“Central position in Puerto Colon”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

This is the first time we have stayed at this apartment complex. The reception area is modern with good quality decor and comfortable seating. The outside terrace and pool area is lovely with plenty of sunbeds and Balinese loungers. There is also a small friendly pool bar with reasonably priced snacks, but not so good a selection of wine. The chairs are uncomfortable and could do with being replaced. The apartment is basic, but adequate. Good points are: the flat screen t.v. with BBC, ITV terrestial channels, bathroom is brightly lit, good storage in a large cabinet above the toilet and always hot water (only 2 of us in the apartment, so not sure if it is sufficient for 4 if getting showered one ofter the other). The apartment lacks any little extras i.e. cushions on the sofa, small tables by the sofa bed or table lights. The kitchen is adequate with just enough, cutlery, crockery, pots and pans for 4 people. We did not use the oven or microwave so cannot comment. The kettle, toaster was OK but not top of the range. Apparently our apartment has been refurbished, but definitely not gutted and some of the pictures that are available on various websites are of the more luxurious Flamingo Suites that are situated over the road and bear no resemblance to the timeshare apartments above Harleys. Plenty of sunbeds were available no matter what time of the day it was. Pool towels can be hired for 20 Euros deposit (repaid when towels taken back). You also have to pay a deposit of 10 Euros each for the safe and also the remote for the t.v - also reimbursed when taken back. Cleaning was good and towels were changed regularly, but not every day. Bed linen changed once a week. Rubbish also taken away regularly. Bedroom adequate was a good size with small glass dressing tabler, but no chair. Large outside balcony overlooking the pool with uncomfortable chairs and table (same as pool bar) and small balcony overlooking the main street. No washing machine or air condioning. There is a lovely bar /restaurant inside the main reception area that was never packed which is a shame as the barman was very friendly and informative. There is a separate children's pool with adequate sun beds for parents as well as a small jacuzzi. The complex does not have any parking facilities and when asked about this, we were told to park in the street. This we did about 10 minutues walk away and if you are not familiar with the area, can prove difficult. You can pull up outside, with difficulty to offload your cases. I would suggest the refurbishment was a general updating rather than a full refurb.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room that does not have a bedroom that looks out onto the road. The road noise can...

Thank you for your comments. We are very proud of our privileged location on Puerto Colon, and I am glad that you enjoyed the views and close proximity to the beach and all of the amenities that this wonderful resort has to offer. As you have observed, we have worked very hard to complete the refurbishment of the communal areas and we are now working to bring the apartments up to the same high standard.
I am sorry that you had difficulty in parking. We do have some underground parking available however it is very limited and rented out on a first come-first served basis. There is however parking available in the local vicinity for reasonable prices.

we had a really good hoiday in Tenerife this january 2013 staying at the Flamingo club
if you use a hire car use the car park next door to the club it is much cheaper
There are plenty of good price restaurant near by and you are right next to the beach

Last year i purchased a 3 year membership through Flamingo Club i came back on my first holiday to Flamingo Club ( As per contract )it was good, not the best room ever but nice and comfortable, people were really friendly and all was as mentioned on the paperwork, i have now just come back from my first "Worldwide" trip ( Part of the package) from Bali, in Bali they had me stay at the Jimbaran Hills Resort, absolutely fanatstic resort!! great holiday and all according to what i was promised, although i would say that the only downside was having to be a bit specific with my dates for Bali trip, but otherwise all smooth. I can only say that so far all that was promised has materialised, still have the European holiday left to do, will comment once have had the final holiday of the package.

Room Tip: Try coming on the friday check in day, seems they hand out the best rooms on a friday!!

We went on a Timeshare exchange and although I had some reservations due to a lot of negative review, when I looked on the company website, the apartment we had exchanged into was one of the luxury villas by the pool. On arrival the resort itself looks OK nice reception area and poolside and gardens looked OK. After having to pay 25€ for services and 25€ for the safe we were shown our "luxury villa" The first thing we were met with was a dead cockroach on the kitchen worktop. The furniturewas not just in need of updating it was tatty, the skirtings were hanging of the wall and kitchen cupboard doors were warped. The TV was tiny and you had to pay 10€ for a remote. Out in the terrace the wall was so high there was no view and no light. The seal on the oven was hanging off and the microwave was rusty, The bath was ancient and stained as were the shower curtains. The shower attachment was only for a hand held shower so when you turned it on the water shot across the room, it was impossible to have a stand up shower. I could go on and on, stained floors, the maintainance mans response to the seal hanging off the oven door was to pull it off and declare, "now it is not a problem". Then there was the noise from Puerto Colon, loud music until 02.30 then the neighbours came home and did not go to bed until 05.30. Reception staff were unhelpful. I could not stay another day and checked out resulting in us having to pay another £400 to booking in somewhere else.

Room Tip: Just don,t waste you money. The location is great, but the room are no better than hovels.

As owners for many years, we have seen quite a few changes to say the least. Just back from our usual 2 weeks; despite many promises over recent years, still awaiting refurbishment of our apartment. There are a few updated rooms, but generally the rest are clean but "tired". If you don't want an uncomfortable pull-out bed, book a 1 or 2 bed apartment, and avoid the studios. All rooms have basic kitchen facilities ( fridge, hob, oven, microwave, toaster etc.). However, the TV will be a 12" "out of the Ark" portable, and only a ceiling fan for comfort. Public areas have been much improved over last few years. Evening BBQ, Spanish and Italian nights are good value, providing food and entertainment for about 10 Euros. However, avoid the Russian Karaoke night! Nice pool area, with plenty of beds, and the beach bar is good for daytime snacks and drinks. 24 hour reception staff may not be the happiest, but problems sorted in 10 minutes is what counts. Drink prices are reasonable in both the beach and lounge bars, but as they both have "happy hours", drinks become very good value. The location of the Flamingo was what made us buy, and it continues to be it's trump card. Go out the front or the back, and you are immediately in the middle of bars, restaurants, the beach, and the bus stop is 100 yards up the road. We'll be back next year, still hoping for our refurbishment!

Room Tip: No lifts, so, if a problem, try and get a ground floor room. Studios only have pull out beds, but ca...

Visited the Flamingo club in June 2012. This was the first time I had been to Tenerife. I was really impressed by the modern look both inside and outside the place. Rooms had recently been upgraded and refurbished to a very high standard. The staff were approcahable and very pleasant.
I then returned in September and must say that this is in the perfect location overlooking a great beach and across the sea to the nearest Island of Gomera. Overlooking the marina with so many top class restaurants and bars right on the doorstep. The entertainment at the Flamingo club is excellent, as is the BBQ's and party nights that they hold. All in all thoroughly recommended and I will be back again soon.

Room Tip: Premier rooms have ocean view - but even the rooms overlooking the mountains ( Teide etc) are accep...
