The biggest bug bear about this place is the drinks. Water at €2.50, beer at €4. Your not supposed to bring your own drinks or food in but people do, especially water as its a rip off here, you can get the same water in the supermarket down the road for 40cents! If drinks were reasonably priced, like the food they sell, then I'm sure more people would buy.

I was at the studios this time last year and was very dissapointed, and decided I wouldnt be staying there again, until I noticed that it had been taken over and money spent on it. which was well overdue.
And what a change the new owners have made, excellent facilities, clean and busy with day guests. i guess the word has got around about the changes well done I'll be staying there for the Fetish Week. can't wait,

Room Tip: the rooms were spotless, well done to the cleaning team. and the bar staff very friendly.

Stayed from Feb 1 to 4 2013.
Was surprised with the comfort, quality and service. Of course this is not a traditional hotel but more like a small private club for gay people to enjoy.
Pluses: -great location across the street from the Yumbo Center
- Full complimentary breakfast served every morning with a smile
- The fact that non residents can spend the day around the pool if they comply with
the pool/outside area dress code (actually NO dress, not even pants or shirts)
Minuses: - music played (at a reasonable level) from 10 am to 9 pm...even at siesta time)
- the rooms' furniture is basic.... but quite new
- the wednesday sex party: loud music played until quite late, lots of outside
customers, security doubtful: if you're not into this sort of stuff, go out that night
and stay away until at least 2 am.
- showers have been revamped but there should be a shower curtain to avoid
flooding; hot water supply is not really enough during the winter. The electric
heater should be twice as big or they should use solar pannels.
Service: Absolutely perfect. Cleaners and bartenders were extremely helpful at all times.

I wil most certainly go back.

Room Tip: bungalows 1 and 3 and studio 5 get more sun. Bungalows 2, 4 and 6 normally have twin beds but they will change them upon request (isn't that great service?)

As regular visitors to this complex , we were clearly concerned last year when the complex changed hands and changes were made to the staff .It would have been a great shame if Basement Studios had lost any of its niche appeal ..
Therefore when we arrived on Christmas Eve for our annual migration (we always try and fly south for the winter to avoid christmas - yuk) it was with some trepidation .
Well the good news is we need not have worried in fact in many way Basement Studios is certainly a "new improved" version of its own self .
The staff we friendly and attentive , breakfast first rate , accomodation has been refurbished with new furniture , air conditioning (thank god ! ) , the whole place just felt a little spruced up , whilst still retaining its "atmosphere" and unique features
Then we saw the new bar area .. what a difference ! Clearly some money is being spent here and you can see it , bright , clean , spacious , friendly , well stocked .
Basement still has a good mix of visitors , both residents and day guests , it felt like business as usual in every way .
The new management seem passionate about their new venture , I guess during the transistion it must have been difficult for them as people are always resistant to change , but don't worry guys , keep doing what you're clearly focuced on and providing a good holiday experience and you'll do fine
ME ? I'm going back for Gran Canaria in pride , like we do every year with no hesitation
