“Just a great place to stay”
Reviewed December 22, 2009

Stayed at Parquemar in October and November - a great vacation. All the staff made me feel welcome and they were so friendly and smiling "todo los dias".
I have found my place whenever I go back to Playa del Ingles and look forward to stay there again i January and February 2010.
Just a short walk from San Fernado, Youmbo and Kasbah and all other places around there.

We stayed here from Nov. 25.09. to 02.12.09. Self Catering. Usual 2 Rings, Kettle, Toaster and enough Plates, Cutlery, Etc:
All around were Couples, Family, Friends, of all Nations, so quite a mixed bag, which we Like.
We stayed in a Bungalow. Two floors. Lounge and one bed/bath, ground floor and one bed/bath above but very noisy stairs??????.
We did a mixture of S/C and eating out and found S/C better value but limited. We ate Chinese/Chilli/ and Indian all S/C with what we had and found it most enjoyable on the Terrace.
Rooms were cleaned as and when. The thing I found STRANGE was the Cleaners arrived and asked if you wanted your apartment cleaned that day and if you gave no response just vanished and left clean towels.
All in all would say OK and we had a good deal on price through Alpharooms and Ryanair flying from Bham.
I would like to say as a general comment that Gran Canaria and more so Playa del Ingles has become, like all other resort towns, EXTREEMLY expensive and would consider other resorts in the Canaries above this.

went to parquemar sep/oct for a week and was surprised with the bungalows ,loads of space inside and nice garden outside.only problem we had was the road noise(there is a dual carriage way at the bottom end of grounds) we were in bungalow no 001 so the traffic was loud 24hrs a day, better to get a bungalow nearer the hotel block.
apart from that we would go back , had a couple of cockroaches but nothing that would put us off .pool area ok ,over all good value for money, clean and tidy

The Parquemar hotel is in two parts - A block of single studio appartments, set over several floor and duplex bungalows laid out around the pool. We booked a studio for under £150 for the week. The room not the biggest but comfortably held two twin beds, a wooden framed sofa, and a large cupboard. This is not luxury accomodation but clean and functional if not a little tired, but at this price it was more than expected. The kitchenette had a fridge with ice box, two ring hob and various plates/bowls etc. Out studio was on the top floor and benefitted from a balcony looking towards the sea. It was large enough to have a table and chairs on it.

The maid service was every other day.

The reception desk was open 24hrs and the staff polite and helpfull. Internet access is provided by two pay as your surf terminals and also WiFi.

There is a restaurant part of the building leading out to the street.

The only thing I could really remember being a pain was the dredfull live entertainment noise from the hotel next door.

Parqumar apartments are in a resonable good location with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. The bungalows are a good size and the privacy is brill, quite a few ants in our bungalow and the occasional cockroach but not a huge problem. Pool area however was not great, sunbeds were virtually fixed in position and as such were never cleaned under, tiles were dirty and the sunbeds had cigarette burns very obvious where previous tenants were less than careful. Our first week or so had a nice mix of families and some younger set but by our last few days the number of loud singles male and female had increased. Probably would not go back while overall it was not too bad a complex. But if you like your pool area then dont go here.

  • Liked — Privacy of bungalows
  • Disliked — Crappy pool area

Stayed at the Parquemar Apartement in January. They are just next to the Gran Chaperal shopping Centre. And just along from the Yumbo if thats your thing!! There are bungalows and there are apartments in the complex.
We were put up on the 3rd floor of the aparments with no lift so not ideal if you are elderly because you had to carry your cases up all the stairs. However the apartments were very clean and the maids came in every 2nd day to clean up. The bungalows looked much better so I would probably book them again if I went back there. Very good basic accommodation for the cost of the holiday.

THE ROOMS: [Bedrooms] 2 x twin rooms, in Dec we needed extra blankets, just ask at reception. There's a safe in the cupboard, you'll need to pay to rent this. [Living area] Decent size, just about seats 7 people (using the kitchen chairs), the TV is pay per view, I think it was about 1 euro an hour. [Kitchen] fridge, 2 electric hobs, a kettle, toaster and coffee maker, crockery/cutlery and just about enough of everything else to make a cooked breakfast, tea-towel, a new sponge thing, a new dishcloth and a little bottle of washing up liquid. [Bathroom] Large sink area, large mirror, toilet, shower: if there's a few of you then be quick as there's not loads of hot water. [Outside] Balcony that comes off the upstairs bedroom, big enough for 3-4 chairs, patio area outside front door, comes with plastic table & 4 chairs, pretty garden with a bit of grass, a hedge and a few flowers. [Cleaners] Maids seem to come everyday to make beds, empty bins and clean the floors, I think the towels got changed every 2 days, I'm not sure when the bedding was changed, I didn't pay enough attention!

THE COMPLEX: The grounds are well kept, pretty and clean. The pools a decent size and was (just about) warm enough in december! The reception staff are very helpful and professional. There is a private, free carpark, just ask at reception. There is a restaurant next door where you can get 10% off. There is a decent size grocery shop on the other side of the entrance. It shouldn't be a 1 star, it's much better than any 1 star!

LOCATION: Turn right and walk for 1 min and you'll get to the Gran Chapparal centre, there are spanish and british restaurants, dutch (good atmosphere) and british pubs and trinket shops. Turn left and walk for 4 mins and you'll get to a bigger grocery store, a pharmacy, chinese and spanish restaurants, british pubs and mini golf! The beach is about a 12 minutes away, but it's an easy walk.

Taxi's go past several times a minute and fares are cheap so if you want to go a bit further or don't want to walk it's no problem.

  • Liked — Clean and spacious bunglalows, well kept surroudings, friendly reception.
  • Disliked — The very noisy stairs inside the bungalows. Not starting out with enough blankets for the chilly December nights.
