the end of the evening. Earlier in the day at 5pm my Father and 2 witnesses entered the disco area to find food laid out, 4 hours prior to the event! What hotel thinks it is acceptable to serve food 4 hours early. It was also uncovered! It is unhygienic and absolutely disgusting in a 4 star hotel. But that wasn’t the biggest insult. The food left to sit and sweat for hours was PORK! Again, which had been stressed to you should never be eaten by or served to a Muslim which the groom and many of the guests were. It’s awful and i could not be angrier about this point.

Our cake was nice. That was the one redeeming factor on the day.

The most disturbing part of all was that we paid 500 euros for a cocktail of beer, wine, soft drinks and juices to be served for 45 minutes at the reception. This was not provided and the Marylanza and Tenerife Sunshine our wedding planners both refuse thus far to return this money to us.

We also paid a 1000 euro deposit for the disco bar. Whatever was taken in the bar on the day should have been returned. This did not happen! I am still in constant correspondence with my wedding planners for the Marylanza to provide a full till reading from the night of my wedding. Again they have not done this.

Also we were promised that our drinks would regardless of spirits etc cost just 4 euro. This was not the case. Some of my guests were extremely shocked to be charged extortionate prices at the bar.

PLEASE PLEASE I cannot stress enough that I would deter anybody thinking of holding a wedding reception here. We found the whole experience upsetting and not only did they ruin our day we believe we have also been robbed of monies which myself and my young family could have used in starting our life together.

The Marylanza Hotel and Tenerife Sunshine AKA Tenerife Wedding Planners ought to hang there heads in shame for ruining something as special as somebodies wedding day and showing absolutely ZERO remorse.

It is amazing how some people (fortunately not too many) think of Tripadvisor as a way to threat or to get revenge. I will not bore with repetitive details which have been explained so many times and in so many ways to this couple and which are of no interest to the rest of the world, but I must say that this review is a total and intentional misrepresentation of a successful event for which we were complimented. However, this is the latest stage of a nightmare commencing when they were refunded the corresponding part of the deposit as per the conditions agreed (suddenly expecting us to refund also drinks which had nothing to do in time or in place with what was discussed). At that point they started with this Macchiavelan “since-you-do-not-give-us-what-we-want-we-will-then-try-to-get-back-all-we-can-no-matter-what-we-have-to-say-and-do” attitude. Our team made every effort to provide them with a wonderful evening and our main mistake was to be so extremely willing to help and so incredibly flexible with their very limited budget, even creating some tailor-made solutions in order to adapt to their otherwise unacceptable requests (like the deposit arrangement, which was offered just to give them the possibility to enjoy the disco just for themselves without them having to pay an open bar, as it should have been under usual circumstances), that at the end this has backfired on ourselves. Anyway I do agree with them: it is disgusting.
