Green Ocean
Ranked #111 of 134 Hotels in Playa del Ingles
Reviewed February 27, 2012

As other reviewers have stated the Green Ocean is in actual fact not in Playa del Ingles, but between Playa del Ingles and San Agustin. This is the first thing you notice. Then, after checking in with a receptionist who seemed a little tired of life on this volcanic island, come the stairs. I'm fine as I'm able bodied and reasonably fit but I certainly could not see anyone who is not so lucky to fare too well here. I had to take my cases up and then come back down to help my girlfriend and was pretty sweaty by the end of it. What you do get though is a lovely view of the Atlantic for your efforts though which certainly went to appease me.

The room was basic, the lock on the door was not convincing at all, and the cleanliness of the room was below par - there was a dead cockroach in our kitchen lightshade.

The breakfast was the same every day. The only variety day-by-day was what they did to the eggs, but invariably this involved overcooking them. These were served with cold meats and cheese, bread rolls, a little salad and fruit and some cereal.

This is a budget hotel, but I have stayed at others of a similar grade who have managed to keep the rooms cleaner and serve breakfast with more pride.

didnt listen to the reviews, how wrong can you get.built into the hillside, overlooking the beach.just a shame you had to cross a 8 lane motorway to get to it.after the 1st week you get used to the airbrakes, horns and fumes.many many steps.good if your in training to be a mountain climber.tried to form a escape commitee, but my wife and i were the only two british peeps there.she wouldnt join incase the digging broke her new nails.no tv,kettle.toaster or microwave.shower worked for 14 seconds so be quick.20 min walk to the shops and bars or a five quid taxi into playa del englis.would go there again if i was piloting a lancaster bomber.john and shelly from rotherham

Room Tip: dont go unless you cant get anywhere else

Stayed in this complex 11dec2010 for one week on a self catering basis.Booked via the internet so did not know what to expect. On arrival nowhere near Playa de Ingles and a good twenty minuet walk to the nearest shops and restaurants. Apartment could have done with a makeover and there was to many steps to get to our room which was a problem with suitcases. Not suitable for the disabled.Pool area was good with a decent pool bar.

Room Tip: Stayed in room no 52 facing bar and pool no problems with noise.

We had looked on trip advisor and read that we had Wifi and TV. When we arrived we found out there wasn't either. This was a surprise and disappointment. We actually got by without the trappings of technology!

The apartments were clean. The hot water was great once you got used to the water heater. It is small and you had to wait about 15 minutes between showers or baths as it had to refill, no biggy!

There are only 2 rings to cook on. There is no toaster or kettle, not even to hire. We did ask about hiring a fan (it was very hot even at night) and was told we could but it would take a few days as they needed to order them. You can keep your window open but we were worried about creepy crawlies!

The pool and our little terrace area was was great with plenty of sun loungers.

The reception staff were really helpful and the maids were great too.

it is very close to the beach and lots of restaurants.

We enjoyed our stay, although we probably wouldn't have chosen it if we knew all the details! It was a good cheap break.

Overall it was a good holiday and we enjoyed out stay there!

We booked our holiday via Teletext...We were expecting a last minute cheap and cheerful 2 week holiday. This was not the case.

On arrival: the outside and surronding area of the appartment was in poor condition and not well maintained in the slightest. Also not in Playa Del Ingles as stated in the advertisement! We were met by a man at the reception desk, who did not give us an introduction to the complex. Which does not appear suitable for those with difficulty with stairs. Arrived to our appartment which I can only describe as a major let down!! Our room was open to the pool side therefore minimal privacy, a view to a shabby, old, dirty pool and a road, but the advert did deliver on a sea view.

The "shop" at the reception desk was very poorly stocked the fridge was broken with a big puddle on the floor, there was mould on the back of the fridge and also a dead cockroach that remained in the fridge for the duration of our stay....only the brave would buy from this "shop".

The Room: small living area, broken sofa, no tv, no air conditioning, bathroom was DISGUSTING the bath didnt seem to have any enamel left on th bottom, the shower curtain was dirty, the wood around the door rotting, and this appeared to be one of the meeting points for the NUMEROUS COCKROACHES that were also resident in the apartment. They also appeared a few occasions in the "kitchenett" which was also in apauling condition, 2 hobs, mould growing around the whole of the work top, mould around the taps and a good hiding place for the roaches! The bedroom was tiny with only a small window! I did not sleep at all during our stay.
We where so disappointed with this place that after 5 days of not sleeping, getting out of the shower dirty than when we got in, dodging the cockroaches and stray cats we decided that enough was enough and moved to another hotel.

This most definately was not a cheap or cheerful holiday and would have spoiled our holiday if we had not changed location!!

Stayed here for a week. On the edge of the resort which suited us as we have young children and it was away from the noise. Next to the main road, but we heard no road noise, even by the pool. Site itself had many steps, beware of this, however did mean excellent views of the sea.
Appartment was good, although extra bed in lounge were a bit worn. Good pool, cleaned daily.
We stayed all inclusive which included drinks and three meals a day. Food was of an excellent standard and staff were really helpful and friendly.
Felt was good vaule for what we paid, however site would benefit from some tender loving care as it looked tired in places.
