Bungalows Los Almendros Gays Exclusive Vacation Club
Reviewed June 25, 2013

Stayed from the 10-20th June. Had an really good time and enjoyed the resort. We stayed in a bungalow that was away from the pool which gave us the option of having a nice quiet break is we wanted too. The room was a good size with a massive double bed. Plenty of hot water and the kitchenette had all that we required, not that we done any cooking in there.

If you wanted a more interactive time then a pool side room would be a better choice as there is music playing all round the pool into the evening.

There was a pool party on the Friday afternoon which brought in a few people from other places and it was quite busy and a good atmosphere.

The pool and jacuzzi were nice, although bits from the trees kept falling in the jacuzzi and could do with being netted out more often.

The cleaners came round almost daily with a change of towels and sheets on alternative days.

We were met with a nice friendly receptionist who spoke good English and made us feel very welcome.

We checked out on a Thursday which is a good day to leave as the cleaners were not in so we could keep our rooms until we need to leave for the airport.

It was disappointing that the bar prices are a bit expensive but as there is a Spar across the road, we just brought our drinks from there and the barmen were grumpy.

My main complaint, and most people we spoke to that were there, was the WiFi service. You get charged extra for the WiFi, which isn't so much of a problem, but you have to log into it every time you want to use it and it sometimes logs you out whilst using it. There are different routers around the complex and you have to log into each one as well.

Apart from the bar and WiFi, which are not major issues, we had an excellent time here and will definitely be going back.

I have stayed here many times and have even got positive review on here boosting 100% for los Almendros int he past. Well not now.
This place has turned into an absolute sham since Raymond was sacked. The bar staff are rude and un helpful and make you feel as though you are an inconvenience for being there. The pool is filled with no residence and this makes it difficult to relax and get a sunbed by the pool. It almost feels as though if your English.... They're not interested in you being there.
I really can't describe how glad I was to leave the last time and will never go back again.

Dear user,

In reference to your last post on 23/06/2013, we really regret that after spend your stay with us in January you could not send the comments until the date mentioned last June.

We have noticed a radical change in your opinion about us in just few months from June 2012 until January this year, being your previous post really positive.

We regret to tell you that we are deeply in a disagreement about your comment related to the English customers.

Bungalows los Almendros is a resort characterized by being the most cosmopolitan in Playa del Inglés and we work hard day by day in order to offer the best services for all our friends and customers.

Sincerely yours.

Stayed here for a second time in May 2013, this time with my partner. Booking and check in was great, we had asked for an airport transer too, which was efficient and good value. Had a poolside bungalow, with an enormous double bed, so no complaints. However, about half way through the week, there was a lot of drilling and banging going on. Turns out a new sound system was being installed, with speakers on the external walls of bungalows surrounding the pool. Onve they were up and running, the noise was relentless. Previously, the music was froma sound system in teh bar, which was background music around the pool. This turned it inot a nightclub though. Even going to bed for an hour in the afternoon was challenging, as the noise was so loud. One neighbour behind us had bought earplugs to sit on his patio with. The music was there to attract non-residents, it transpired, so for the last few days the poolside was being sed by people payin g to come in. Women, as well as men. Residents tend to have a healthy respect for other residents, and make sure that everyone gets along,. but the dynamic with non-residents changed, so the whirpool effectively was out of bounds. By the time I was going home, I was quite relieved.

Whilst I've enjoyed the two visits here, I'm already exploring other options for future visits to Gran Can, the loud music and screaming girls and boyz getting bollocksed around the pool with no consideration for residents after a relatively quiet afternoon in the sun spoiled it for me. I assume it's just an out of season thing to drum up trade, bvut they can do that without me as a paying guest next time.

Room Tip: If you're worried about the noise, then do ask for a bungalow away from the pool!

Friends and I stayed at Los Almendros in March 2013 for a week. One of us almost got cold feet prior to departure due to some very unfavourable reviews. We'd like to give our impressions.

We found the whole set-up at Almendros great. Staff were welcoming and friendly. The grounds, including some fabulous looking cacti and palms, were very well-maintained. The pool area was perfect for all-day lounging, with some not-too loud pop and a convivial atmosphere. The Yumbo and access to the dunes are only 5-10 minutes' walk away.

Sure, the mattresses were not the most luxurious, and our bathroom could have done with updating, but for the price, the self-contained flats were bargains. The majority of other guests were friendly and fun, and with the mostly great weather, we had a really relaxing and entertaining time.

Recommended for an affordable and enjoyable gay break.

The place is very well locates. Beach is not far, very tranquil pool area - no wind, all bars & restaurants are close also. The place in general is not bad & very simple, it's not a luxury boutique hotel. But normal place for spend time with friends on the island. The bungalows are clean (cleaning service works very good), but with old furtinure. But they have kitchen equipment and you can cook. We didn't use a pool (water was freezing). Wifi not free and signal is very poor. When we came hotel was overbooked and manager proposed us to spend one night at other hotel, but we decided just to share 2 bungalows for 3 persons instead two, next day they granted us 2 bottels of good cava. So it was Dec 31 and it was nice. But, in general good place to stay for this money.

Just back from 8 nights at Los Almendros. This was our fourth stay here and have to say that it continues to be a great place to stay.

Positives:
Location is brilliant - 10 minute walk to the Yumbo centre, close enough to get there easily but far enough away so as it's not on your doorstep and noisy.
Reasonable selection of restaurants nearby.
Bungalows are a good size with a massive double bed.
Patio outside your room is a nice place to sit for breakfast or chill out in late afternoon.
Ricardo the Barman is brilliant, very friendly and funny and always a pleasure to chat with him.
Pool is clean and nice size.
The whole complex has a feeling of space and is well presented.
Very easy to chat and get to know people staying here - we've always met other people.

Negatives:
Not enough sunbeds at times. Usual story of people reserving beds and then hardly using them.
Matresses for the sunbeds need replacing - old and a bit grubby.
No courtesy room on day of departure. Have to be out of room by 12:00 and nowhere to shower, freshen up and change.
Building work at 8:30am outside our room showed lack of thought for guests (they did stop after I complained).

Would we return? Definitely - we looked at some of the other gay resorts nearby and Los Almendros looked the nicest one.

Room Tip: Depends on your preference - pool rooms are nice because they are next to the pool, but limited priv...

We have been regular visitors to LA for many years. Our last visit was Feb/Mar of this year, when we also saw lots of other familiar faces returning. We never ask for a specific bungalow, just a quiet location, and this is exactly what we got. The new reception team were great, thank you for meeting our request.

It was refreshing to see new decor, instead of those instantly recognisable curtains, and as per usual, the bungalow was spotless. Great also, to see the new blue towels, and even a new bathroom sink! It's difficult to please all of the people all of the time, and I could mention the odd snag, but did anything spoil my holiday? Of course not, I had a fantastic week, and I can't wait for our next visit.

I would strongly recommend LA as a place to stay. So many people returning year on year can't be wrong. Well done & thank you LA team, keep up the good work.

PS - I would also recommend people make more use of the LA bar. It's a great place to get chatting to people or even have a relaxing drink by the pool. Have had some brilliant nights there, and not managed to get out the door!!
