I stayed here 10th-17th July. The hotel is about a minutes walk from the Anexo II complex on Playa del ingles.I had a room at the road level, and I would agree with some of the reviews about the noise, the road is the main one to to beach, used by taxis and buses.Perhaps a room the other side of the hotel would have been quieter. The room itself was large,a double bed, sofa, chairs and a table. There was a small balcony, and a good size bathroom. My room got the sun in the morning, and did not have Air con, although there was a fan in the room to help keep cool. The room was cleaned every day,and the swan shapes were fun!
I opted for B+B and was really pleased with the food offered for breakfast, superb selection, but watch out for the coffee, its VERY strong!!Really woke me up.I thought the Bucks fizz was a nice option too.
Yes the hotel had a lot of Germans, they do cater mainly for our European cousins, but the staff at reception spoke very good English,as well as Spanish,Dutch and German, very Impressive!!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Sahara, and would stay again.
Oh,please remember that its The Sahara Playa, not Sahara Beach! The beach hotel is about 5Km from Playa.

Room Tip: Possibly the rooms pool side are quieter.

Very impressed with the room - had 5 beds and I was there on my own! Quite clean, slight drain smell a couple times but not bad.
One woman on reception spoke English, but the rest of the staff could only say a few words in English, except for Tania at the public bar - lovely girl - very friendly. This would have been fine if I hadnt gone on holiday alone- so bit lonely.
All the other guests were German so could make friends becuase of the language barrier there too!
Location amazing - 30 seconds to beach, 5 mins walk uphill to Yumbo.
Restraunt was fine - nothing exciting but perfectly acceptable for what I paid. Watch out for the pigeons though.

Excellent location near beach.
However we did not benefit from the 3star status given to this hotel. We went for an all inclusive Xmas holiday. When we arrived the receptionist was on the telephone and did not acknowledge us with our cases standing at the desk. We hovered, looking at the board with details of that nights Gala Dinner (Xmas Eve) and when she was free went again to book in. Part way through the process her phone rang again and she answered it with no apology to us. We again waited patiently until she was free to complete our booking in. I had booked a superior room as a special treat but when we got to the room it was as basic as any 2 star accomodation. Maybe the fact that we did not have to pay extra for a safe or T.V. made it "superior". I would have expected at least a sea view, given the location of the hotel. That evenings Gala dinner was fine but you were not able to go to the bar when you wanted a drink, you had to wait for service and as there were minimal staff, working really hard, it was often difficult to get a drink when you wanted one. Unbelievably, Xmas Eve, the hotel bar shut at 9.30 p.m.!!!! We like a drink especially on holiday and are not "heavy" drinkers but every night we had to wait for someone to take our drinks order. It was really uncomfortable! There was a poolside bar during the day which was also open to the public. We were served with plastic cups while other tourists were served with proper glasses. I was more disappointed with the fact that we had paid all inclusive up front while other tourists were able to buy meals and drinks on a self catering style basis. Certainly we felt second class on all inclusive. Basically, if you do go here, go self catering!

We stayed at the Sahara Playa from the 28th August - 4th September 2010 and it was fantastic. it was our frist holiday abroad together. we stayed all inclusive the food was lovley although we did eat out twice, this was not because of bad food at the hotel but we fancied a change. the restaurants around the resort are fabulous, really good quality. in the resort there is alot to do and even a night clubbing part about 5 minutes walk away. which was excellent it was near enough for a late night out but also didnt distrupt us at the hotel. Sahara Playa was clean and spacious and all staff were fun and friendly, when we arrived on the 28th, our flight was delayed and so didnt get to the hotel untill late, we arrived at the hotel where we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who had made up two meals in the restuarant it was lovley. true that there was not many brits but this was not an issue, as many of the Germans spoke good english and were friendly. we spent many nights playing pool with the spanish and germans and ended up learning a little bit of their language. The beaches were fabulous, clear blue seas, gorgeous white sand and lots of trips are available, we decided to go on a all inclusive boat trip which cost us 30Eurps each, we saw a hammer head shark, a tiger shark, fly fish and had the possibilty of seeing dolphins but they decided not to play that day. Would recomend this hotel to any young couple as it was livley during the day and has plenty to do surrounding it, even a hard rock cafe! overally we both had a amazing time and we are planning on going back there in February.

I travelled with my husband and kids aged 5 and 10, the hotel its self is in a prime location although can be noisy at nightime as its neat to the main road, the beach is only 2 minutes walk. The hotel was clean and towels changed and beds everyday. The staff were pleasant. there are 3 pools although very small and not good for children who cant swim as the shallowest is 1meter deep. The pool at the bar is 1m 6 and if you are sitting here and using all inclusive bar, the other bar staff dont seem to keen on u sitting there but paying customers always get a smile. We were the only brittish couple there. Mainly Germans. The food was good and had no complaints and kids eat more than they do back home, the only withing i would say with the all incusibe is that u are supposed to get snacks and if you ask about these u get told its a cheese and ham toastie and that is it.
The place of playa de ingles is ok but i would not rush back, there are lots of germans and gays and there is also a nudist beach.

Ok let me start at the beginning - We found a great deal with 24hrhotels.com and booked half board at the hotel because we had two small children. Having read previous reviews we decided to book a one bed apartment.

As we normally do we booked a car and found autoreisen to offer the best deal. What I like about autoreisen is they dont charge for car seats for the kids and the car comes complete with super cdw and no excess.

When we arrived at Sahara Playa we found out that there is NO Parking at the hotel and parking across the road is about 8-10 euros a day. There is free parking by the beach but you need to wait 20 mins for somebody to move as the free parking spaces are limited.

Having parked the car, the receptionist was pleasant and we got the key to our apartment. We were pleasantly surprised with the size of the accomodation and the self catering facilities. The main bedroom was ;large and the living room was a generous size. During our stay our apartment was cleaned everyday with fresh towels. The only downside was the fact that the remote for the Aircon cost a 50euro deposit. I think this is more to deter people from using the Aircon rather than securing against losing the remote.

Having settled into the room we took a stroll to the beach (50m from the hotel) and to be honest this hotel is the best positioned hotel in Playa del Ingles for the beach. Its practically frontline beach . It is right by Annex 2 beach where the beach is fab, lots of restaurants, little bars and shops. If the beach is your thing then this is the place for you.

Half Board:
Dont go half board or for that matter bed and breakfast. Food is not good and the choice is very poor. I am not very fussy but you will be dissapointed.

Breakfast
There was green beans and roasted peppers on the breakfast menu, the scrambled eggs were out of a packet, the fried eggs were definetly cooked well in advance possibly the night before and some of the staff are not very pleasant. The first day there was no bacon or sausages and during the whole stay there wasnt one croissant.

Dinner
The salad section was good but that was it. The rest of the buffet was really lacking in any sort of quality. As we proceeded through the week you see that the food is recycled into other dishes etc. Not my kind of thing

My advice is go self catering and eat in the restaurants by the beach. They are really good value and the food is a lot better than the standard at the hotel. We ate at Romas just across from the hotel and to be honest it felt like the best meal I ever ate after being subjected to the food at the Sahara.

The pool is small and is not heated so it was out of bounds for our stay as it was freezing, but with the beach so close who needs a pool.

I would definetly recommend this hotel for its location and accomodation and if you stay here you wont need a car. There is a taxi rank right in front of hotel and from what I heard they are really reasonable. Just dont eat at the hotel.

Tip for Families: for a night out with the kids go to Holiday World - lots of rides, bars restaurants and a soft play area for the young ones.

I rate this hotel 3 star in line with its grading.
