I've been to the Vulcano quite a few times before. That is statement you will hear a lot of times if you talk to guests at the Vulcano, the hotel creates a lot of loyalty and I can understand why - this is my eighth visit.
One source of enlightenment is the much utilised visitor's book in the large ground floor dining room. Consistently clients are positive about the hotel cleanliness, the friendly staff and quality of the food. I am a picky so and so but there is little to complain about but as one negative stated 'why can't we have mints and coffee after dinner?' maybe that is a point!
The large, impressive hotel is situated on the southern edge of Playa Las Americas but it is now time to park your prejudices, this is not shots and sangria, this is much more Gucci, Armani and Patek Phillipe. The hotel is located amongst a number of liked sizes quality hotels a couple of hundred metres from Las Americas 'Golden Mile' shopping centre where if you ask the price you cannot afford to buy it. The beaches, restaurants and if you want them, bars, are all within a 200 metre range, the hotel is in an enviable location.
The surrounding area is flat and negotiable so attracts those not so firm on their feet. The recent decision to make the hotel adults only has added to the number of senior citizens using its facilities and on my recent visit I was probably one f the youngest there and I am no spring chicken. A consequence of an older customer profile is my one gripe about the Vulcano - the pool area is not the biggest and at 7.00 a.m. in the morning they are out reserving sun beds that will remain empty until mid-day. I never get up that early after a decent night out especially and wish for a strong wind to blow the beggars off!
Rooms are spacious, very clean and well appointed. If I can offer a tip that is go for a superior room if your budget will stretch that little further. Superior rooms overlook the pool and are peaceful at night, come with free safe, wine and nibbles, bath robes and pool towels. I asked for a double bed and was provided with a new super king size so no complaints.
This is a very well appointed, well run hotel that offers good facilities and is very well located. It has its detractors but it has its supporters too and if you try to book you will see how numerous they are. I will be back next year.
