“Best Budget Hotel we've stayed iat in Playa Del Ingles”
Reviewed April 11, 2011

Ok, so when the coach pulled up to the hotel, we were a bit like , "good god dont let this be us!", but as the saying goes, never judge a book by its cover.

Once you go through the dark reception you get out to a bright clean complex. Our bungalow was just off the pool area and was got the sun all day long.

Inside, the first thing to hit you, was the smell of things being clean, everything was neat and tidy. Yeah the styling, the furntiture etc were a bit dated but come on, its not like we paid a lot for the holiday! All the basic facilities were there, shower, hot water, microwave, wardrobe, cupboard space, seating inside and outside. This was a 1 week break to knock the old winter cobwebs off us.

The location of the hotel is brilliant. We were less than 5 mins from the Yumbo centre, had a couple of supermarkets within 3 minutes, and the beach was about a 10 min walk.

The complex was quite busy when were there but it didnt seem it, its wasnt noisy, apart from a couple of kids, next time i'll double check school holiday dates!

The only disappointing this really was the pool had a lot of dead flies in it, which is to be expected for an outdoor pool, but sometimes it was a bit off putting when you were in the pool.

Will i go again? Damn right, i'll be there again in Novemeber!

we are about to leave rebcca park, this is our last night, till now it´s all been great EXCEPT, we have just started to pack up all bits & bobs for the journey home and found that money has been taken from our bungalow today, we know it was today as we have had a little english money in the bed side drawer for the last 2 weeks and 20 pound of that is gone. not a masive amount, we did have a safe and used that for all the euros and jewellery but bits of english change were thrown into the bedside drawer on arrival, we have used that drawer every day whilst we´ve here and its all been there untill today. We have tried to complain to reception, but they don´t want to know. the only people who get access to the rooms are maid service, we never leave the door open, even when we´re by the pool the door is locked and the key with us at all times. however, reception simply will not beleave that it is possible that one of their many staff may have taken money from the rooms.... A great shame that they do not handle complaints well as untill now our stay was great. will definatley put us off returning in the future. we run a small B&B ourseleves and are aware that trust in your staff is of the untmost importance and we pride ourselves in the fact that allot of our guests feel comfortable leaving cash, watches, mobile and the like around in their rooms knowing they will be there when they return. Something that rebecca park needs to look at again. There is no formal way of complaining with reception about this as we have tried and they simply do not want to know.

Hi
We went to gran canaria on 8th January2011, and staid for a week. Having read some of the reveues before we went I was naturally aprehensive about going there. I need not have worried, the place was spotless, the maids came every day, the linen was change twice, and clean towels whenever you needed them. There was not a speck of dust at all, and the place was quite full of holiday makers. Yes they are basic apartments, Some of them have been updated with new bathrooms etc, and the plans are todo more, The kitchen utensils were for 3 peole , could have done with a few more bowls, but never mind. I would reccomend yougo there, if you are looking for something cheap and cheerful, then this is the place. All the local amenties are within 5minutes walk, and the staff were supereb very friendly and helpful, would I go back, most definately. You get what you pay for

Went to Rebeca Park for 1 week from January 1st, check in was really quick, rooms are not luxury, but very good basic accomodation, excellent value for money, travel republic, was the best price availalable, we paid £200 for a bungalow for 1-4 people, some other sites where charging double for the same thing, maid service was excellent, maid came daily apart from Sunday, and Thursday, which was a Bank Holiday in Spain, the room was cleaned, and pots washed up, dried, and put away, it was my Birthday on the Wednesday, and the maid made a Swan out of towels, and put a fresh flower in it, and used My Birthday Girl sash. to decorate, my bed, which was a nice touch, it had pay to view tv, if wanted, and a microwave, which was handy, as not all basic accomodation provide them, There is a Shower and toilet, at the back of room 101,by the pool, to use if you have a late flight, We stayed in room 130 and it was nice and quiet, no traffic noise, We have no complaints, breakfast was available for 3.90 euros, which was excellent, fruit juice, cereals, toast, jam, marmalade, coffee, and a full English, People who complain sometimes expect to much, you have paid for basic accommodation, if you want luxury, afraid you have to pay alot more money.
No aircon, but we knew this, and was fine for this time of year, I personally wouldn't go anywhere without aircon in summer months.

My husband and I have just returned from 3 wonderful weeks staying at the Rebecca Park. Arrived 18 December and departed 8 January and what fun we had.
The bungalows are basic but have everything you could need. Sheets changed at least twice a week and towels at least 3 times every week (or whenever they needed it as cleaners checked them every day and changed them if necessary). I agree it is not 5 star but then, we did not pay for 5 star and having stayed here twice already, last winter, we knew we would have a clean, comfortable place to stay.
The staff are phenomenal. Cleaners are thorough and always so cheerful, they do not speak much english but it is amazing what a few hand gestures and smiles, along with politeness can do. Our cleaner became a friend and nothing was too much trouble for her. The place was spotless every day, she even washed up any dishes we had left out (not many as we went out to eat 'cos not on holiday to cook so toast or a quick sandwich was our maximum effort) and if any were left to drain she put them away. We were self catering so was very, very surprised and pleased about their level of commitment to our comfort.
The bar/restaurant run by Lorraine (Lola) was a treat. Tito was the chef and cooked like an angel. Such a gentle man, really interesting to talk to and can only be described as "lovely". Lola was a total nutcase and we spent many, many hours chatting and laughing. She is the perfect hostess and helped to make our holiday such a success. Many times my stomach was hurting with the laughing we did with her. She is such a breath of fresh air from the usual bar staff we have found over the years and is never still, always seems to find time for her customers though and again, nothing was too much trouble. If you read this Lola, don't forget the passport, or else.
Reception is run by 3 staff & I will take them individually beginning with Hermann. He is such a nice, nice man. Efficient and friendly (lovely actually) he is quick off the mark if you report any problem to him. We found him to be friendly, chatty and an all round "good guy".
Mague, again was such a love. She was so helpful and if you needed information about trips etc. she was always happy to get on the phone to find you the very best deal. What a real gem she was. Had a real sense of humour, which was so endearing.
Now to our favourite staff member, Ana. We became real friends with her after our visits last year, keeping in touch via internet throughout this year we ended up practically adopting her. Bless her, she calls us her English Mama and Papa. We have met her Mum and her sister Pino who are also the sweetest, nicest people you could possibly meet. Mama even sent us some oranges picked from her own tree, which were as sweet and lovely as they are. Professionally, she is a real "find". Again, nothing was too much trouble and any problems were dealt with efficiently, speedily and tactfully.
My advice to anyone booking this accomodation is to pay 2 star prices, expect 2 star facilities but 5 star service. Use tact and plain good manners when dealing with the staff and if your approach is kind their approach to you will be phenomenal.
The very best recommendation I can give is that we cannot wait to return in May and next Christmas again.

Reviewed November 27, 2010

OVERVIEW : We stayed at the Rebbecca Park Complex for 2 weeks in November 2010 on a self catering basis. Having read some of the more negative reviews I have to admit we were a bit apprehensive but considering the location suited us ideally we were prepared to take the gamble due to the very reasonable cost . Having been to Playa de Ingles on over 8 occasions previously and having stayed at a mix of 3 and 4 star hotels or apartments I am pleased to say this is the only the second place I would be keen to rebook if available. We were booked into room 140 which was at the rear of the complex and had its own private courtyard shared with 5 other bungalows. In my opinion the best area within the complex. Having shared a few beers with a number of guests over the 2 week period we shared positive feedback from all with regards to location whether your room was poolside, by the tennis court or at the rear as mentioned earlier. As with all apartment developments there are a number of rooms/locations I would have been less pleased to have been offered. I do like to get the sun in the morning!! I am confident that if you were given a room that you were not happy with a polite request for an another would be arranged for you depending on the availablity of an alternative. I am sure you would all agree that if you have realistic expectations and don't book a 2 star and then get there and expect 5 star accomodation then the Rebbecca Park offers what it says on the tin. What you may be surprised with is that the complex is run by a dedicated small team of 5 star individuals!! I have worked in recruitment for over ten years and each staff member is worth their weight in GOLD. Due to the small number of staff you will quicky work out that multi tasking and looking after a number of areas often required of the staff. It is worth remembering that the more staff a complex has the higher your cost of your holiday will be. I suspect this tight ship is where the owner has been able to save cost in order to keep the price of the accomadation so reasonable. The staff made our holiday. I do hope the owner of the complex takes the time to read these reviews as he really does have a fantastic hard working team.

LOCATION: 1 minute from the Gran Chaparall Centre. ( Recommend the Windmill Bar run by Kim with the help from Liam, Rodger and staff. Good priced drinks with lighthearted entertainment in the form of quizzies and bingo. 4 minutes from the Yumbo ( Bar Mystique run by Mark, the unforgetable Miss Abi, Deek and staff is great for a good atmosphere. Miss Abi knows her stuff and works the crowd well ensuring you feel personally welcome) The kasbah is only 10 minutes walk away. If you do plan to spend each day at the beach/dunes then be prepared for a good 20 minute walk to either.

RECEPTION: Run by the beautiful Ana and team. Nothing was too much trouble. Any requests were dealt with quickly.

CLEANING: The bungalow was fully cleaned at least 10 days over the 14. This included a full sweep and mopping of the entire bungalow. I have a feeling that if we had not had a few late night requiring a lie in that number would have been higher. I was only aware of the cleaners being away from the complex for one day over the 14. Our towels and linen were changed around about every 2-3 days. The cleaning team was 2 very nice ladies who from a customer service point of view were excellent. Constant smiles and little laughs with us a pleny.

ROOM : The bungalow was very spacious with living area and kitchenette. TV was pay for view. If you go on holiday and like to watch a lot of TV then this may be something to consider. Didn't use the thing once. The way I like it. The furnishings were pretty basic and could do with updating but did the job. Bed was of a typical standard to be expected. At night the complex is pretty quiet so noise will not be an issue.

BAR : Staffed by the delightful Lola. A real wee english rose despite having not been "home" for over 20 years! Lola really made us feel welcome and kept myself and partner entertained on many a evening. For you lager lovers out there the pints of San Miguel in frozen pint glasses are top notch!!! Collect your own glasses from the freezer A little help and consideration goes a long way! On a number of occasions we witnessed Lola going behond the call of duty to ensure her guests has a great stay. An example being where a quest had requested a specific type of cake for dessert that was unavailable or not normally offered. Lola went and bought a cake out of her own money to ensure this request was met.

RESTAURANT: Food is generally cooked or prepared by Tito or Ana. As we had booked self catering we did not use the restaraunt as often as we may/should have. I would recommend booking half board. Having checked most sites the cost works out on avarage around £12 extra a day. The steak and mushroom sauce was to die for. We found the portions huge and the quality excellent.

OTHER GUESTS: We found the complex to be a mix of nationalities mostly British and the Nordic countries. We met a real mix of people and found that often the polite mornings and hello's often developed into great conversations and beers at the bar later in the day. The complex is large enough to give you privacy when needed but small enough for you to get to know people easily. The complex is refreshingly very Gay friendly in a who gives a toss kinda way!

| hope you find this review useful. If you do decide to stay here please pass on our regards to Lorraine (aka Lola!)
