Mediterranean Palace Hotel

Yes the rooms need a makeover but the location and the pool more than compensate! Staff were very helpful and polite, breakfast was good, aqua aerobics great fun, foam pool party a hit with the kids and the summer night party was excellent. Think the hotel could make more of the patio bar to create an atmosphere, but overall we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and despite the rooms would return.

Room Tip: We had a family room which was interconnecting on third floor which had a wonderful view of the pool...

Good location of hotel however our stay was completely unrelaxed. We put a do not disturb label on our door the day we arrived as were exhausted from the travel and we were disturbed three times in one afternoon! On top of that a note was left to us from customer relations to say the room was untidy - this was my own clothing and I was sleeping in a room that I had paid for to enable me to relax and live as I pleased. We were told to hang up our clothes as if we were children. On the last morning, check out being at 12 midday we were disturbed 3 times starting at 8.30am with cleaners trying to enter. It just felt so uneasy the whole time you could not relax which is what a holiday is for.
To add to this the dinner was awful there is only one resturant not 12 and the food is flavourless the breakfast is good but the hotel is dated and is NO WAY 5 star.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for sharing here your impressions about your recent stay with us.

I´m sorry to know that you have not been able to relax as you expected during your holidays.

In order to carry out a quality cleaning service, rooms must be minimally tidy, to allow access to all areas and guarantee a correct level of cleaning. When personal belongings of value, money or jewellery are left unattended in the room, our staff is instructed to cancel the cleaning and advise the guest in order to avoid undesirable misunderstandings. I´m sorry if this measure has annoyed you, however, it is totally necessary to allow us to offer you a right cleaning service.

Regarding the information provided about our bars and restaurants, the right information is published on our web page, and all of them are currently open and offering service, with the exception on one, circumstance also explained on our web page.

I´m sorry to know that you have felt disappointed with our service. However, if you decided to return, I would like you to contact me through our web page, so I can take personal care of your next reservation and make sure that everything is up to your expectations.

Best regards,

As the title says Brillliant for families, not for relaxing. Here are the good points first.

1. Food - I am a fussy eater and to be honest, every day the food was lovely, fresh and plenty of choice. Breakfasts were fantastic, eggs, bacon, omelettes, pancakes, churros, pastries, fruits, yoghurts and cereals. The coffee was perfect and you could have bottled water and cava if you wished.
2. Pools- Big pool with shallow and deeper ends, nice and warm too.
3. Entertainment - I have never witnessed a more dedicated and enthusiastic team. The hotel should be so proud of them, they works so hard. The aqua aerobics were fab to take part in and also to watch. Plenty of entertainment for the kids, the kids club is something else. Never experienced the evening entertainment as went out most nights.
4. Room cleanliness - Our maid Ines really looked after us, thoroughly cleaned the room, put balloons on my door for my birthday and left Molton Brown goodies in mine and my daughters room most days.
5. Monday Fiesta night - It was brilliant, with free food, drink and music/entertainment. We had such a good night here.

Not so good points:

1. Rooms - Yes they are dated, like stepping back to the '80's but tbh I don't go on holiday to stay in my room, it's just a base to get some sleep and the beds are huge and very firm, which I like. Don't expect an afternoon nap, especially if your room is pool view because the music from the poolside is DEAFENING!
2. Strange Smell - I don't know what it can be but there is a weird smell in the corridor to the room. To me it was like strong urine mixed with foul smelling disinfectant. Not pleasant at all.
3. Restaurant - Think of Butlins or Pontins. Hated everything about, just like a school canteen. Hot and full of screaming kids. We sat outside most nights, this was lovely. Well organised and great service.

All in all a fairly good holiday. Great for young families. The cleopatra palace was more chilled, we used their spa facilities and it was first class. The beach was fantastic. The music around the pool is extremely loud and this might annoy some folk. They need to get rid of the three girls singing to the aqua aerobics, sounded like a cat being strangled! The poolside vitamins bar is handy, the food and ice cream was really yummy. I would go again but maybe stay in the Cleopatra or Sir Anthony which is part of the resort.

have just returned from this hotel after spending a lovely memorable week. on arrival we were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine. we were looked after really well and the staff were polite. our room was spotless. we were on bed & breakfast basis , and there was such an amazing selection. at nearly every breakfast i had to witness people packing their lunch up from the breakfast buffet, and yes they were mostly brits, disgraceful, greedy, theft and above all they can't read. (there was signs up saying no food to be taken from the resturant) why do people do this? I would def, go again great

Room Tip: we had a room with a mountain view which was fine

Dear Florence b,

Thank you very much for sharing with us your impressions on Tripadvisor.

I´m happy to know that you have enjoyed your stay with us and hope to have the chance to welcome you again in the near future.

We are totally aware of the fact that some guests take food out of the breakfast room in spite of the obvious signs informing of the prohibition of doing so. Our staff is instructed to control and stop such instances; however at certain times the amount of guests is so high that it makes it difficult for us to detect them. I would like to thank you for helping us pointing out this situation.

Nothing could pelase us more than helping you enjoying your next holidays in Tenerife. Do not hesitate to contact us through our web page for any information or request. We´ll be happy to assist you.

However I will begin with the fact that it really is not a 5 star hotel as it is very dated, it is still a lovely hotel. Some of the staff could be abrupt and not have much time for you, whereas other members of staff where very helpful and informative. Pool area is lovely and clean, there is a lot of entertainment on around the pool for both adults and children. The children's club looked fantastic if you have little children. It was around 15-20 minutes walk into Veronicas strip which nobody seems to have mentioned in their reviews, or $5 which is cheap enough but the walk really is not that bad. The journey to Siam Park (if you are interested) was around 5/10 minutes away and you can buy tickets for both this park and Loro Parque at the hotel. Although Loro Parque is 1hour 10minutes away I would advise you to try and attend both parks as they where the best part of the holiday. There are some gorgeous resteraunts opposite the hotel, the Tappenyaki being our favourite which we visited a few times. The hotels own beach is also gorgeous and clean and fairly quiet with a cheap pool bar. Although the hotel is fairly dated inside, the outside and everywhere else appears modern and full of entertainment. Breakfast was fantastic and it catered for absolutely everyone.

Hotel was central, very clean, lots of facilities for children, clibs shows, indoor play area, gym, spa etc We had the breakfast buffet each morning which was brilliant, full selection and the champange helped to kick start the day... Rooms were spacious enough and very tidy, and hotel has its own private beach which is briliant to be away from the larger beaches.. I would go back to the hotel again if I was going to Tenerife

Dear Glenn R,

Thank you very much for your positive comments and for sharing them here on Tripadvisor.

I´m glad to know that you have enjoyed our services and facilities, specially our breakfast buffet.

We think that breakfast is the most important part of the day and this is why we like to take care of this moment offering our guests a wide range of products.

I must point out though that in Spain there are not private beaches, all of them are public, but of course well cared for and maintained.

We will be really pleased to welcome you again in the near future. Do not hesitate to contact us through our web page for any information on prices and availability or for any other request. We´ll be happy to assist you.

We came back after 4 years in the same hotel, asking for a standard mounting room. I didn't want a pool room because of the noise from the pool...but instead we had a disturbing morning from the other accommodations’ places (garbage removal and construction/renovations very early in the morning). So, be aware and don't accept the rooms from the East wing. Is not the proper hotel if you are looking for a quiet stay (in addition of the mentioned noises, are lots of children, different pool and bar activities, and no proper isolated rooms)
Unfortunately the standard of the hotel was decreasing over the years. Rooms are small, furniture old, no flat TV, pavement in the rooms was broken...and a smell of moisture or “rat” in the rooms if the balcony doors are kept closed. I was surprised to find out that for a 5 stars ???? hotel you have to pay additional fee to have a refrigerator in your room:)) Never happened to me all over the world I travelled.
Anyway I was very disappointed of the room and I I’ll never come back or recommend to my friend this hotel. I paid for 5 stars and I stayed in about 3 stars room. Personnel from the restaurant and reception were very nice but cannot help improving the general bad impression.
I had a very bad experience with the pool bar. They (a tall guy with a big mouth and very...impolite) were trying to fool my father (who doesn't speak English, or Spanish). They sell beer in different glasses (size) ...but at the same price, 4,10 Euro (which I consider very high). Difference between glasses is 100 ml. If you don't notice they will serve you the small glass for 4,10 motivating that plastic is for the pool and the other for staying at the table. I agree, this is for our safety, but why the difference of quantity for the same price (and no other service, as I buy it myself from the bar, I was not served). Anyway ....I felt that they tried to fool me in the name of the safety policy of the hotel. (I complained to the customer desk, but the lady seems to not understand me...she was repeating the safety policy. How about guest fooling policy?)
We had a half board menu (as we went almost every day in different excursions) and I noticed the same good quality of restaurant food and personnel service.
After 7 nights we left this location with a sort of regret for our decisions to come back in the same hotel (at a higher price). My advice...never choose an old hotel, the age is visible and the price is not getting down for this reason :))

Dear Danna07,

Thank you very much for your comments.

I regret that your general experience has not been pleasant.

We can always control the atmosphere and noise inside the resort but unfortunatelly we can not do the same with the street activity. If we could I can guarantee that our guests would be enjoying the most peaceful holidays ever.

I´m very sorry about your incidence at the pool bar. I can assure you that I have taken immediate action and contacted our F&B manager who will deal with the situation. Please, accept our most sincere excuses for the inconveniences.

I´m sorry to know that you will not be returning to our hotel. However, If you change your mind, I will be happy to take personal care of your reservation to ensure you the best possible holidays.
