Got back yesterday from the Ponderosa.Went there wondering what i had let myself in for.
Room was fine, a bit chipped at the edges but clean and comfy enough.Maid only comes every 2 days, no big deal
Food was ok,selection might have been better some days but overall it was fine
Entertainment was not great but who really cares about that?
Drinks and service were good and staff cheery
Pool area sunbeds had great mattresses .There were not a lot of sunbeds but this was not a problem in January

If people want to nitpick then there is plenty to nitpick about however this is my 3rd trip to Tenerife and this was the best hotel out of the 3
The Ritz it is not but i found it to be great value for money

We have just come back and I just had to put the record straight. After reading so many poor reviews of this hotel before going I was quite concerned about what I might find upon arrival. I could not have been more pleased. A late night arrival was greeted by cheerful staff and fruit, rolls and water as the restaurant was closed. Room was clean and well appointed. All the staff were brilliant, as we had a 10 month old who was unhappy with being in a high chair for more than ten minutes. The staff kept her entertained so we could eat. The food could not be faulted continental and full english breakfasts with enough selection to have something different. Lunches and dinners were fantastic, a good selection of meat and fish dishes with muscles and paella on some nights. Really nice coffee and fruit juice at all meals too.
Pool and bar areas were great (pool a bit chilly but it was january ).
Entertainment every night was quite good too, a reptile show one night and a parrot show another and the best a bird of prey display.
Transport links were good, a bus station in the road behind got us from the airport in 35 mins for just under 5 euros. The 111 or 473 to costa adeje for anyone interested. One of the other reviews said the hotel had a change of management recently I can only say that the current team are doing a great job and I think they are doing a bit of renevation as we did hear some works going on during the day but certainly not noisy. A return visit is certain for us 5*

Me , my boyfriend and some other frinds stayed in this hotel for 8 nights all inclusive. We had an amazing time. The rooms are very basic and got kitchenette which we did not really use i have to mention when i was booking the hotel it says the room has got airconditioning but we didn't have and it also said there are iron and hair dryer in the room we didn't have them either. Our room was cleaned every 2 days and sometimes they didn't use to change the towels thats all the bad news.
It tooks us 5 minutes to register on the reception and we went straight to the restaurant and lucky enough there was still some food left from lunch.Overall the food was nice sometimes repetative but that is normal i recon there was a choice of 6-7 meals for lunch and dinner and english breakfast in the morning with fruits and choice of stuff for sandwiches. The staff was always polite and smile all the time. The free drinks were good normaly me and my friend had the cocktail sex on the beach or irish cream the staff is not stingy and you can get 2-3 cocktails at a time and go back to your room if you want.Almost every night they had entertainment at the hotel. One night they had parrots from the Loro Park show who was playing different tricks next night they had birds of prey from the other animal park in Tenerife third night they had snakes and spieder exhibition. The bar had music till midnight and then shut. The hotel was very quiet
when we went ( 23/06/2010 to 1/07/2010) in the last few days it started getting busy. The hotel got 2 pools quiet clean we were using the smaller swiming pool because the water was warmer then the other pool.Forgot to mention the location is good 5 minutes from the town center 10 minutes from Veronicas and 10 minutes to Siam Water Park.We had an amazing time in Tenerife i would go back to this hotel because is good value for what we get and you cannot expect luxury at a 3 star hotel.

Our room had an excellent sea view. The room was good overall. The gala dinner for New Year was very good with steak and fresh salmon etc on offer. The breakfasts were brill and were my favorite meals. Lunches and dinners were also pretty good with something for everyone. I always found something that I liked. Lets face it, you aren't going to go in for your meal every time to find that everything on offer is your favourite food.

We did struggle to get a good nights sleep as the beds were rubbish.

There was never any problems with waiting or queuing for drinks at the bar. The pool areas were smallish but we always managed to get a sunbed when we went down to the pool area in the afternoon. This might not be the case in the summer during the high season.

We found the reception staff to be cheerfull and helpfull. We held on to our room on our last day for 3 euros an hour which we felt was very reasonable.

The restaurant staff were really friendly and efficient. They were very quick taking our drinks order once we had taken our seat.

The maid serfvice was every second day and was fine.

The only complaint slight complaint that I would make in relation to the staff is that the barman in the pool bar was very abrupt and unfriendly. I am always pleasant when asking for anything yet he still managed to be offhand and grumpy. I heard numerous other guests saying the same thing.

All in all we enjoyed the experience and would go back again.
