Stayed here for a week with friends during Gran Canaria Pride and have to say that you cannot beat it. The room is nice, if not a little standard, but plenty of room, big terrace with reclining seats, large bathroom, plenty of towels etc. Only gripe in this department is the lack of bathroom products, just a wall mounted "all-in one", which wasn't particularly nice either. Take your own.

The thing that sets this place apart is the service, particularly in the restaurant. Quite incredible. On our first night we chose our wine and preferred to use the larger wine glasses, the next day everything we had ordered the night before, even down to the glasses was there waiting for us. If you had soup and forgot to pick up a spoon, all of a sudden a waiter would be there with one. Had to be seen to be believed.

The pool area is lovely and again the pool drinks and food service was great. Plenty of sun beds and cushions although the older folk are down there very early with their towels!! We still managed to get one.

My only complaint (very minor) was that they made a rubbish Cosmopolitan!

We would definitely stay there again, in fact we are already looking to book again for next year.

Room Tip: I personally would want a room on the west wing of the hotel and probably on the ground floor as the...

just returned after nine days we were three couples who holiday every year together ,we all agreed this was the friendliest hotel we have stayed at. The staff were amazing and could not do enough for you A special mention to Frytos our bar waiter who shared our sense of humour and really made our holiday we enjoyed the music and dancing but the songs were the same most nights but that is the only negative thing I can say. Food and drinks were excellent as was the pool and surrounding areas. Great hotel will come back.

Room Tip: had room 2098 side sea view great

We have just come back from 2 weeks holiday at the Riu Palace. The hotel & staff were excellent and we enjoyed our breakfast and evening meal - good selection/choices were available. Additionally, this is the first hotel in the Canaries where there was an excellent choice for a lunchtime snack by the pool.
However, the entertainment in the evening was not good. The resident band was appalling, they obviously had trouble playing their instruments, the singer was just about ok but the selection of songs was dire and it was also repeated nearly every night ! There were other acts and the majority of these were good so please either get the resident band to improve or get rid!
Just a word of caution that this hotel is situated very close to the dunes which is a lovely feature but beware that when the wind gets up you and the hotel will suffer from a good dusting of the sand. This did not stop us from having a good holiday and the staff were very good in keeping the hotel clean and tidy

They serve Cava on arrival rather than Champagne - just so you know what you're getting as there is quite a difference. Great hotel though and I wouldn't hesitate to return. Views, food and service far superior to most holiday hotels.

Just for the record,I have stayed at Riu Palace many times.

The glass of Champagne is offered to all guests upon arrival regardless of booking direct or package. If you book with Thomson you also get a bottle in your room as well as fruit.

We had the pleasure of staying at this hotel between the 13th and 17th of April 2013 (we would have stayed longer if it wasn't full after these dates) From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the friendly doorman who relieved us of our cases and welcomed very nicely by the receptionist. Because we booked directly with the hotel one of the perks was a glass of champagne on arrival which settled us in nicely lol. We were given a side view room on the third floor which had a fantastic view of playa de ingles, the mountains and the sand dunes. It certainly had the wow factor! The only drawback we found with the rooms here is you have to pay for the safe, an incredible €16! As it is already in the room we thought the the charge was an unnecessary annoyance. There is no wifi in the rooms and can only be accessed in the seating area by the bar. This is free and the speed was quite quick. There is also a little room of 3 computers charging €1 for 15 mins. Everywhere in the hotel was clean to a very high standard. Breakfast had a fantastic choice and thoroughly enjoyed treating ourselves to a glass of champagne on offer there. We had the buffet dinner there one evening and again we were spoilt for choice.

One of the best things we found was how amazingly friendly the staff are! Not one would walk past you without saying hello! We really noticed the difference when we had to check into a similar hotel for the remainder of our holiday there!! Its funny how the smallest things can make a difference. There isn't many English staying at this hotel, this resort is mainly for German and Dutch tourists, we heard that the English usually stay more towards Playa de Mogan area.

The hotel backs onto the sand dunes which is a hefty walk to the sea, a good 1/2 mile walk but seemed longer but enjoyed the experience. The hotels is in a lovely and quiet location but within distance of a nice stroll along to the restaurants and bars of Ingles. We slept with our balcony door open every night with no noise disturbance at all!

There was entertainment in the bar every night. Overall we didn't want to leave this hotel and would definitely stay here if possible when visiting again.

One place highly recommended to go is Playa de Mogan on Fridays, there is a big market on and it is a very pretty Marina with lots of restaurants and souvenir shops. There is also a beach. The buses are packed with people having to stand as well so leave earlier than we did at 10am!!

Lastly, there is a excursion shop in the Yambo shopping centre which does trips for the English ( most cater for the Dutch and German tourists) They do a panoramic tour of the island which goes through the mountains. The climate is different in the north of the island than the south so remember a jumper (it was 24 degrees when we left ingles and only 16 up there!!)

Am just about to leave this gorgeous hotel, having been here for the past week. We are quite fussy travellers but it is very hard to find fault with anything here. Everything is done to a very high standard, certainly far higher than most holiday hotels, and the staff are amongst the most friendly and helpful I have ever come across. The location, overlooking the beautiful Maspalomas sand dunes is a treat; near enough to Playa Des Ingles if you want activity, and far enough away for perfect peace and quiet if you don't. Meloneras is a lovely, rather fancy shopping & restaurant area and easily reached by taxi. We thought about staying at the Riu Palace in Meloneras (which is also lovely) bit I'm glad we chose Masplomas. Being so close to the dunes, and walking on them, is an experience not to be missed. Once they get wifi in the rooms. The Riu Palace in Maspalomas will be totally perfect!
