Having sampled the more " up market " restaurants in Playas de las Americas including the Thai , the steakhouse, the Italian etc etc, we decided to go to the Cabana Bambou on the basis of the excellent reviews seen on Trip Advisor. We were certainly not disappointed - we found the atmosphere and the traditional food served up by Nico and Fan fan to be a breath of fresh air in the glitzy world of Tenerife. We opted for the Selection of Tapas as recommended by Nico and it was so tasty and so flavoursome washed down with excellent wine and the cost was very reasonable. It was so good we had to return before we went back to Scotland and our palates were treated to an equally superb menu as well as some excellent cabaret from the local musician as well as Nico himself. As we are from the Western Isles, we toasted each other with the Hebridean toast of Slainte Mhath which was picked up by a very aware Nico who asked whether we were Scots or Irish. Very well picked up. We will be returning to Tenerife and we certainly will be returning to the Cabana Bambou.
