“Not what you would expect at a 5 Star Hotel”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

We have just arrived back after a week at the Sir Anthony Hotel.
On first impressions the Hotel is very nice, but there are a few issues that you
would not expect from a 5 Star Hotel. The first is the lack of sun beds, which should be sufficient for the number of staying guests. Secondly guests are allowed
to reserve sun lounges at the crack of dawn, with books etc. This is not what
you would expect at a 5 Star Hotel. Or the ones that we have previously stayed at.
Another issue that we noticed was the croissants and pastries were left out on
the tables in and outside the restaurant at breakfast. They hand't been covered and were left unattended, so birds and insects could be eating them before the guests....
The breakfast was a bit hit and miss, sometimes the eggs were not cooked, waffles straight
from the fridge. Not what you expect from a 5 star hotel.
But on a positive note, the beds were comfortable, the staff were really nice, and we
would consider this hotel again.

Dear Mr / Mrs. KevinHSheffield,

first of all thank you very much for investing your time transmitting your feedback about your experience at the Sir Anthony Hotel with other travellers at this Web Page.

All kind of feedback is very important for us, as it gives us the chance to improve. Trust me when I say we will take special attention at the breakfast, our main goal is to make our guests experience unforgettable. You make reference to the fact that our guests are reserving sunbeds, this is not allowed at the Hotel, our staff will continue working hard on the communication of this and also at the control.

We say goodbye hoping to have the chance to welcome you soon again at Sir Anthony Hotel.

Bests regards,

A bit of a late review but better late than never. We stayed for a week at the start of 2012 to relax and get a break from work after what was an extremely busy festive period. The hotel is really nice and situated at the border of playa de las Americas and los Christinos, not far from the best shops and a selection of quality restaurants. The rooms were great with a large balcony and massive bed, the bathroom was beautiful with a divine jacuzzi bath and molton brown toiletries; however a touch up of tiles/ paint would of not gone unnoticed. The breakfast was nice, with a good selection on offer. Very modern and right up my street, however the prices are extremely high in comparison to others around the area but none the less defiantly worth a stay.

We decided to book a last minute break for my husband's birthday, somewhere warm in a quality hotel. The Sir Anthony only had one room left which was a suite, with a double balcony and roof terrace with plunge pool, so we decided to go for it as it was a celebration.

On arriving at the hotel we were met by Sandra who was so professional, we were checked in quickly and while waiting we enjoyed a complimentary glass of fizz. Sandra showed us to our room which was fabulous. It had a separate lounge area with tv, huge bedroom with another tv, bathroom and shower rooms (great shower once we got used to the controls), the balcony and then up the spiral staircase to the terrace and plunge pool. The terrace was huge, think we could have held our own birthday party here, three sun loungers, table and chairs and corner furniture. We sunbathed up here a couple of days, it was lovely and peaceful.

The following day it was my husband's birthday and Sandra had arrange for a birthday cake and housekeeping put some birthday balloons on the outside room door. Katya greeted us most mornings with a beaming smile. The rest of the team on reception (sorry didn't get your names) were also helpful when we had a question or query.

The breakfasts were most enjoyable, there was plenty of choice such as cereals, selection of hot foods, fresh fruit etc. My husband requested porridge a couple of times and if you were inclined you could have a glass of fizz with your fresh orange juice.

We ate in the restaurant a couple of times and although the food was very good the atmosphere is a bit bleak which is a real shame as the staff work hard to make it enjoyable. It just seemed a bit gloomy. The piano player each evening is a lovely touch.

The pool area and garden is only small but that is what we were looking for (not a hotel recommended for children which was good for us!) but you do sometimes have a struggle to get a sunbed as people tend to reserve them and towards the end of our stay it became a case of 'if you can't beat them join them' and we were reserving sunbeds - not something we like to do. Considering how close we were to the other hotels, the promenade and beach it was so peaceful.

Your not far from the Safari centre and we had several good meals here. Also reception gave us some good recommendations of where to go (and not to go).

The service was impeccable, all the staff friendly and knowledgeable. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone for making our staff an enjoyable one.

I would certainly consider staying here again, but perhaps try one of the garden rooms next time.

I have had the pleasure of being welcomed back to the Sir Anthony on numerous occasions. True, it is rather expensive, but for me, to be able to close the door on the outside world and enjoy total relaxation and peace is money well spent. Children are allowed, but no inflatable toys are allowed in the swimming pools which leaves parents only one alternative and this is to take toddlers to one of the neighbouring hotels.

Monica, Katia, and the other staff go out of their way to make your arrival special. It still amazes me that you can be in the middle of a resort and next door to the Mare Nostrum Hotel, (which houses an enormous swimming pool, where sporting activities take place during the day and nightly entertainment is provided) that not a sound can be heard in the Sir Anthony.

Room Tip: I prefer a garden room, just a few steps down to the garden and the pool which is attended by Roy, w...

We have just returned from Tenerife and our stay in the Sir Anthony was just what we needed. Fabulous position right on the beach and right next door to restaurants and shops. The hotel is part of the Mare Nostrum resort which has 3 hotels on the complex. There is easy access to the other hotels but only Sir Anthony guests can get into the Sir Anthony pool and hotel area. We had a room at the top of the hotel with the 2 storeys and a private sundeck and plunge pool and this was fantastic. We thought it worth the extra money for the privacy. Our bed was a little hard so we asked for a mattress topper and this was provided almost right away. The service was excellent. Big shower and plenty of water pressure so really good and one of the best hotel showers. The breakfast was very nice but as always when staying in hotels can get a bit repetitive although there were lots of options but we are trying to be good at the moment so limited ourselves to only certain things. The shops and restaurants are a 2 minute walk away. You don't hear any noise at night because the sister hotel is between the Sir Anthony and the shops and restaurants. The swimming pool was not large but a nice size for a swim and cooling off. Very few children at the hotel when we were there which was nice. I would definitely stay there again.

Sir Anthony is not worthy of 5 star rating. Works canteen restaurant with mediocre menu, (not expensive). Basic facilities, relying on adjacent hotel for incedental snacks, shops etc. Excellent location and staff. With nice pool area.

Room Tip: Bath only on second floor.

There can not be to many Hotels Tenerife in such a great location. It's not just its proximity to the beach, but the fact it's a short stroll to the Safari centre with all the good Restaurants is a big plus.
For those that like a stroll, there is Puerto Colon in one direction and the bay of Los Christianos in the other. This is the second year we have stayed here and this year we made sure we booked a room on the ground floor with direct access to the pool and your own loungers. I don't believe there can be a more cheery welcome than the one you will get from Sandra or Monica. The breakfast is most enjoyable and the waiter service adds to the feeling of being a 5 star establishment. The staff are all very polite and helpful and the rooms in our experience have been spotless and thoroughly cleaned to a high standard each day. On the down side, the bar and Restaurant are deserted in the evenings and the pianist strikes a lonely figure playing to nobody. We would be quite happy to have an early evening livener or two there but the drinks are more expensive than is necessary. Surely it would make sense to keep them in line with the surrounding bars and encourage people to use it more ? We will be back next year and I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for those looking for a quiet week or two of winter sun.

Room Tip: Always go for the ground floor. You may give up your Sea view, but its more than worth it for the di...
