“Near Town but too far from the surf beach”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

I chose this apartment complex because it was not expensive, and I really wanted to avoid shared accomodation. My apartment had a balcony and a sea view.
It is quiet at night. The pool is good and private. The rooms are cleaned every day and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are secure if you use common sense and use the security bar on your balcony door.

I came to Playa de Las Americas to surf, and I wish I did a little more research, because this complex is about a 1-2 mile walk from the surf beaches. And too far and crowded to walk with a board. The Los Cristianos end of town it is a nicer and near to "La Derecha" surf spot..
It's a good place for friends travelling together, couples and family..

Stayed here for a week with friends. We were extremely happy with the place. The aprtment was comfortable and had everything we needed. It was cleaned every day, and staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I was a bit worried first about the distance and hight from the beach, but actually it wasn't bad at all. The pool was heated which we didn't expect. It was great! The bar is cheap, wifi works good. Overall there is nothing bad I can say, I would definitely return to this place. Thanks guys!

Lets get things straight, these are what seem to be predominantly time share or private apartments which are let-out. For that reason there will probably be some discrepancy and variation in conditions and states of repair.
Our apartment was roomy enough, although it would have been tight if two others had been using the bed-settee. The finish was very good and plenty of utensils, hairdryer, iron etc. The only thing lacking was an oven although there was a microwave and a 2 ring hob. Nice touches like washing-up liquid and scourers make a difference.
Bathroom was very nice and constant hot water.
Very large balcony and exterior dining facilities, but even more surprising was an even larger area to the side of the apartment where you could sun-bathe privately if you wished.
The pool area was clean and tidy with enough sun-beds to not warrant the 7am towel run (no I don't). Ok the pool slightly cold, but hey its winter there as well.
The staff were friendly and the bar and 'supermarket' prices were on a par or cheaper than down in the resort. The reception is not open extensively and if you're arriving early/late I'd email and get instructions.
Down side, it is at the top, I would actually say its in San Eugenio Alto. If you have walking difficulties its not for you. However there are courtesy buses several times a day and evening to Duque and Las Americas. We enjoyed the walk, but can well understand some would'nt.
Worth every penny we paid and would visit again, tomorrow preferably.

I found this place to be extremely nice! The hotel was on top of a hill, with a lovely view over Las Americas. One of the best beaches (for me) just a few minutes walk away and supermarkets, bars and restaurants 5-10 minutes walk away. Last time I was in a hotel in the centre of Las Americas, NEVER AGAIN, the noise was sooo bad. :( This place was nice because it is near everything and still peaceful. It was nice to spend a day by the pool and dine in the restaurants nearby. Rooms were clean, staff was friendly, especially David. :) The only thing really was that the walk back to the hill sometimes took it´s toll - but was good for the bum. :)

Room Tip: The ones that have the view over the sea!!!

due to reading some of the comments on here before going to this location i was a bit worried as my mum has treated myself and my partner to a holiday with herself and her partner.

we arrived in a tropical storm and had an 8 hr delay in total which wasn't a great start but we found the accommodation easy enough we got there about 6 pm and was panicking as we were told the reception would be closed by then, they do close about 8 pm and i'm not sure if anyone is on call after that.
other than that the reception staff couldn't be more helpful my mum asked one morning if there was an excursion that day she had said she wasn't sure so rang a local firm and by 1 pm being picked up and going on a boat trip to see the dolphins and had meals and drinks thrown in !!!

the accommodation

we both had a one bed apartments yes they were both a bit tired looking but they were all equipped with normal everyday uses TV,cooker shower etc yes there was a broken tile i think one of the pics that has been shown e.g bedroom and balcony is the same as the one i stayed in
can not fault the cleaners they were there nearly everyday and were brilliant

yes they do lock gates at night time but only for your security you are supplied with a key to it so able to get in and out as u please
we used the security bar as its just laid along the rail at the bottom of the patio doors

*paradise court is on a hill but about 15 min walk to supermarket and we just used to get a taxi bk as only costed about 4-5 euros from the beach*

Room Tip: book early to avoid disappointment and make sure you account for taxis as the hill can be daunting a...

After reading the various reviews on these apartments we were really nervous about going and to be honest they totally took the shine off our trip which was booked for us by a relative. Needless to say, we went along armed with rubber gloves, etc. However, we were pleasantly surprised!

We hired a car due to the nature of previous reviews regarding how far the apartments were away from the beach, restaurants, town, etc, but this for us was rather a waste of money! It is about a 15 minute walk to the beach and probably a 20 min walk home due to the fact you are going uphill and not down! We did this walk twice a day, once to the beach and back and then out again in the evening for dinner. In the middle of the day it's hard work due to the heat but a taxi is only between about 3 or 4 euros if necessary and every taxi driver we used knew exactly where it was.. However, on every website it tells you it is on a hillside location so we expected a bit of a walk into town.

We drove to the apartments from the airport with no idea of where we were going but we got there in the end (would recommend hiring a sat nav if you hire a car) and were greeted very pleasantly by both the lady on reception & the barman. We were told of everything about the apartments and advised to have a safe which we paid a deposit of about 15 Euros for and we made sure anything of value was stored in here, day & night, whether we were there or not. We would ALWAYS hire a safe abroad where ever we were. We were also given keys to the front gate as when there are no staff there these are locked as the complex is residential (although there is information on the gate of where to go if arriving when the reception is closed with phone numbers and taxi numbers).

When getting to our apartment we were thrilled, it was really big with everything you could possibly want from shampoo/shower gel to every cooking appliance u may need, plenty of toilet roll, towels, bedding, etc. The apartment was spotlessly clean, had a lovely big balcony, tv (you have to pay a deposit for remote) and was very modern. Probably the most modern apartment we have stayed in abroad. There is some waste land around the apartments so I would definitely advise keeping your doors shut and locked at night (although we would do this whether abroad or in England) and there are details on patio doors stating to keep the doors locked and security bar down at night or when not in apartment... There were bars on the bedroom window of our apartment so we could have the window open at night, although we didn't need this as we had the ceiling fans on which were brilliant. We were told if we had any problems with the apartment the maintenance team would be there within 40 mins so We would suggest if there are any problems then to ask!

When we arrived at the apartments it was a Spanish bank holiday so there were a few residents around the pool but there were plenty of sun loungers and the pool is again spotlessly clean. Everybody was very friendly.

When walking down into the town or the beach there is quite a lot of dog mess around, but this is not the hotels fault, in fact they do not allow dogs on the complex. Please don't forget these apartments are "off the beaten track" so to speak so you will find a lot of locals walking their dogs (generally not on leads) and they don't have rules like we do in England, it was around the waste land so just look where you walk!

Overall, the reviews on these apartments really put a damper on the run up to our holiday but we would definitely go again, we found everything as is advertised (and I checked every possible site!), the staff were friendly and helpful and these apartments shouldn't be penalised for things beyond their control... We are very fussy holiday makers, would refuse to stay anywhere we felt unsafe, unclean or uncomfortable but we would definitely go back here.

These apartments probably would not be ideal for children because of the walk to the beach, etc but if you hire a car (we paid £75 for a week) or are happy to get a taxi then they would be fine.

Room Tip: We had a one bedroom apartment (number 4) which was massive, immaculately clean, modern and very wel...

The apartment name and their own information is completely misleading. We expected a luxurious apartment, near to the beach with mod cons and 'designer furnishings'. What we, in fact, got was a dated apartment with a fan that didn't work properly, broken tiles on the floor, a windowless bathroom with no ventilation and a view from the balcony of a building site. The walk to the beach and town was unbearable and the walk back up incredibly steep hills was even worse, especially pushing a buggy. When we decided to get a taxi, on three separate occasions the taxi drivers (supposedly) didn't have a clue where the apartments were. A lot of what was advertised as included didn't exist, a VCR, for example, the tv was old with bad reception, I would go on but basically the whole thing was a bitter disappointment.

As we checked in, we were told to shut the patio door as there are robberies. So we did, every time we went out, we shut the balcony door and put the security bar down. When we were in, due to the fan not working, we opened the patio door and went about our business. As I had my one year old daughter with us, and the cot booked with room hadn't been provided, I slept in the bedroom with my daughter and the working fan and my friend slept on the sofa by the open patio door. In hindsight, we should have demanded to move rooms to one with a working fan, we had been given this particular room as there were less steps to get to it with the buggy. We didn't think much of it as we were on the first floor and my friend, all six foot three of him, was on the sofa by the door. So we felt safe enough to keep the patio door open while we were in there.

On the third morning, we woke up to find that someone had been in during the night and robbed us, my laptop, my bag with my phone, camera and purse and my friend's wallet from by the tv. It was incredibly distressing to think that someone had been into our apartment and robbed us while we were asleep, AND while my one year old daughter was with us. I can only assume they didn't come into the bedroom and thank goodness. It then came to light, through another tourist, that they spray you with a gas to knock you out and keep you asleep. I don't know how much of this is speculation but my friend was incredibly groggy when he first woke up and didn't know what was going on.

When reporting the situation to the reception, he just started going on about the security bar. Again, I stress, we were on the first floor and we were in! I can only assume they were fully aware of how these people operate and didn't see fit to fully warn us. Then, to add insult to injury they wouldn't let us change rooms on the Monday, the day this happened, as the reception wasn't open. Luckily the police arrived over 24 hours later to do fingerprint tests, so pretty useless. We checked out early and again, the only thing that was mentioned was the blessed security bar.

The experience was just horrible, generally I wouldn't recommend Tenerife as robbery is rife on the island and this particular area is a robbery hotspot. However if you do come to the island, do not stay at these apartments, it will only ruin your holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a working fan or no balcony.
