Just back from this fantastic Hotel. There is absolutely nothing you could fault about this Hotel. From the staff who book you in at Reception, to the guy serving you at the bar, to the guy clearing away your plate in the restaurant, to the guy serving you at the fish/chicken bar. To the animacion staff too who went all out to please everyone, especially the young Frenchman Edry, the guy couldn't do enough to encourage everyone to join in the water polo, water volleyball, dancing etc etc. The food was beautiful, the Italian Restaurant was lovely too, with the a la carte service. The room was lovely, air conditioned, fresh towels, lovely shower gel, fridge in room, sea view the lot. You would need to go a long way to find fault with this gorgeous Hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view!

My wife and i have just returned from 2 weeks all inclusive at the las palmeras.

Reception.

Staff are all multilingual efficient and quite friendly. We were originally given a ground floor room but asked to be changed as we have not enjoyed ground floor rooms in other hotels. After a little bit of wrangling we were given a room on the 3rd floor. (9 floors in the hotel
4 lifts)
Not offered a porter service, though some guests did get it. Just hit and miss i guess.

Rooms.

Hotel's weak point, the room we were in was obviously old and it was kittle things like the balcony door not closing properly, stiff wardrobe doors, the odd bathroom tile loose. Not major issues as we don't spend a lot of time in the room. If you do spend a lot of time in your room it might be worth upgrading to a superior (i think its called - the blue and white decor)
The room otherwise is functional, 2 single beds pushed together, sufficient wardrobe space - approx 16 hangers, plenty of shelves, 2 bedside tables, desk, tv etc. We didnt bother with a fridge, we just left the a/c on all the time and would take drinks up to the room as we wanted them.

Food.

Brekky

Mix of various pastrys, eggs, breads, pancakes and omlettes on alternate days, foreign orrible bacon, bit there is plenty. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, juice all from vending machines - avoid the orange juice - it tastes like squash!
Only real bug bear was the toaster.....it takes forever and you have to put your toast through twice.

lunch.

never used the restaurant just the pool bar, serves various bits like hot dogs, burgers, chips, pizza, toasties, loads of fresh salad, paella - what more do you need eh! oh yeah various desserts + little pots of ice cream and yoghurt. There are also pastries out for an hour or so after breakfast.

dinner

Huge choice, always some fresh meat, or fish being cooked, normally a roast being carved ( even whole piglets on one night!)
Various cakes and lots of ice cream for dessert.

Drinks

help yourself for house beer (slides down well), wine (red and white) soft drinks etc. spirits are from the bar.

Note: The outside areas are used for smoking. If you want to guarantee a smoke free dinner eat inside, as if you are outside you could have someone next to you smoking, also if you are a smoker and you want to you can have a fag between courses of you go outside.

Pool area

Tidy, cleaned every day, plenty of beds plenty of umbrella shades. There is a bit of a bed run at 8.15 (of which i have to admit i was a part of) but this is only necessary if you want the same beds every day. It also stops people getting up at 5am and reserving beds! so not as mad as it sounds. plus the sun doesnt hit the pool area until it climbs over the hotel about 10.30 ish at this time of year

There are 2 pools, + 1 kids paddling pool.
1 pool is smallish and only about 5ft deep at its deepest with walk down stairs (both pools) so not just ladders in and out.

Entertainment.
This is all run by the fantastic Lucia

There is as much or as little to do during the day as you want running from water gym at 11a.m. moving through various activities, archery, shooting, billiards, boule, water polo, water volleyball (both very fun) finishing about 3.45.
The house band reminds me of Spanish blokes doing a mick take of vic and bobs club singer round. These guys just fill in before the kids mini disco at 8.30 which looked like fun for the kids (and parents) taking part, and for an hour between 9 and 10 when the evening shows start. No idea what these are like as we never stayed to watch. However after speaking to some other brits we met, they said they were ok on the whole.

Clientele

very mixed european, lots of belgians, some french, spanish, dutch, austrians, the obligatory germans ;-) there were more brits there this time than we have seen or heard in previous years.
The majority of guests tended to be the older generation (my wife and i are in our 30's) but there were quite a few younger couples as well, so dont feel like you are walking into a retirement home!
Not many families while we were there but we deliberatley went after the schools went

This was the 4th time my wife and i have visited the hotel, but have not been there for 4 years.
We found the hotel to be much improved from our last visit.

Summary

A great value hotel in a fantastic location with friendly and efficient staff if you dont mind a bit of a slightly shabby room.
I would go back like a shot tomorrow.

Just got back from a great holiday. The hotel well deserves its 4* rating. We were on the third floor with a sea and pool view. The rooms are quite spacious and cleaned every day. The food was good and varied (no brussel sprouts for breakfast). The staff are very friendly wherever you go in the hotel and always have a cheerful 'hola' whatever time of day. The only downside was that there were lots of Germans, French etc but not many English although it wasn't to much of a problem. There is direct access to the beach but it isn't a very good beach, better to walk the 20 minutes to Playa Vista beach near Los Christianos which has nicer sand. You can hire two sunbeds and an umbrella for 9 euros a day. As for excursions the one to Loro Parque is an absolute must. We really enjoyed it, there are the dolphin (a definite must), orca, sea lion and parrot shows at different times during the day as well as other animals and birds. The Katandra treetops is fabulous walking on a rope bridge in a rainforest setting with parrots flying round you. Alll in all a really fabulous holiday and we will definitely go back to La Palmeras Hotel

Room Tip: We asked for a middle floor with sea view and were given a third floor room with sea and pool view. It did not bother us but the entertainment is done on a stage near the pool bar so it does get a bit noisy at night.

we stayed for 1 week at the h10 las palmeras all inclusive in sept. we booked a sea view room which was a average size, a very large hotel with a lot of rooms, the resturant and pool areas got very crowded, there was plenty of choice of food from 7.00am to 10.00pm and drinks to 12.00 midnight the hotel is situated right in the centre of playa del las americas handy for bars resturants and night clubs if you dont like the hotel entertainment, which is not for everyone ! the hotel is on the sandy beach but you cant get into the sea because of rocks on the edge of the water, suitable for surfers because of the very large waves, but there are good sandy beaches either side of this beach but they are a 15 min slow walk

Room Tip: we were in room 267 second floor sea view the room was cooler because it was in the shade all day. no problems with noise

After several recent holidays staying at La Siesta (across road) we decided to have a change - and stayed at Las Palmeras for 5 nights from 5th September.
This hotel is excellent and well worth the 4 stars.
On arrival the reception girls were extremely friendy and helpful and English speaking-no charge for tv remote as previous reviews.
We booked a sea view room which was on the 4th floor (401) stunning sea and pool views with sun all afternoon/evening.
Food was superb with plenty of choice - both breakfast and evening meal - only problem I put 4 lbs on 5 days !! No problem finding a table and the hotel was full.
Our room was cleaned to a high standard towels changed every day and bed linen changed mid stay.
Our room was directly over the entertainment area which was quite loud in the evening but with brilliant views of the evening shows - all music and entertainment finished at 11:30.
We were in an ideal position to watch the 8am daily morning sun bed marathon run - just watch and you will know what I mean!!!!!
This is the only fault - most sun beds and umbrellas were reserved with no-one on them until late afternoon we had to go on the beach and pay - although minor this was THE only fault about the hotel.
All in all excellent hotel, superb location, friendly staff and good food.
Hope our next visit is as good !!!
THANK YOU

Room Tip: PAY the extra sea view supplement on booking then you won't be upset if they are all full on arrival
