“Excellent week here, really recommend!”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

Myself (18), my brother (12), sister (16) and parents (40 and 43) stayed at the Las Piramides 19th to 26th February. After reading some negative reviews/comments, I was a little apprehensive of our stay but we were all pleasantly surprised. Our two room were spacious and clean, each with a balcony, table, chairs, dressing table, chest of drawers, wardrobe and kitchenette. Mine and my sister's room had a shower room and the other room had a bath room. Our room had a lovely view of neighbouring hotels and another pool (which we also had access too) along with palm trees etc. The towels were changed every other day, we were given an extra toilet roll when needed and the room was cleaned everyday apart from Sunday. We were half board and on our next trip we plan to upgrade to fully inclusive. Food for breakfast included; full English, cereal, yoghurt, a coffee machine which did lates etc, toast, baguettes, ham, cheese, pastries, fruit juice (which was very sweet and watered down!) etc. This was the same very morning which my family were happy with. The evening meal included: paella, chips, fish dishes, chicken and beef dishes, soup, baguettes, steak, salad, chicken nuggets, fish fingers, pasta and various other things. Pudding was great: a variety of ice cream and incredible cream cakes in a range of flavours. There was also a great amount of fruit: kiwis, bananas, grapefruit, avocado, apples and oranges. Some reviews said that this is exactly the same menu each day, but it did slightly vary with different variations of dishes. The hotel has a great shop selling both English and Spanish food, toiletries, drinks, sun cream, magazine, newspapers and souvenirs. The pool area was relatively small as sunbeds were usually all taken by 9am! But if you put your towel out before then you'll get a great area in the sun. There is a large pool and children's pool, along with another pool and bar around the other side of the hotel (which we did not realise we could use until the final day!). The bar has great snacks and drinks for half board at low cost including pizzas and sandwiches and they are quick on service. And there is an almost continuous amount of food available for fully inclusive. Night time entertainment was ok, not excellent but we often wandered around the shops at night as they stayed open til 11pm. It was usually very packed as it's not that big. Drinks are strong! A single vodka and coke was about 2 euro but it probably had 3 shots of vodka in it! Staff seemed to work non stop and were absolutely great, including 2 women from Newcastle and a few others. For day trips we would really recommend Siam Park - the best trip we've ever been on - and also a half day via Jeep to Mount Tiede. Both worth the money! The area is nice, 10 minute walk from the beach, and surrounded by shops. Going out for lunch was relatively cheap and there is a great cafe on about 20 mins along the beach. We expected the temp to be 18, but it was actually 25-26 degrees for 4 days so we came home very burnt/tanned. Would thoroughly recommend the hotel and we are definitely thinking about returning.

Room Tip: My room was 1169. Odd numbers have the better rooms as the even face down onto the court yard where...

The hotel is in a great location, very central for everything you could need. On arrival no-one bothers to tell you there is a ramp that you can use rather than carry your case down a large flight of stairs. We went self catering and although we didn't intend to cook it was just as well as there was no oven, only two rings, no toaster, no-where to put the kettle if you wanted to cook without unplugging it and the microwave was unusable as there was no turntable inside. The beds were extremely low and the mattresses were desperately uncomfortable. We only got sunshine on our balcony for about an hour a day. There were never enough sunbeds, if you didn't bag one by 9.15am you weren't getting one!! The whole place needs a bit of a facelift. I was very shocked to find that the bar only served drinks in paper cups!! Come on, as an adult I do expect my drink to arrive in a glass!! I won't be returning to this particular hotel and won't be recommending it to my family or friends!! I don't understand why a big company like Thomas Cook gave this hotel 3 stars, I think it was barely 2 star!

I thought this might be disaster break but was pleasantly surprised. Only one problem, a leaky connection in the bathroom that was fixed within an hour.
Most reviewers cannot even spell so how can they realise the difficulty of running a busy hotel and keep everyone happy.
Pepe and all the staff including the cleaners were friendly and pleased to help.
My usual moan is against people that expect 5 star food and surroundings. This hotel is a good place to stay for a week where you get a variety of food that I could not fault. Sure there can be a queue during peak times, it could be improved by not having the present layout which lends itself to a good British queue.
Pool was clean but sunbeds reserved dead on 9 o'clock , surely one thing that is very German.
Why go abroad to watch TV? The entertainment might be a bit short and I guess cramped when busy, but the shops bars and other venues are 5 mins away. Great for people watching although the 'Looky Looky' men are a real pain and can get abusive.
Avoid the Deutsche Bank area, there is a guy who pounces on you to go to his club.....'just down there' Yeah right a dark alley
Room was clean and spacious, (1148) Can get noisy when the hens/stags return but a policy of 300 euros or your'e out seems to work. Only takes a call to reception.
Bed a bit hard and pillows need a good bash but not a problem. Towels and bedding changed as promised on the details sheet.
Somebody complained about breeze blocks, probably these have been added to save you falling over the balcony! This hotel was built before the 'elf and softy' brigade got invented!
All doors are secure, balcony doors can be safely left open overnight. Bulbs are the old type low energy that take a while to get bright. Worth mentioning for the early hours visit to relieve the excess choices of all inclusive drink. As for the food quality, the missus is worlds worst for being fussy, but she was struggling to eat three lots of three course meals! The corridors are well lit at night, during the day it is not really needed, so just the emergency lights are on. True, some of the plastic glasses are a bit flimsy, but if you get one of the named brand beer cups, these are stronger, so keep getting it refilled. Or, when you get a proper glass (thanks Pepe!) hang on to it for the evening.
Worth a stay as you could not do much better for the money. This area attracts party folk and families and you can expect that some end up in the same hotel.
Will be back there later in the year.

Room Tip: Rooms facing courtyard get the sun, but due to layout, don't have much of a view and can be nois...

stayed at the hotel in october (2011) with my girlfriend for our 1st holiday together, neitha of us could fault this hotel there was a good variety of food on offer for dinner and tea, plenty drinks included on the all inclusive package including cocktails wich was good. didnt have to get up too early to get a cuple of sun loungers by the pool either. the room was better than we expected it to be and where happy with the size and was clean on arrival. however our room was not ready when we arrived and had to wait about 2 hours to get our luggage unpacked but wasnt 2 much of an issue. overall we thought this hotel was good value for money and would recomend it. dont take 2 much notice of the bad reviews this was a good hotel to stay at.

Having read many of the other reviews of this hotel, I found that the majority were against the hotel, however, i kept an open mind on this. On arrival it bode well, warm greeting and after a bit of paper shifting we were shown to our room. It was reasonably large two single beds and a kitchenette, complete with kettle, and overlooking the small pool. We were encouraged to go down to dinner straight away as the time was getting on, at first glance the food looked good, a reasonable amount of salad, and at least 5 choices of main course and a good choice of desserts. Breakfast the following morning was a revelation, a reasonable queue for everything.but it was eatable. After day two we settled on fruit and rolls for breakfast. Lunch was very similar to dinner,,,,chips with everything. There was no cold meats etc on offer, it was hot food with salad, chips or pasta. We decided to go out for dinner on our last night and we found one that had a reasonable singer and the menu looked good, (no chips).it was our unfortunate luck to find the one restaurant whose food was worse than our hotel.
One question remains, would I go back, possibly yes, but only on a B&B basis

I read the reviews before we went and was a bit worried about stopping there. I don't know how people could complain about the food. There were 10 of us and we all thought it was spot on. Our rooms were cleaned everyday apart from Sunday. We will definitely be going again and had a brilliant weeks holiday
