Just spend a fabulous long weekend at the Bitacora and loved every minute. Upgraded to enjoy a beautiful terrace overlooking Playa de las America's. Staff were amazing, plenty food available all day long and the waiter/waitress serving branded drinks made it a perfect, relaxing break for the four of us. Would definitely recommend and will definitely go back. Well done guys!!

Another excellent stay at the Bitacora. Excellent staff, food and facilities. Booked direct with the hotel which meant a free taxi to and from the airport. Every where was beautifully clean and well maintained. I must say the pool was too cold for me to swim....

Room tip: Pool facing rooms get more sun

Dear Sue,
thank you very much for your rating and for sharing your experience on Trip Advisor with other travelers. Sorry to read that the temperature of our heated swimming pools was not suitable for you, but more than 28degrees it is not allowed by law.
Hope to have the pleasure to welcome you back again.
Sunny regards from Spring Bitácora Hotel!

My wife and I have just returned from a week away with our family and really enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and very clean. Our room was on the 4th floor facing away from the pools which was nice and quiet.

The food was very good and varied and the waiters were absolutely amazing! (there was one guy who was quite brash clearing the table though). Really nice friendly people who were great with the 2 young children we had staying with us.

The only things that were slightly annoying was that there is no kettle in the room even though we were all inclusive, and you have to pay to use the safe that's in the room.

Kids entertainment in the evenings was very good.

Overall very good and would recommend.

We are 2 adults, 15 year old daughter and 12 year old son stayed here week commencing 7th Dec 2019 on Half Board basis.

Hotel Bitacorra on first impressions, upon arrival is a lovely, clean and well maintained hotel.
It is a great place to stay if you are a couple staying on all inclusive as all the rooms are the exact same size, unless you pay for interconnecting rooms.
The reception is beautifully arranged, spacious and clean.

Food is buffet style and adequate for a 'cafe' style dining experience.

The hotel is 'cashless' so you have to keep going to reception to pay your balance. This move by the hotel is, in my opinion a wrong move for people on half board basis, ok if you are all inclusive.

There are 2 pools, and plenty of sunbeds but the beds around the main pool are always reserved, we didnt mind this as the smaller pool suited us and was quieter.

The staff on reception are precise and straight forward on the information they give you, but there is not enough information given to help you understand what you actually receive on half board basis.

The hotel is first and foremost an All Incusive hotel, and this slowly becomes evident when you explore your room which has no facilities for making yourself a hot drink(Kettle provided if all inclusive), and there is a lock on the fridge door(free if All Inclusive). The room itself is very nice and clean, and is ideal for a couple with sufficient storage space. The feeling you get is that the hotel are trying to push you to upgrade to All Inclusive, but we are not big eaters or drinkers so this would not suit us, and we enjoy our own space in the room.

Unfortunately, we were given this room as a family of 2 adults and 2 children(15 year old daughter and 12 year old son). We lived mainly out of suitcases for the 7 days as there was insufficient storage for clothes, shoes or toiletries, our room was always messy with things lying around with nowhere to put them. The balcony was tiny with only enough space for 2 plastic chairs and table. We did ask for another 2 chairs which were brought to the room, but it was very tight to get in and out. There was no lock on the bathroom door which again suggests to me this room is for a couple and not a family. We immediately raised our concerns with reception who straight away offered us the adjoining room, this left us very pleased with the hotel, but then the receptionist turned to us and said it will be just under €800 euros for the remainder of the week as if money wasn't an issue here. We had to decline the offer and walked away feeling shamed that we could not afford to pay the money.
We made the best of the situation and got on with our holiday, but in the meantime I emailed the hotel direct several times with my disappointment in the room size. In total I sent 5 emails with no reply to any of them. At one point I did mention this to the reception and I suggested that they must not have received them, to which they replied,"No, we did receive them"

I asked how much it would be to upgrade to All Inclusive for us so we could have a cuppa throughout the day and have chilled drinks. We were told because our children are both over 12 years of age they would have to pay adult price! This worked out very expensive so we again declined there offer.

We seen advertised on a screen in the lift you could upgrade to a room with a large terrace so we enquired about this. The room was the same size but with a larger outside area giving you the feeling of more space. We were given a price of €60 euros a night for us as a family. We only had 3 nights left so after a couple of hours of consideration we decided we could afford the last 2 extra nights at a cost of €120. We went to reception and there was a different member of staff on and he booked us in for this upgrade, I asked him to confirm the price of €120 And he replied 'No it is €140' I told him we were given a price of €120 And he said 'No, he's colleague made a mistake and it's €140. At this point I was frustrated and phoned the Jet2 helpline and they stepped in to assist me, only to come back and say 'No, the €140 price is a mistake too, it should be €160. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, they explained we would have to pay for 4 adults as our children were over 12. I asked how can you charge us for 4 adults when the room does not take bookings for 4 adults, only 2 adults and 2 children(or 3 adults and 1 child under 12) At this point we hit a brick wall with all the reception staff and manager at the hotel and felt like outcasts in the place.
After very tough negotiations the hotel manager agreed to the original price given to us of €120. We did upgrade for the remaining 2 nights but all this was very overwhelming for us and tainted the remainder of our holiday even further.

In our opinion our holiday was spoiled and ruined by the fact we believe we were given an unsuitable room (I explained this at the hotel whilst we were there before I read the hotels description of the rooms when we came home) explained below.

This is taking from the Bitacoras web page:
"The rooms in the Bitácora are spacious and can comfortably accommodate up to 3 adults and 1 child UP to 12 years, or 2 adults and 2 children UP to 12 years"

Can I at this point stress the importance in the difference between 3 adults and 1 child UPTO 12 years old against 2 adults and a 15 year old female and 12 year old boy(Not under 12 but OVER 12 years old). Our son is not under 12 he is over 12 years old.
Surely Bitacora has overlooked there recommendation of there room type to acomadate us to gain our custom, or maybes there is a difference in what Jet2 believe Bitacora offers to what they actually have to offer.

To sum up our feelings, we feel cheated by the hotel and feel we were seriously overlooked and given no help with our concerns during our stay there. The only time we had there full attention was when it was evident we were willing to pay for an upgraded room, and that was an absolute farce too by casually giving us 3 different prices with an increase every time.

In conclusion to this, I would like to point out our 2 main complaints :

1, We believe the room given to us was not adequate for a family of 2 adults and 2 children aged 15 and 12 and even though we raised our concerns immidiatly with the hotel it was not dealt with sympathetically considering we were there to enjoy ourselves.

2, The set-up at the hotel is primarily All Inclusive, and leaves other guests feeling inferior to the rest of them. The room is almost certainly not suited to guests on a half board basis where they may require a fridge to keep there drinks cool or a kettle to make a hot drink.
