Apartamentos Caribe
Reviewed January 18, 2009

I travelled here with 9 other friends all of us aged 18 and 19! So we got there at about 5pm and the sun was still shining and it was blazing hot! When we got to the front desk we didn't really have to wait that long as my friends and I ran ahead of the other 60+ guests!! They took our passports and said we could collect them the next day (which I thought was a bit dodge). The safe was €30 or something like that but well worth the money.

The hotel itself is ok I guess. Nothing to write home about but not shabby either. Its just there. The rooms were a bit 80ish but one of my friends room was actually much bigger and nicer in comparison to mine, which was next door!? The kitchens are ridiculously small but I thought the way they had a breakfast bar was cool. We didnt really use the kitchen much anyway.

The room was big enough I guess with 2 single beds and an average sized wardrobe. The bathroom was modern in comparison to the rest of the apartment with a nice powerful shower! The best thing about our rooms were the fact we were on the third floor in the centre of the block. We had the most amazing views of the beach and sea which is only a 5min walk max. down the road.

The receptionist is a rude cow and doesn't have any personality at all. What can you expect though when the manager is even worse. He ordered us a taxi one night and told us he had negotiated with the taxi man to charge us €30 for a destionation half an hour away. The taxi man charged us €80 and the manager lied to us saying he had never said anything about a €30 fare. So watch out for him.

The pool is lovely and always has plenty of available beds around it. The only bad thing is that all the apartment balconies look over onto it and you feel really self conscious when your in it as all the people seem to like watching you swim? The food in the restaurant is ridiculously overpriced and ming, dont eat there.

We ate out at a different restaurant each night. Hooters food was quite nice but expensive-ish. You can get a meal in some places for real cheap but seen as we got our drinks for free pretty much every night we tended to splash out on food!

We got our drinks for free as when you are walking down Veronica's strip (the main strip where all the clubs and bars are) there are about 10 reps working for each club. There are about 30 clubs and bars so you can imagine how many reps there are! What they do is hassle you and promise you the moon and the stars (in drinks!) to come to the club. They get a euro for each person they get to come in which is why they are so eager and forceful. Our first night there was quite daunting. The reps pounce on you from all angles and WILL NOT take no for an answer! One rep literally picked me up, put me over his shoulders and started squeezing me until I agreed to go to his club!

In the end we went to 'Flirtz' which is a disco 60's themed club which is hilarious! We all got 2 free cocktails, 2 pitchers of cocktails and a shot each for free just for going in! When we finished all them and had to start buying our drink, we were pleasently surprised at how cheap it was!
Don't bother going to Linekers. The reps there are the only ones that actually lie to you about getting free drink. Once they get you in, the go off where you cant find them and dont bother getting you the free drink promised to you!!

On the way home, you have to walk up 'the hill' which is actually grand to be honest. Not a bother at all. We always stopped off at 'Mr Cut' - a 24hour discount store which sold cheap drink!!

You have to sneak it back in as the security in the hotel are REALLY STRICT about the no noise after 11pm rule. We had security called to our door almost everynight. Fair enough some nights we were loud, but other nights when we were quite they came anyway. Seriously, there's no escaping them!

The cleaners came every second day and did an alright job I suppose. There were a good few cockroaches found in all of our 4 rooms, and we are all very clean people!!

On check-out, security checks your room to see if any damage is done and then radios down to reception to give them the all clear. If it is left in an acceptable state you get your €100 deposit back. Some people had the police called on them because their room was so bad!

All in all, it was a fantastic holiday. And I definetely would have to say The Caribe was a major contributor to that. Its in THE PERFECT location, not too close or too far from everything!

Definetely wouldn't recommend it for older people or families as you would feel and be TOTALLY out of place!

We had a really good stay there. Apartments are really clean and spacious. We had new towels every day. Staff is really helpful. We also had no problems there with a noise, it was quite, might be because we went there of season. Location is great, about 5 minutes from Siam Park. Do not drink in the bar as they charge double rate, there is a supermarket around the corner, so you can get there everything you need. Safe is 15 euros per week, but we didn’t use that, also TV is 1 euro per day, but we actually do not had a time to watch that, so we never got it.
Overall, very good for it value. Will stay there again.

The apartments are very basic indeed but we paid £45 a night for an apartment that sleeps 3 so can't complain at all - it costs virtually nothing!

Fixtures and fittings of the hotel are basic, as I say. The beds are "no expense spent" but were surprisingly comfortable. They quickly sorted out a problem with our showerhead and other than that the bathroom was lovely.

Kitchen didn't have any bowls aside from a mixing bowl which I used for my cereal each morning - all adds to the charm! There wasn't an electric kettle, just a hob kettle - very retro!

Living room area was fine, TV was small and all TV is pay per view but only 3 Euros a day and you get several good channels including Sky Sports 1. There isa small balcony on every room.

Always found the staff behind the reception desk helpful.

Pool area was nice and when we went we didn't have any trouble getting a sun lounger. There is a tennis court at very reasonable 6 Euros an hour, except that no-one else was playing so we just stayed on as long as we wanted. Take your own rackets if you're keen though as their ones are pretty poor!

There are millions of supermarkets all around so there's no problem picking up supplies if you are self catering.

It's a pleasant walk into town for restaurants and bars although you will be constantly bothered by people trying to get you into their bars at night. There are always blokes selling sunglasses and watches on the streets. Just politely tell them "no"!

It's also within walking distance of the Aqua Park - about 20 mins. Not an amazing park but a good way to spend a day and a bit of fun with a dolphin show thrown in to the price. There are a few good rides there.

The Banana Garden cocktail bar is good (quite cheesy) and a short distance away. Despite the name it's not the kind of bar you may think!

me and my boyfriend both aged 22 stayed at the caribe for a week as we wanted a cheap party week, we only payed about £10 per night and were very suprised with what we were given our hotel room was basic and clean, the maids were very friendly and cleaned the room everyday! the reception staff we very arogant towards us, we didnt have to pay a deposit as i noticed on here some people did! The pool was quite a big size an extremely clean ( but no life guard for the children) the mini golf was a bit of a let down aswell it was 4 euro per person per game! The bar in the hotel is only open till about 6pm and there is no entertainment at all.... In our room we didnt have a kettle or toaster so we were makin our toast in a frying pan without oil and a cup of tea by heatin water on the hob! we couldnt be bothered to go down and get loads of aggro of the reception staff as they look at you as though you are stupid! Although i wouldnt go back to tenerife ( not because of the hotel) i would reccomend the hotel to any age or family.

i went to Caribe Aptos. In august. i booked it through a very late deal with Travelrepublic.com i had such a great time, the worst thing about the caribe is probably the entrance and reception, as i arrived at night it seemed a little cramped and a bit old School. but in the morning i realised it just wasn't very bright. And that is the only thing i can honestly pick at. The Pool was a nice big size with a great amount of beds if you wanted to stay round the pool. There was a little bar with some pleasent canarians happy to help. there was a mini golf and a tennis court. which seemed sparse but if you like that stuff it would have been great for you. The rooms, the room was spacious with a television(which worked if you read the instructions on channel 1) a nice comfy futon, really good kitchen appliances, extremelly comfy beds, clean bath and shower and toilet. and a lovely maid who was chirpy and not moody to see you if you came to pick something up.the balcony, if you're staying on one of tyhe top floors it is high but extremelly amazing to enjoy the view you can see right across las americas and the Ocean. the area, it was a five minute walk from the blitz of the night life and five minutes down the hill to the beach. it was was only a walk away from shopping centres, supermarkets and cafe's. I really enjoyed the Caribe and too be honest it isn't the ritz but if youre wanting a comfy place to stay around the magic of tenerife then this is perfect, i would definetly stay again.

tenerife was my best hol ever.
it was my first hol with my soon to be hudband.not exactly central but very close to all the going ons. 5 mins walk. loved waking in the morn and heading to the brazenhead for brekkie, well reccommended.brazenhead also great for night time entertainment. stevie g kareoke was brill. one night after a night out the cab driver tried to rip us off. the night porter came out took his details once he saw us having trouble with the driver. he gave us loads of tips on how to deal with them. basic hotel great value for money and highly recommended
