First impressions were great, small and nice little restaurant, which was full. The waiter took our order and brought our drinks, and the good part ended there. After 30 minutes we started to hear mumblings from tables around us and noticed that only one table had actually been brought food. During this time a family and a group of four had turned up and took tables outside due to lack of room inside, but no one ever went to greet them let alone take there orders and after waiting a good 15-20 minutes they both left. After about 50 minutes, the waiter returned to tell us that the dish we had ordered was not available but they would cook us something else. This was surprising given that when the family next to us enquired as to where their food was they were told to be patient as everything was cooked fresh and from scratch! They were also told that if they wanted fast food they should have gone to McDonalds!!! We continued waiting, during this time a couple and another table of 4 from inside left without getting their meals. Another group ordering tapas received a couple of random dishes, and then had to start waiting again for the rest of their food. We are still waiting. The family told to go to MacDonalds enquire again about their food, given they had now been there over 90 minutes, at which point they were told that one of the dishes they had ordered (the same dish as us) was not available - why did it take so long, and given they ordered before we even arrived, why were they only being told now, given we had been told after 50 minutes. This also made us question whether they had even started cooking the food. We were told we should also be patient, the meal would be another 5 minutes...
Back to the table with the tapas, they were given another dish and told it was their last, but they queried this explaining they were still waiting for other things they had ordered. The waiter insisted they were lying and after some "discussion" told them to go away, they returned to their table to wait, but nothing else was coming. After being there for almost two hours, with no sign of food, nor an apology or explanation, in what was now an uncomfortable environment and a hostile and rude waiter, we, along with the family, gave up, paid for our drinks and left. Just at the point the waiter decided to loudly tell the people still waiting for the rest of the dishes they supposedly "never ordered" were told that they were stupid, uneducated idiots! An argument ensued and I was glad to get out, but now feeling on edge, past being hungry, and it being late to find somewhere else to eat our evening was ruined.
I have never walked out of a restaurant, I have never heard a waiter be so rude, and I would never return to Las Tapas.

We tried this restaurant as it was recommended by TripAdvisor (the had the sticker on their door) and it had free WiFi. We were excited to try the Tapas, but found them very greasy as they were all cooked with oodles and oodles of fat.
While the portions were larger than average, the prices were more than double-triple than traditional Tapas places, such as Ole Cafe near the Playa del Ingles or places we ate at in the mountains on Gran Canaria away from the tourists.
All in all, the first tastes were positive but by the end of the meal you felt unwell due to too much fat and salt in the Tapas and the bill was expensive as well.
Having said that, the selection and quality of restaurants in Playa del Ingles is very, very poor. It really seems that those restaurants that cater to tourists do not care at all about the quality of the food they serve. Most have the same menu, same crappy food, and inflated prices. Las Tapas is an above average restaurant in Playa del Ingles but that is not saying much.
