“An out-dated hotel that lacks a heart and hospitality”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2013

Stayed here for 2 weeks in March of 2013. I didn't really know what to expect as I've never been to the Canaries although I've been to many beach resorts around the world, though mostly in the United States. Overall I think this hotel needs to start thinking about the little details that makes your guests appreciated and welcomed. This hotel is on the opposite spectrum. It operates merely as a money machine, trying to nickel and dime you throughout your stay. It simply lacks the human touch and the hospitality required that makes one happy and interested in staying again. I just don't think the people running this business really care.

Here are some of the things I found seriously wrong with this hotel:

1. STAFF
The staff in the reception were not welcoming at all. This is where you need to put your best people! The reception is run so amazingly inefficiently and badly - it would take a whole book for me to write about it. And the attitude, especially among the male staff is baffling! One staff member was particularly arrogant when we were trying to rent bikes. His name is Dominique Dominiques. As we were finalizing the rent agreement and asked for 2 helmets, he only had one. We told him we couldn't rent under that condition. The guy furiously threw the bike keys in the drawer, slammed it and then threw the Euro bills at us like it was some kind of confetti. Amazingly rude attitude!

2. ELEVATORS
The hotel has 4 elevators that are all LONG DUE for inspection. These elevators have minds of their own. We never knew what they were going to do next. In one instance our elevator got stuck and after that we chose to use the stairs for the remainder of our stay. If you look closely inside the elevators they have Inspection certificates that are dated back to 2006!! Hello! I AM POSTING PICTURES OF THIS HERE! (See photo section). We complained to the reception about being stuck in the elevators and of course they responded like it was the first time it had happened.

3. BEDS
The beds are rock hard and its difficult to get a good nights sleep. Most of the hotel´s guests spend 1/3 of their times there but the hotel apparently doesn't understand that.

4. FOOD
The breakfast was alright most of the time. Beverage selection pretty pathetic though and all of their juices were made from concentrate and not fresh. Lunch was spotty and the worst was their dinner. So dinner got old pretty fast since it was most of the same stuff repeated over and over again. They need to fire the guy that makes the soups. Fortunately we were only doing 2 out of 3 meals package.

5. NICKEL AND DIMING
They charge you deposit for your TV remote (yes!), room safe (18 eur per week, non refundable). You pay for towels in the garden and various other little things. Outright silly.

6. WI-FI
The "complimentary" wi-fi works mostly downstairs and is spotty at best. When you get a connection going it's DOG slow. Also, another annoying feature is that your wifi expires every 3 days, so you need to get a new passcode every time from reception. The 2nd day I was there I ran to the Movistar phone company which is in the area, they got me a SIM card for my cell that included data for online access. Only EUR 15 for these 2 weeks! I then simply created a hotspot on my iPhone and everybody staying with me were happy campers. Our internet connection was blazing compared to the hotel's and I didn't have to deal with the reception.

You might ask what I thought was good about this place. The garden was nicely laid out, the sport activities were a good idea to keep you active. Food areas looked pretty good and location was good. Also one of the staff members, Damian, was very helpful and professional when helping me out. But unfortunately overall not good enough to make me happy and wanting me to return.

Having stayed at many 4 star hotels in Tenerife this hotel is the best we've ever stayed in. We arrived at the hotel on the 31st of April 2013, 7 adults aged from 25-85, to be given two sea view rooms that we had paid for and one non-sea view room which we had not upgraded. The reception staff were extremely helpful. The rooms were lovely and clean, although there was not many drawers to store clothes in. There was maid service daily and towels changed daily. The views from the balcony were wonderful and I would highly recommend you book a sea view room.
From the gardens of the hotel you could go through a gate and straight onto the promenade. I recommend you do not use the beach directly outside the hotel, turn left and follow the coast and there is a lovely beach about 10 minutes walk.
The food was lovely their was something different on every night and always plenty to choose from. Sometimes we had to queue to get into the restaurant however the queue did go down quite quickly, but there seemed to be no structure to who was showing you to tables and who was clearing tables. The Italian A LA Carte restaurant is well worth a visit an excellent night. The snack bar around the pool was always stocked with plenty of food, you could make toasties throughout the day. As we were all inclusive we were able to help ourselves to drinks around the pool during the day. The bar staff in the main bar were always friendly and served you as fast as they could although it did get quite busy.
The pool area was always very clean. You are not allowed to put towels on beds until after 8am which is good. There were plenty of sunbeds. If you are away from your beds for along time someone comes around and leaves a note on your bed stating that you are not allowed to reserve beds.
The entertainment was ok, however we cannot rely comment as we prefer to go out and about to visit other bars and make our own entertainment.
Overall we had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Book a sea view room

Stayed 5-12 April '13. Every aspect of an all-inclusive stay here is fab; food, service, accommodation, entertainment (day and night), staff, facilities etc. Check-in was hassle free we rented a safe, didn't bother with remote control (use your finger!) and mini fridge was included. Pool/sea view on 2nd floor (recommend ask for sea view otherwise overlooking street). Sun on balcony in afternoon, so if want morning sun ask for street view. Restaurant and bar areas clean, well stocked with high brand items. Lager, wine and sangria on pumps for self-serve in buffet restaurant and pool bar. Large bottles of water any time. No problems getting sun beds around the pools, but if not occupied by approx 11am the pool staff remove towels. Towels to hire at 1.2 euros each for as long as you need to replace with another. Had a birthday celebration whilst there and had champagne delivered to room and party cake provided at meal time. Easy access to beach and promenade (need room key to get back into hotel grounds) and bars and restaurants on door step if you want to venture out. All staff were so hard working especially the entertainment staff working throughout the day around the pool and in the evening for kids club/shows, and the restaurant staff are very efficient and always working with a smile. Thank you to all concerned for making this a fantastic holiday for a family of 4 adults and 2 children. Will certainly book again even as a couples' holiday, everyone is catered for.

Room Tip: Pool/sea view, 2nd floor upwards.

Stayed in this hotel for one week in early April; didn't reach expectations, but was overall a decent visit. Has a convenient location in that the beach is a mere 3 minute walk away and downtown is right around the corner. Food is excellent - my group enjoyed all-inclusive service at each meal buffet where every selection was different, yet just as good as the last. Alcoholic beverages were alright - the hotel put their own spin on a few which tainted their classic tastes, but they were still enjoyable. Rooms and room service were mediocre - housekeeping only came twice throughout the whole duration of our stay, even though our 'do not disturb' sign was only ever left on the door when we were inside the room. That proved unpleasant, especially when we eventually ran out of towels, toilet paper, and slept in messy beds. The rooms didn't come with an iron, there were no drinks in the minibar, and to use the safe an extra fee was required, so all of those challenges had to go about being solved some other way. To add on to the growing annoyances, the ceiling in our bathroom began to leak water from the light on our 5th day, and plaster began falling all over the floor, so that was a pain when trying to take a shower or use the restroom. They did come fix it up the next morning though, so that was nice. The pool area is fantastic - lots of space to tan or lay out on their multiple lawn chairs, there's three pools in total including the kiddie pool, and the lunch buffet can be eaten outside at the poolside bar. There is no hot tub or jacuzzi however, which was kind of disappointing on cloudy/chilly days. Besides the things I've mentioned above, the H10 Las Palmeras hotel did treat us well, and we thank them for giving us a wonderful temporary 'home' while staying in Tenerife.
