Just back from a week half board at the Dalias. I was there with a friend and looking for a quite week but unfortunately booked a school midweek holiday week and this hotel was certainly catering for children but I felt at the expense of adults, particularly the evening entertainment which despite this was of quite a high standard. This is a big hotel and as such has a large dining room with food locations scattered about the whole room. The food is good but expect to spend a lot of your time going round the room to find what you want. It surprised us to find that the stair carpet between the first and third floors was badly needing replaced as it was not very clean !! A room with a balcony and a 'pool view' means just that as you might need good eyesight to see the pool from some of the rooms ( room 301 was about a 100 metre walk from reception !!). It took us a view of several rooms before we felt that it was an acceptable room, but even at that the flimsy door on the wardrope had no bottom runner and just flapped about when opening or closing it. We were told that the good rooms were 'superior rooms' which we were not entitled to. The hotel is situated at a one of the highest levels in the resort apart from up 'cardiac hill' in Los Christianos, so expect to have to do a bit of climbing every time you return to the hotel. There is a large pool area with three pools and plenty of sunbeds. The main pool was very cold with very few people using it and had no steps into it - only ladders which were not secured very well.

Room Tip: Rooms on the outside of the hotel do not get the sun and there is a road used as a taxi rank so expect traffic / noise. If you can get rooms with high numbers e.g. x30+ at as high a level as possible - see other reviews for some good tips.

Just returned from a week at the Las Dalias and can honestly say that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. my wife and I travelled with our two eldest grandaughters, 16 and 13.
We found the check in simple and were pleased to find that 2 of our 3 prior requests had been met, we had a pool / sea view on an upper floor.
Although the travel firms take liberties with the prices charged at school half term, the hotel offered sound value for the facillities provided.
The food was excellent both in terms of choice and quality as of course was the booze. Nice draught beer, ice cold bottles of San Miguel, excellent cocktails, and of course premium brand shorts.
We had the added bonus of Valentines day and the hotel and entertainments teams helped make the day special, even laying on extra care and entertainment so as mums and dads with young children could enjoy a romantic meal. Plus having a Mowtown / Soul tribute act was a touch of class.
On the subject of animation, the team worked hard and the Mamma Mia show was particularly good.

Just returned home having spent a week at this hotel during February half term.

We were allocated a room on the 4th floor on arrival which overlooked the pool which was ideal - could even see the sea ! Pool view rooms are not guaranteed but you can upgrade to one at a cost of 12 Euros per day. The bedroom was very basic and definitely needed upgrading. In fairness my only moan is that a number of the public areas do need refurbing, however, this did not detract from a great holiday.

Food :

We stayed AIl inclusive - the choice and quality of food in the restaurant was excellent. There is also a continental breakfast served in the entertainment area by the pool between 10.00Hrs - 13.00Hrs. From about mid day until about 2PM you can also get hot dogs / burgers / chips from an area next to the stage area by the main pool.

Whilst there the hotel celebrated Valentines Day and put on an extra special dinner.

Drinks:

Plentiful with branded spirits being routinely supplied. Beer , spirits, wine, soft drinks, hot drinks etc etc - they had it. Although there is no self-service of drinks at the bars - we never had to queue for very long. During lunch and dinner you are able to help yourself to wine, beer and soft drinks in the restaurant.
Entertainment :

The Entertainment team work so hard. There are loads of actvities going on throuhout the day. During the evening the entertainment was inside in the entertainmet area opposite the restaurant. Whilst we were there the Entertainmet Team put on their own production of Mama Mia and on another night they did a comedy show. Professional acts included Michael Jackson; a Motown group; chinese acrobats and a drag queen type act. All in all excellent.

Pool Area:

The weather was mixed whilst we were there and so there was perhaps not the frantic dash for sunbeds that is referred to in other reviews. The pool area tended to open between 8.30AM and 9AM once it had been cleaned and there was always a small group of guests waiting to secure a sun bed. I would imagine in the peak season that it would be very crowded and that there would not be enough sunbeds.

Hotel General / Area General:

The hotel's staff are a credit to the hotel. Everyone that we came across were friendly and worked very hard.

The hotel is on a hill opposite a shopping centre. When you come out of the hotel - if you turn left and keep on walking down the hill to the sea - from here if you follow the footpath to the right you are then in Puerto Colon which is a harbour area ( about 10 minute walk from the hotel). This is a nice area with a beach, shops, restaurants etc. From here you can take triips out to do whale watching / dolphin watching - we did and saw both - we went out on Eden Catamaran and booked at a place called Rowe Excurisions which is down by the harbour in Puerto Colon - it cost 18 Euros each for a 2 hour trip.

Conversely when you reach the sea - turn left and you can follow the path all the way down into Playa das Americas - another great walk with loads of shops, bars, restaurants, beaches etc. There are a lot of bars along the way that sell large beers for between 1 Euro and 1 Euro 50 with a beautiful view of the sea thrown in.

All in all - a great holiday - great hotel. Enjoy!!

Room Tip: Higher floor - 4th floor upwards.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday , staying at Iberostar Las Dalias hotel in Costa Adeje. A well run hotel, very clean. A change of bed sheets every other day, clean towels every day. A good selection of food, but, repetitive.

My reason for thinking it isn't a full 4 star, ? Amenities, for folk over 40 years of age.It has to be one of the only 4 star hotels in Tenerife, that doesn't have a comfortable lounge with easy chairs and settee's. To be able to sit in comfort reading a book in a quiet environment, for me is a must. Only soft chairs they had were in reception, and even then, had only around half a dozen. The main hall for entertainment only had dining chairs, at tables. Also don't know if entertainment improved as summer arrived, but while we were there, it was abysmal.
My wife and I are relativily fit, walking most days for an hour or more. However, we found after walking along promenade and around shops etc, we had a hill to walk back up to hotel. So position of hotel is not good , if you have mobility problems.
I based this review on , comparing this hotel with lots of other 4 star hotels in Tenerife Las Americas. It was below par.

My wife and 2 sons arrived at the Las Dalias on Thursday 16th February . She booked A superior Room. the room was not a superior room and had a distasteful tobacco smell in the room, upon complaining to the reception who incidentally spoke (perfect English when she checked in and then broken English upon the first signs of a complaint) showed my wife another room which was identical to the superior room but this was called a standard room. We paid a 500 euro premium for a superior room and was given a standard room, my wife then was told that her room was a superior room as it was on the 8th floor. I find this an insult to be told that a room at a different level could be classed as a superior room. Our next offer was a bigger room with a balcony the following day as it was not possible at check in as the hotel was full. So it seems that there were superior rooms but not available at check in. My wife asked for her money back to be told that was not possible no cancellations possible. After reading the cancellation terms on the website we had to accept a loss of 1 nights money deducted from the total that was given even though the room was unacceptable.
