We have just returned from the Parque La Paz celebrating my 50th birthday with my wife, kids. mum. dad and my mischievous bro. wife and kids.

we have used the hotel since the world cup in 1998 and have been coming backing regularly.Unfortunately it has slipped down in my estimation as we came on an all inclusive basis and found the food very ''cafeteria'' in quality and I am sure the drinks are watered down as I drank gallons of vodka on my birthday and went to bed reasonably sober ???

Van Elliott was our entertainment guy who was brilliant, and produced some good acts, but did produce some duds who wanted to fleece the audience of cash i.e. the parrot and snake shows, who spent most of their time passing the birds/animals round the folks and asking for cash for pictures before presenting a poor show in terms of entertainment value.

Daytime with Van was great, pool volleyball, quiz and banter. We loved Charlie (his dad who was at the pool most days)

LA PAZ.................. listen to your regulars, sack Giovanni (sour faced grumpy waiter) make the food a lot better, make Tomas the boss and remember we pay the cash to come to you, give us a bit more Spain for our Euro and less Dels Cafe or we might just go somewhere else.......................its a big resort out there............Parque Santiago is calling ?????????????

Andres ..........you are the man

Room Tip: basic, but clean and comfortable

Just returned from LA Paz after a 2 week stay with my husband, daughter her boyfriend and my mum.The hotel is 3 * and a great complex which caters for everyones needs,The rooms are ok with big balconys which is a bonus.
We stayed in rooms 423 and 424 on the 4th floor, we did have a few issues with the kettle and coin operated tv, but after 3 issues it finally got sorted.
The entertainment is a good mixed variety and Van, does his upmost to keep everyone entertained through the day and brings top shows on a night.
The biggest bug bare I had with this hotel was the sunbeds, its just Impossible to get one, they are all taken by 7.30am in a morning, so we had to make do with the old plastic white ones and sit on the sun terraces.
On our first day after arriving we found that the swimming pool was out of bounds and had to be closed for 12 hours and be treated with chemicals, beacuse some IDIOT decided to poo in the pool. Infact this happened twice during our stay and apparently its not the first time neither, so when things like this happen, you are allowed to use the swimming pool next door in the Adorra hotel.
The food is ok,although we found much better places to eat and drink which were cheaper too.
The bar staff were great and nothing was never too much trouble for them, However not all can be said about some of the receptionists!.
We travelled with Thomas cook and our rep was Natalie who is always avaialble at the hotel 6 days out of the 7 and is very approachable. There is an array of trips to choose from, firsdtly the "free trips"-by PAL Tours, these are BLANKET TRIPS a presentation about beds and lambs wool products,A bit boring but after the presentation you stop of at a little village for refreshments and also try some tasters of cactus jam and palm honey, then off into the mountains to see the old Lava flows and then visit the only 17th century church thats still remaining, its an ok trip I suppose and ideal if you want some shade for a few hours. Our tour guide was Kev, daft as a bloody brush ha ha.
Another freebie is Diamond Resort, all they want is 2 hours of your time so they can show you round their resort and then you get given a voucher for 60 euros to redeem off any trips you want to book,
The weather has been very hot, well above 32 degrees, and you certainly do need a high factor sun lotion. There is a lady from Suncare who talks about Aloe Vera Sun lotion and how it prevents burning etc, mind you it does cost 20 euros a bottle but does work.
The nearest beach is about 3 minutes walk away, but be warned as the sea is covered with horrible big rocks and boulders so watch your toes.We did discover another beach Playa vista about 7 minutes walk away a little bit further round but is fantastic with plenty of water sports available, and it only costs 9 Euros for 2 sunbeds and a brolly, where as on the rocky beach its 15 euros.
There is plenty of nightlife and shops on the door step so you are really spoilt for choice, theres even a great mini golf course and also one inside Vivo near the strip.Depending what room you are allocated it can be bery noisy at night till atleast 2.45am when the bars close around the hotel, but the Veronica strip is open all night
Taxis are quite cheap-8 euros to Costa Adeje market on a thurs/sat 9 till 2pm great for presents at bargain prices, and a must if you enjoy haggling.
The buses are cheap and realiable, 6.20 euros for 5 people to Los Christianos.
All in all, Tenerife is a nice place, and I would certainly return.

Stayed there in July 2011 and it is just amazing! group of four young girls, a good mix of families and young groups of people, food was really good, clean and tidy, frindly staff and very helpful. The entertainer van was good, and the thomas cook reps, especially natalie, were just amazing. Had an amzing holiday, 5 mins walk to the beach and 10 mins walk to veronicas, the main strip at night. would definetly recommend to anyone!

Good location on the edge of las Americas / Los Christianos - close to beach and numerous resturants We went self catering - apartment was clean and spacious but a little dated, room was cleaned + towels changed 5 days out of our 8 day stay. Yes there was noise from the evening entertainment both from the nearby British strip of bars and also the hotel entertainment when we returned from an evening out to sit on the balcony but it wasnt terrible - just your usual 'british singers / entertainers in Spain' & had usually ended by midnight. There is a supermarket less then 10 mins walk away which has good selection of basics and also stocks gluten free food. There is free car parking at the hotel for the hire car. The best beach we found is towards los Christianos (in front of the VinterSol injury /rehab unit - very clean and no rocks in the sea(not in the shallow water anyway!) Hadn't been to Teneriefe for 8 years - pleasantly surprised at the improvement in the area, much cleaner, no time share touts and more family / couples orientated, there are more drinking only type bars further into las Americas, next to the hotel there is a strip of about 8 british/ irish bars but a few minute walk away it was definately more for family + couples enjoying evening entertainment on a street cafe bar Ask for a room with sea or pool views as some look over the main road whcich I imagine to be quite noisy.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea or pool view as some overlook the main road

On arrival the receptionist wasn't too inviting, was given a handful of stuff to read about the hotel, how to upgrade & when the rooms were cleaned etc, this stated we would get our towels changed twice a week and our linen once a week and there would be no cleaner on one day, we had one towel change- which weren't terribly fresh, no linen change, with no air con in the room, this was poor, the room was generally grubby, even after housekeeping had been, our feet were dirty all week, we had a problem with ants in our room and although we reported it they stated they would deal with it, but it was never cleared, were advised not to worry about them, we also had a cockroach (our room was on the 1st floor). The food was pretty average, my children ate chips & bread all week as there wasn't alot of choice for them, The entertainment was loud and went on until very late and could be heard everywhere! The outside areas were lovely, although the pool area could have done with being bigger. I think the interiors need tidying up and a little upgrading would be beneficial- eg air con. Oh and have no idea what the pay per view tv was about! There was the chance of renting a fan or air con unit for a small fortune, We booked with Thomson and had no rep assisted transfer or on site, i could go, but i think you get it!

stayed at hotel 26-4 july 2011, arrived at 8.30p.m., small que at reception, reception manned by one person(during the week saw regularly 2 on desk), i would agree that sometimes the staff appeared grumpy/surly, this man was no diffo, when we were 2 from the front, the man was having a laugh with the couple in fronts 2-3 year old, on our turn it was "no problem sir" and "of course " , (after dinner, we just made it in , the same receptionist had an irate customer raisin his voice at the desk over cockroaches ,I BELIEVE THIS IS A PROBLEM/COULD BE A PROBLEM IN THE AREAS ON THE GROUND FLOOR WITH GARDENS OUT SIDE,the man said his bit and was storming off, he was called back with a "senor", and the receptionised apologised an assured the man it would be sorted out or he would be moved, he was calm and polite. STAFF WERE / ARE HELPFUL IN THIS HOTEL ON MY VISIT,. we stayed half board, there was a thomas cook rep, and a skin care advisor, go to the talk, about trips and eating, general info( you can listen in if you sit at side if not with this company) especially the skincare advisor, my tan is the better for her advice, the hotel is in a good part of town on the way down to americas plaza, are rolex and bulgrari, hugo boss shops, everywhere was lovely and clean, almost all street side bars cafes have live music,. Before we went i tried to look in to what trips entertainment we might go on, after arriving i found out about the submarine safari(there is a web site, and it would have saved me 40 euro for our group of 4 to book and print of tickets before we arrived, went on it anyway and enjoyed it.) the medieval night( again the cost was the only thing that put me of, but looked good fun) we ate out twice(the rep advised the restaurants above the fountains at america plaza ) we strolled round all from japennes to mexican, and picked the thai one, we had a fantastic meal and service(we also got a discount of 10% with our green banana card, get one). On last night we went to the strip, and up the hill past the large iberostar hotel was a chinese buffet restuarant staffed by all young staff, they could not have been nicer, crispy duck starter (not on the buffet menu, we chose from the main), excellent. We had meals, snacks breakfast at hotel, food was good to very good, upgrades are available on arrival they are well advertised and accurately priced elsewhere on reviews. NO air conditioning, but we slept all week no bother, at reception all fans etc can be hired for week, T.V. has a coin slot, thats were all our 10-50 cent coins went to get rid of them, un plug t.v. from wall when not in use as it uses up money wether turned on or not, and bring your leads to play portable dvds on screen.Van Elliot......., the marmite man, you either love him or loath him, i was a bit surprised at his age , but he will tell you about his young kids so he is defo very willing, he worked tirelessly from 10ish in the morning, to 11ish at night, he can sing , hes quick of the mark with comments, and he gives most of the people what they want,we particularly enjoyed his pop quizs, he encouraged folk to join in then, remembered the ones that would take part so he had willing helpers and free entertainers for the watchers, unfort this sometimes looks like he has favourites, the lifeguard beside the pool also comes in for credit as he lets very little go , but does not spoil the fun, its controlled, esential when all ages are involved, would we go back, yes, we had a good hotel/holiday, value for money, entertainment, in english , spacious rooms (2 bed, living room also sleeps 2), kitchen, fridge, fantastic weather , plenty going on in town/bars/area. Last thing, a super market is across the roadalmost in a straight line from the hotel road entrance(either go across the waste ground, with wooden steps, or go left up hill to round about and right up hill, ones at back of hotel and at plaza are double price. FINALLY, MY OLDEST DAUGHTER ALWAYS WANTED A TATOO, AND I CRACKED AND LET HER HAVE IT, SHE GOT A SMALL ROSE AND HEART ON HER FOOT, NORMALLY I WOULD HAVE REVIEWD AND RESEARCHED IT TO THE HILT, BUT SHE CAUGHT ME OUT, it was done at a small studio named "by the face" that was to the rear of the hotel, while we were there i saw him do 4 other ones all good quality,(needles changed , licence holder, cleanliness) iam sure they are all ok but this guy i saw in action an i grudingly reccomend.

Room Tip: unplug tv not in use, book tickets in uk,enjoy usel
