“Sunsuites Amazonas is a lovely little place to stay”
Reviewed September 7, 2010

Although most of the other holidaymakers there were Spanish we had a lovely stay all due to the lovely staff. They don't speak a great deal of English (enough to get by) and appreciate it when you try to speak a little Spanish, and they are very helpful. You still get the 2 free bread rolls every morning, and we even had a free 2 litre bottle of water in the fridge on arrival. We got 2 sunbeds and a parasol no problem - at 1 p.m. (August surprisingly isn't their busiest time). Paco the barman (and general handyman) is a gem. We were allowed to pop in a week after leaving (to be picked up by the bus) and were even given a key to use a spare room for a shower (free!!). Really handy for the beach and the bars, yet you don't hear any noise from the bars even at 2 a.m.

I want to say thank you for the wonderful time we had while staying at the Sunsuits Amazonas. We found the apartment spotlessly clean and very comfortable, as a matter of fact the whole building both inside and outside was in the same condition. All the staff were very helpful especially Lotta on the reception deck (who spoke English) and a special mention to Francisco and his wife who run the restaurant, they served us wonderful food at very reasonable prices. The location of the Amazones is superb, 5 minutes to the beach, 5 minutes to the Kasbah/Metro shopping centre and at the same time it's a quiet location as it's in a dead-end street with very little passing traffic so a good nights sleep was assured. Another plus for me was the age group of the clientele, most were retired people (like myself) so I would have no reservations about recommending it to any of my friends.Another nice touch was the welcome pack when we arrived and every morning two bread rolls delivered to our door. All in all we had a most enjoyable holiday, we were there for four weeks (all of Feburary) I wish we could have stayed longer.

We didn't book this hotel as part of a package so we weren't really sure what to expect having just read a couple of internet reviews but it was a good place to stay.

This hotel was nice enough and offered some things over and above the expected such as a little welcome pack in the room with washing up liquid etc. and the self catering facilities are decent enough. Never got those bread rolls in the morning though!

Reception staff were variable in english speaking ability but we made ourselves understood well enough. A warning though, to ladies especially, DO NOT use the path right by the hotel signposted to the beach, we had a near miss with a guy who exposed himself to us and tried to grab me. We ran away and it was ok but didn't feel safe for the rest of the holiday and this happened on the first day! The reception staff seemed shocked and said they hadn't heard of anything like this happening but there is a way to go that is more of a main road and I would advise taking that way.

We found the resort rather quiet in general so I would recommend going in a group or maybe going to a more popular resort.

This place cannot be faulted!! It's a really nice place with really spacious apartments. I stayed with my boyfriend in a one bedroom apartment and all the rooms were quite large and as mentioned in another review included lots of facilities - some of which i've never seen in a holiday apartment like a coffee perculator!! we were on the first floor ( it seemed all the irish people were there) It didn't seem to be at maximum capacity, infact it was quite empty but that suited us perfectly as we often had the pool to ourselves!! Pool was a decent size although i'd imagine it wouldn't be great if crowded!! oh and it's saltwater which i didn't like but even the waterpark had salt water so i guess it must be normal there!! The apartments are literally a 2 minute walk from the kasbah centre which is the crazyest one probably!! It's a bit of a walk, maybe ten mins?? to the yumbo which is the gay centre, but a taxi was only like 2 euro! it's kind of down a road which means it's quiet outside yet right beside everything in the resort!! there's a back gate which leads down to the beach - which by the way is lovely and well worth a visit, the waves were deadly!! It's less than a 5 minute walk from the apartments, all the receptionists were friendly and the cleaners and all! Didn't see one insect the whole time i was there- not even a fly which was great!! The apartments have tvs with sky news, a sports channel and then some spanish ones!! can't think of a fault that i had with the hotel off hand....oh and there's a really cute black cat that they must own who's always in the reception at night- so friendly!!!! And there's internet access in the reception- cheap enough!! Def go to amazonas, well worth it!!!

I wanted a cheap cheerful holiday and thats what i got. After having booked my holiday i then decided to look the appt up on trip advisor here. There was only one review which made the appts sound wonderful.

I would agree with most of wot the previous review said except for a few things:

I never recieved these morning bread rolls although some of my neighbours did?

Appartment where of good size and clean although i did spot a few baby cockroaches in the bathroom.

There is NO air conditioning!! You have to rent it at a cost of 70 Euros for 1 week! (A BIT STEEP)

If like me you werent prepared to pay that amount of money then you could ask for a fan at reception FOR A PRICE of 15 Euros.

there wasnt much room round the pool but becasue it was sept there was hardly anyone about the appt so there was always a sun lounger free.

Apart from these few miner details it was a great place to stay.

Oh and the food in the Bistro was FANTASTIC!! especially the FRY!! thanks very much Donna! this lady knows how to cook and will sit and craic away with you! any future travellers have to play jinga with her you will leave the bistro with an all new palate (for ALCOHOL that is!!)

I wasnt too impressed with playa del ingles as a whole i felt unsafe and it was quite dirty and danky looking BUT Amazonas was a great place for a CHEAP AND CHEERFUL holiday.

  • Liked — bistro food was gr8
  • Disliked — baby cockcroaches in bathroon

Having being unable to book our usual accommodation we plumped for The Amazonas with some trepidation.
It was one of the few places left as we were going over the Christmas period and we could find no reviews for it on any web sites.
We need not have worried.
The Amazonas is situated in a quiet location near the steps to the beach well to the rear of the Metro and Kasbah centres, we had no disturbance from noise at night but were in easy walking distance of the action of Playa Del Ingles.
The apartments are well above average for this price range with nice little extras such as toaster, hair dryer, coffee perculator, free satelite TV and fresh bread rolls delivered each morning to the apartment door at no extra charge.
The bed linen and standard of fittings (Beech Wood) are also superior to other apartments in which we have stayed and the fully tiled bathroom has endless hot water and powerful shower.
The standard of cleanliness both of apartment and communal areas also cannot be faulted, we did not see any nasty insects all the time we were there.
Security is not a worry with electronic doors and gates operated by your apartment smartcard.
There is also a safe in each apartment hireable for a small charge.
Another lovely feature is that there is a Bar/Bistro at the pool side which is owned by a family seperate to the apartments.
They are very friendly and offering freshly prepared reasonably priced drinks, meals and snacks, cheers Nino if you read this. Infact the helpfulness, efficiency and friendliness of all the staff on the complex cannot be faulted.
On the day of departure we were not due to be picked up until 2.45pm and could keep the apartment at no extra charge until 2pm which prevented any hanging around whiling away the time, another nice little touch.
We would however mention that this accommodation is best suited to quiet couples and has very limited facilities for children or young people.
Perhaps it is also fair to mention that space around the pool is slightly limited, however most people seem to opt for the nearby beach.
All in all highly recommended--and our "usual" accommodation? Next time it'll be The Amazonas!
