“Very Good Hotel-In fact excellent for price & service.”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

Very good all inclusive hotel. Do have to remember this is an urban resort hotel bounded on 3 sides by roads so some noise evident 24/7. Also no air-con (which is clearly known and declared so its your choice). My wife & I had no probs with this though was quite humid we acclimatised.
Food & drink excellent. If you go hungry here then its your fault. Fantastically varied menu. This is NOT a boozy hotel though all inclusive drinks readily available. If you want to get sozzled and go wild this is not the place.
Good for older couples though some younger enjoyed. Young kids liked but teenagers would probably get bored.
Hotel is fair way from Maspalomas beach and steps need negotiating. Is a 'strand' walkway to lift. Also a nice walk.
Hotel officially 3 star could get more if refurbed.
Staff very friendly & attentive.
I enjoyed my birthday here. Hotel staff noticed cards and / off my passport perhaps. 2 bottles of champagne. Thank you.

Room Tip: Probably higher rooms quieter. Don't forget there are louvre blind type ventilators side of win...

Dear guest,
First of all, I would like to thank you for choosing us to enjoy your holiday and for the time taken on writting this view.
In my opinion, you have described the hotel very well, not only services but mayority publicum as well. If you finally choose the Hotel Ifa Continental to come in summer (Easter-September) you will find lot of guests between 19 and 30 years old doing some party on corridors and pool. At the other side, in winter (November - Mars) the hotel is booked by guests between 40 and 70, so that, you will feel relaxed and calm. It is important to know this fact before doing the reservation, as it will help you all to choose the correct hotel to stay... you will be happy and we will be happy too.
Regarding the air conditioning, as you said, there is no air conditioning system in this hotel but it exists the choice to rent a portable one to put into the room. This service can be arranged before the arrival, by sending an email to continental@ifahotels.com.
Thank you very much again for your opinions!
We hope to be able to wellcome you again with us in a short future.
Yours sincerely

This is our sixth visit to this hotel so you can guess this review will be positive. Ok, lets get the "negatives" out of the way. It is officially a 3 * hotel so no air-conditioning, the refurbishment, which is taking place, has not yet been completed so some rooms don't have flat screen tv and the main stair carpet has seen better days. Having said this, the positives far outweigh the negatives. The hotel has a spacious reception and bar area complete with ornamental pond and bridge, check-in is very swift and reception staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean, bedrooms are of a decent size with en-suite consisting of toilet, bath with shower attachment and wash basin. In the self-service restaurant, there is a huge variety of good food, both hot and cold. The restaurant serving staff are very efficient at clearing and relaying tables. There is entertainment each daytime and evening, a choice of swimming pools and jacuzzis with lots of sunbeds. We choose the all inclusive option and you literally help yourself to teas, coffees, soft drinks, beers, wines, sandwiches, cakes etc. no waiting to catch the waiter's eye. The location of the hotel is very good - within about 2/300 metres you can be on the promenade, bus station, taxi rank and small shopping centre. One word of warning, to reach the beach there are a number of steps to negotiate, ok going down but heavy breathing coming back up! The hotel displays a 4* Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for 2012 and this is very well deserved. Having only returned home a few days ago, we are already planning our next visit.

my wifes sister booked this holiday for themselves for their 30 yrs anniversary celebration, they tried dropping a lot of hints for my wife & myself to join them, but as seasonal caravaners & having just bought a new caravan we convinced them we couldn't afford too,my wife & myself discussed this & decided to book it .We went to our local Thomson shop after looking on the net for availability which there was,as we know most of the staff there we told them of our plan to suprise the sister.we booked the holiday & swore them to secrecy,we also booked our carparking. We went to see siss on the Thurs evening & wished them a lovely holiday & gave them a Tenner for a celebratory drink,in conversation we found out they had booked the same private c/pk whoops we thought & sweated Sat the 3rd came & we hoped for the best, actually parked next to their car & was told they had been taken to the airport 25 mins before "phew" .At the Cardiff the airport It took us so long too book in & get through the only scanner that was being used for 3 flights taking off within 15mins of each other which is another story. Some 2 hours later we got through departures & went directly to the plane asked if we could board @ the rear my wife had the video camera ready,we saw them & came up behind them & said suprise suprise their faces were of total shock & disbelief.they walked up the plane on flight Absolutly gobbsmacked.Tat was a the start of a very good weeks holiday,on arrival we were greeted by reception staff & told to put our baggage in the lockup & go staight to the dining room as there was only 45mins before they closed & to book in after dinner excellent start to a 1st class week, the staff are most polite & obliging the hotel is spotlessly clean as were the rooms, the food we found was nicely cooked & presented,& varied.as preveous reviews there are a lot of German people there but got on with all "bar the rude & ignorant ones"but some brits can be the same.Over all, the hotel was 1st class & we think worthy of another star would definatly recomend & go again. There was only 1 thing that we thought unusual these days was, there was no hand sanitiser on entering the dining room?.We all felt that this hotel should have aircon in the rooms ,maybe this is their 4th star? But still 10/10

Room Tip: we were room 645 & that side of the hotel had a lot of trafic noise but you could see the sea.

Dear guest,
charming story I must say!
Thanks for sharing with us your trip since its beginnings!
Just two remarks on your view:
1. This week, we have installed a hand sanitier at the restaurant entrance. You can find it on the left wall, before entering the toilettes.
2. Air conditioning is not obligated on a 3 stars hotel in Spain, altough it is desirable and even necesary in summer. We agree with that. At the moment, this facility is only available by renting a portable air conditioning at reception. You can contact us on continental@ifahotels.com if you decided to come to visit us again.
Thank you very much for your time and for staying at Ifa Continental and have a great time with your family and your new caravan.
Yours sincerely

Having just returned and fresh in my mind i would say this hotel offers a relaxing quality stay with a few problems. The location of your room needs to be south facing the sea and not at the side of the hotel. We had a room at the side which was noisy ! overlooked by adjacent hotel and generally poor views when relaxing on the balcony. The rooms were clean and tidy but struggled with no air con !. The food was good with a typical selection , we personally found the lunch time food better than the evening. They catered however for the german taste as alot of pork was on offer and relevant german tastes. Which brings me on to my biggest problem GERMANS!! they in no uncertian terms were everywhere, they were rude , noisy, disrepectful and in your face. I would estimate this hotel was 90% german. So if you want to be sociable in this hotel as british person you would struggle.Enough said ...... on the plus side this hotel offers a good location near beach and promenade just outside the busier area of playa del ingles which at night unless your under 40 offers little than mad pubs and clubs with persistant touts trying to get you in!. The food and drink is good , the pool area one of the best in the area and the general cleaniness very good and comfortable. I would not visit this hotel again only because of the german mass and room location choice.

Room Tip: South facing rooms sea views and alot quieter.

Stayed for a week in October as a grown up family.

At check-in the Hotel take a scan of your passport. My birthday happened to be during our stay and without any of my family asking the hotel organised for a bottle of fizz for my room with a letter from the hotel wishing me a Happy Birthday. This was completely unexpected and so generous!

Hotel location is great. Only a few mins walk from the beach, a 10 min walk to Kasbah and 15 min walk to the Yumbo centre. Taxis are also incredibly cheap in playa del ingles.

Although the hotel was busy, we never felt it was too busy - always finding space by the pool or a nice table for dinner.

The food was fantastic. Such a great mix. We stayed for a week and really didn't find it repetative at all. There's a fantastic sald bar, a huge selection of cooked and cold meats. There's something for everyone. Dinner staff were exceptional.

The maids did such a good job. Our rooms were always immacuately cleaned every day and the hotel itself was absolutely spotless.

I'm really embarassed that UK travellers have commented there were too many Germans at the hotel. If they'd looked around properly they'd have seen that there was a huge mix of different countries in the hotel - it is an international hotel. We loved this, the staff are all talented at speaking a variety of languages and it was alot of fun playing bingo in french, english, spanish and german!

Only now realised reading other peoples reviews that there was no air-conditioning. Really suprised to read that as the hotel was always nice and cool!

Can't give enough praise to IFA continental. We'll definitely return.

Thank you.

Just got back from Ifa Continental and had an enjoyable stay. Regarding the lack of air-con or fans. We were aware of this from the brochure and so, went armed with a small fan - sorted! I did think that there should have been drinking water available more readily. I need water every night to take medication and it doesn't seem right that I had to buy it from a machine on my room floor when I've paid for all inclusive. You are not meant to take drinks to your room and obviously can't drink the tap water??
The Germans didn't bother us. If they stared, we stared back. If they pushed in, we did the same. They seemed to have early dinner sitting and so, hogged the pole positions in the entertainment room. It didn't bother us because we chose to go out each evening. We are all born under the same sky but we're all different.
The hotel is spotless and it's nice to have some culture and standards of dress code and etiquette. We would definitely go back to this hotel and the staff are spot on

Dear guest,
Thank you very much for your time on doing this report!
We appreciate your comments on your views because you give us the opportunity to know how we did and how we can do better.
All Inclusive service works from 11.00am to 11.00pm, as you know. It is true that this is not a 24h all inclusive hotel and we also do not provide mineral water in bottles. Although, you can have a glass of water from the bar before going to bed, I am going to pass your suggestion to the hotel management with pleasure.
At the other side, I congratulate you on your open-mind. In my opinion, it is very important in current times to understand or at least to accept that we are all different in the eyes of others.
Yours sincerely
