Stayed at this lovely hotel in July 2011, only just returned. The hotel complex itself is lovely although does have a salt water pool which wasn't to our taste as stung our eyes etc. The rooms were cleaned everyday however we weren't given clean bedsheets once throughout our stay and on numerous occasions were not given clean towels whereas speaking to some other couples they had recieved this, which in my opinion is a bit dirty considering you want to shower every day, the pool and the fact there were no clean sheets let the hotel down considerably as it was a lovely place. It is literally 5 minutes from the nightlife but that does not disturb the hotel at all. It is at the end of a strip of restaurants but be careful of which ones you go to as we found at some we were paying 8 euros for a spirit and mixer to have with the meal. As with all European locations there are a lot of PR's when walking around as well as people wanting to sell glasses, flashing things, wanting to braid your hair and sell children toys. Also be wary of beggars, and an old couple also had 50euros taken from them by a street seller.

My husband and I booked with First Choice (more about them later) for 2 weeks last week in June, first week in July and loved it! I read the reviews beforehand and can agree almost everything mentioned. My husband rang direct about 5 weeks beforehand and requested a studio with an oven and a seaview, and we were given a studio room with a beautiful panoramic view of both the sea and the pool, and this is how I will remember my first visit to Tenerife, absolutely fabulous!

The Studio
Very spacious for 2 or 3 people, we were on the 2nd floor Arona block facing the pool and the sea with beautiful sunsets every night seen from our balcony. The studio was cleaned every day with fresh towels, and soap, small fruit bowl and half a bottle of white wine on arrival. Bathroom had bath with a good shower over, toilet, bidet and wash basin, with ample room to store toiletries either in the wooden cabinet fixed to the wall, a shelf underneath the wash basin fixture, plus lots of space around the bath edge. There are two lockable double wardrobes "his and hers" with more shelves in one , and extra hanging space in the other (for dresses). There are plenty of quality wooden hangers also. There is also a chest of drawers with yet more space if needed.

Bedroom area, there are two 3ft twin beds, they are a little hard, but very good if you have a bad back! There is a small bedroom cabinet and two reading lamps. The flat screened tv (BBC1, ITV1, Sky Sports, Sky News and some other British channels) can be turned to face either the bedroom area or the living area. There is a 3 seater bed settee, very comfy! Much to my delight there were 2 rocking chairs, ideal for relaxing in! There is also a large coffee table and a dining suite for 3 people, and plastic table and 3 chairs on the balcony, along with washing line and pegs! (They think of everything here!)

The kitchen, as was said in previous reviews, very well stocked with pots, pans, glasses, cutlery and cooking utensils, complete with tea towel but no dishcloth. There is toaster and a coffee machine and a full oven with grill, and two hotplates (all electric). The fridge had a small freezer compartment, ok for about 3 bags of veg/chips. My husband (who is a chef) cooked some fabulous meals for us, steaks, swordfish, chicken and pork dishes, spagetti bolognese and even cottage pie! He conjured up some fabulous meals in next to no time as everything was to hand and there was sufficient pots/pans and utensils. We ate on our balcony with the most beautiful of views with a good bottle of wine, heaven! Sometimes we had jacket potatoes baking nicely in the oven for lunch, whilst we were enjoying the swimming pool. A dishwasher would have been an added bonus, but not a problem really for two people.

Tip: We took a lockable suitcase in which we stored our valuables, cameras, and money and saved some 30 euros.

Accommodation
The whole complex was kept very clean, and the gardens are beautifully kept, and even plants set into the balconies. There is a lovely gym in the basement, which can be seen "aerially" from reception. There are a set of weighing scales so you can pre weigh your luggage on departure to avoid paying extra luggage charges at the airport! Also in the basement is a children's play area and a tv lounge. There is some building work to the front of the building, as said before, for a children's play area and two corners that used to be shops, don't know what these are going to be? The children's play area looks great and will further improve this already fantastic complex. (We were not told about any building work by First Choice though, good job we didn't get put in a studio overlooking the building work.)

Pools
The pools were cleaned every day and the whole area hosed down. The sunbeds are of very good quality, you can adjust them flat, sitting position and they even adjust for your calves too! There is handy digital clock and also showing air temperatures between the two pools. Some days the temperatures were 44C, a bit too hot for us, but we shouldn't complain! Some people left their towels out every night (complete with flip flops?) to reserve sunbeds but this was not necessary as there was always sunbeds and parasols available. The pool area is very quiet but you can of course use the "lagoon" pools in Parque Santiago 3 and the waterpark for children under 12, this is a lot busier and noisier.

Staff
All staff were very pleasant and very helpful. Thank you!

Food
As said in previous reviews the restaurants in the immediate area were quite pricey compared to home (Yorkshire), and yes you could find meals cheaper if you walked about 10 mins either way but my husband and I preferred to book quite a few trips and see more of the island and self cater for most of our meals. The supermarkets at Parque Santiago are very expensive compared to prices in Yorkshire, for instance a packet of Doritos nearly 4 Euro, a loaf of wholemeal bread 2.5 Euro the prices made my jaw drop! However, we did find Mercadona prices to be fantastic! Two Swordfish steaks 2.70 Euro, 6 litres of water 0.84 Euro, in fact my husband and I bought 4 days worth of food for under 35 Euro! Needless to say we returned again and again to Mercadona, wish we had one here in Yorkshire!! To find Mercadona turn right out of the front of the complex, and walk past Parque Santiago 3, crossing over the road, walk as far as Zara then turn left, go up the hill, then straight in front of you are a load of steps. Go up the steps then turn right. Go through the rather uneven carpark and it's right in front of you. You can get a trolley at the top and go down the lift, or go down the steps and get a pull along basket. The supermarket doesn't look big from the outside but once you are downstairs you find it is very big (and busy!) You can get a taxi back, but they never tell you price, we suggested 3 Euros but I dare say you could get away with 2? We walked most of the time though, it's not far and you can walk under shade most of the way, through all the shopping arcades (Safari Centre) going through Zara and walking all the way through until Parque Santiago 3.

Airport
Prices extremely expensive, don't recommend buying anything! Water 3 Euro a small bottle, coke nearly 4 Euro (small bottle!) Kit Kat 1.95 Euro. Wine, liquer, chocolate, perfume, cigs all a lot dearer than the shops. Banana loaf 7 Euro.

Generally
We found perfume and cosmetics to be no cheaper than prices in Britain, AND that was with their "so called" reductions. Electrical goods all vastly overpriced, even haggling, you could just about get them down to prices found back home, which served no advantage of course. We generally felt most retailers were out to rip you off, not good at all, which is a shame because Tenerife is a beautiful island.

Excursions
We booked most of our excursions through Tenerife Sunshine and I highly recommend this company. Their prices ARE the cheapest we saw, we booked online and printed off tickets and were given pick up times and pick up points mostly by the Best Hotel Tenerife, (5 mins walk). All pick up times were more or less on time and we had no problems whatsoever. We highly recommend the Teide, Icod, Garrachico, Masca trip, the scenery is fabulous, hairpin bends around Masca (not for the faint hearted!), loads of toilet stops!! We booked 2 for price of 1 morning trip to the Aqua Termal spa, we had a right laugh going from hot jacuzzis and hydrotherapy pools to freezing cold pools! And a swim against the current corner (which going the other way you had a lovely rapids type swim, like at the Nottingham Centerparcs!). We highly recommend the Sound of the Musicals show, the entertainers are all British and very talented. We found the show to be highly professional, dazzling, and very funny at times (especially the Sound of Music scene, with the 3 nuns!) You could also drink as much as you could stomach, lager, beer, red, white and rose wine, as well as soft drinks and a two course meal thrown in!

We highly recommend the Royal Delfin 4.5 hr boat trip, again, drink all you can, the Sangria was lovely! We saw the famous whales and dolphins, the cliffs of Los Gigantes, and bathed and snorkelled in Masca Bay (we took our own snorkelling equipment as there is none on the boat). We also went to Siam Waterpark but didn't do Loro Parque as we have been to Seaworld in Florida and San Diego California numerous times, but heard this is highly recommended also. Siam Waterpark is very good, not quite as organised as the Disney parks but definitely worth a visit if you like waterparks. Be careful to get in the right queue for Vulcano or The Dragon, cos I didn't want to do The Dragon and thought we were in the correct queue for Vulcano, but after I had courage to open my eyes to my horror I was inside the massive cone of The Dragon!! What a ride!!! I did survive though, and we laughed so much afterwards! We also "got stuck" on The Giant. We were supposed to float around a "big dish" and then plop through a hole into a slide, but we missed it and got stuck at the side. We then saw some more people in a float come through the shoot into the "big dish" and thought we would collide, so my husband had to wrench ourselves free, we then plopped through the hole into the next slide, but backwards, resulting in us capsizing at the end, ha ha ha! We were asked if we were ok by the lifeguard, we were unharmed, just had stomach ache from laughing! The Lazy River is fabulous with the added addition of the rapids at the end, such good fun!

First Choice
We booked with First Choice/Thomson, who we have always travelled with before, but unfortunately never again, as they never answered any of my emailed questions beforehand, we tried to ring on several occasions but after holding on for nearly 30 minutes on 3 occasions we gave up. Also they changed our carefully selected morning flight to an afternoon flight and returning in the early hours next day (I hate flying at night and was willing to pay extra for day flights) which meant we both had to book an extra day off work. Unfortunately we were delayed nearly 5 hours at Manchester airport and didn't get to our apartment until the early hours next day so we never saw the beautiful island from the air on our arrival which I so wanted to see as this was my first visit. After paying extra for day flights, we ended up with two night flights. It was freezing on the plane and we asked for blankets as it was now a night flight but we weren't told they were sorry they no longer give out blankets on night flights we were told that no other airline gives out blankets, but you can buy one! The First Choice Rep put out of date pick up info on the Notice Board saying we had to leave the hotel at 10.10 when our plane didn't take off until 19.50 that evening and we were told the wrong pick up departure point. We had to call the 24hr helpline to query this. Then the pick up was late, we weren't surprised at this point, it was becoming "typical" of First Choice but we felt for some other people travelling with First Choice who should have been picked up over an hour ago, who ended up jumping into a taxi otherwise they would have missed their flight back home! As said earlier, we were not advised of any building work at the hotel at any stage. First Choice would be our last choice for the future!

Despite the travel company we booked with, we had a fabulous holiday, and would return to Parque Santiago IV again. We have no hesitation recommending them to anyone. A massive thank you to Parque Santiago!

Room Tip: Ring direct if you want to request a room with a seaview and if you want an oven, you must request...

Stayed her again for the third time - it continues to be excellent value for money, very clean and in a great location being near enough to the main shopping/restaurant area but far enough away to be quiet in the night. They have added a gym and a nursery.
My niggles were that we were again given a studio in the main tower block and only one lift was working for the whole two weeks leading to waiting for up to 5 minutes at times , also they are refurbishing the shops at the front of the hotel and creating a new play area for kids, this was obviously very noisy during the day, hopefully this will be completed by the time any of you reading this who are going to stay there. First choice who we booked with failed to tell us this, but worse was to happen with first choice when the return taxi journey I had booked with them to the airport failed to turn up, leading to me having to get a frenzied taxi from the street to make our plane. So if you want to avoid the long coach transfers then get one of the local taxis which should only be 25 euros each way.
Anyway, the pool has plenty of room with loads of Sunbeds, it is salt water and ball games and diving are strictly forbidden, ideal for me who just wants to relax and have the occasional swim to cool off and it got up to 43 degrees.
If you have plenty of money then the restaurants in the main area outside will suit all tastes, if like me you are on a budget, head towards Los Christianos and you will find loads of restaurants offering 3 courses for 8 euros and 1 euro for a large beer and the food is actually very good.

Room Tip: Try and get a pool view away from the tower

We chose this hotel based on reviews on we most certainly not disappointed.

We booked directly with the hotel. We asked them for a sea view room high up.

So the night of arrival. It was about 10.30pm when we got to the hotel. Reception were friendly and smiley. He asked us to pay then. For some reason our card did not work! What a nightmare. BUT the reception man actually was going to let us go to our room and pay the next day. we decided to go and get the money out of a cash machine. But were most pleased he was not pushy and was willing to let us stay without having paid up.

We walked into the room. We had got a studio apartment. Well it was everything we'd hoped for. Lovely little kitchen, with everything you need. Clean kitchen, clean bathroom, clean everything! Reasonable sized bathroom. With a bidet! The overall bathroom and kitchen are not "modern" style. but as long as you know this before you go its not a problem because it IS pleasant and clean.

The beds again you need to know before you go are twin beds. We just simply pushed them together. and when you're warm lets face it its nice to have some space. there was some extra blankets as well because I get cold at night.

Onto the living room. We had a double sofa bed (so if you want to sleep on a double bed you can anyway). this was comfy. There was also a rocking chair. A lamp on a table. A dining table and chairs. A chest of drawers with a flat screen telly. Oh and very expansive wardrobes that lock!

There's a safe too.

The tv didn't have too many English channels but if you work out how to switch between cable and Air there are more! I believe we got bbc and ITV and a few others.

The balcony! Well what a lovely surprise. A round plastic table and chairs and 2 sun loungers. A lovely garden in the wall at the end with plants in.

We were overviewing the pool and sea. What a stunning panoramic view! admittadly not as high up as requested but absolutely not a problem because it was stunning.

On arrival we also had fruit bowl with bananas and oranges and a bottle of white wine.

While there it was my boyfriends 30th. I told staff because i was secreting some cake with them to leave in our room while we were out. But they also left a sweet note and a bottle of cava for him. The reception lady that organised this was friendly every time we asked her anything. Infact all the staff were brilliant. Our room maid was friendly (did not speak english) and did a great job.

we had a cockroach twice, and ants once. Just to give a fair review i need to mention the baddies.

So on to the pools. The heated pool was a god send. I am an utter wimp! You're not really meant to have lilos etc which i did find a little sad because i love a good lilo! the other non heated pool was slightly bigger and both were lovely. Clean, blue and nicely shaped with a shallow entrance "beach" style.

We never had a problem once getting a sunbed. there was only the odd fool who found it necessary to get up at 6 and lay towels out. There really is no need whatsoever here. We went at 10, at 1, at 3 and never ever had an issue. Always got a decent location.

Theres also a little chill out area near the pools and these seats are very comfy and fit 2 on.

We did not try the restaurant by the pool. It looked pricey for what it was. Infact we didnt try any of the restaurants at no. 4. We did eat at some of the Parque restaurants though like the Italian opposite the reception and we did not rate this!

In reception there is also a great internet area. Reasonably cheap. and fast.

The supermarkets are expensive. surprisingly so! Be prepared.

I think overally there is barely any critisim on this hotel or location. It is a ten minute walk from los christianos and a 10 minute walk to playa dal las americas. It is in a nice area with nice shops and restaurants.

Do note this hotel is extremely quiet. Factor this into your decision. We were surprised by the lack of activity. for example noone is out by the pool after 7pm. The bar is shut! we thought there might be a bbq night or some life. there isn't. If you want life you have to leave the hotel. This was fine for us but it is worth noting. It is true that no. 3 is far more lively and they have singers and what not in the shpping centre on a night.

For a romantic break me and my partner recommend wholeheartedly.

hotel absolutely covered all that we had hoped for, only slight problem with building work going on at front of hotel, but to enjoy you have to have the facilities, the little ones will love this new addition. xxxxxx night time entertainment you cant not go past the patch as it has every thing there and you will have to call in to Roxy;s the Blaydon races. The best places to eat is El Cedros but it is also nice and cheep to eat at the Mc Guinness bar in the opposite direction along the beach

my room was 613 and i was quite happy with it. The room is cleaned everyday. Nice views of the sea and town. All mod cons including a safe in your room which is an extra 30 euro. There is one lift to all floors 7 being the top floor. The lift is ok but so slow that most of the time i walked to the 6th floor which is ok. There is free wifi in the reception so don't forget the iphone or ipad. You can also use one of 5 computers for 2 euro for 20 minutes. This hotel is situated next to a lovely sea front with everything you could possibly want nearby. The area is fairly pricey. Think london prices for everything. However if you take a short walk along the see front in the direction of los cristianos or puerto colon things get cheaper! The blue cactus for example does a full english breakfast and a drink for less than 3 euro's. Its very nice to! If you choose this hotel then you have choosen well. The pools are brilliant and you get to go in both parque santiago 3 and iv pools. I preferred 3 as its slightly bigger. Oh and siam park is a must! 10 mins on the bus or 30 mins walk. Enjoy.
