“Riu delivers again.....”

A very good hotel. Worth more than the official three stars it currently has. Well run, spotlessly clean, friendly and helpful service, good food and spacious rooms with plenty of storage space.

In easy walking distance to bars, restaurants and shopping centres but to be honest we were happy after dinner to stay in the hotel, drink at very reasonable prices and enjoy the hotel's own entertainment, which wasn't brilliant but you can't have everything at three star prices.

If you have a hire car, be prepared to be patient in finding a parking space. There is no car park in the hotel but there are free spaces in the street at the back which tend to be harder to find in the middle of the day than in the evening. Not really a problem - I always found a space at the back - you just need to be aware it takes patience.

Third stay now for Elaine and me in a Riu hotel and I'm pleased to say this place keeps up the high standards we've come to expect of Riu hotels wherever they are. We'd come back here.

We booked this independently though an on line booking service and got a good deal on half board. Friendly welcome on arrival but none of our special requests had been looked at. As one of us was celebrating a 50th birthday we asked for a nice room, high floor sea / pool view. The room allocated was MILES away from everything at the back of the hotel with a lovely view.....of the street. The reception said they never received any special request from the agent or even the e-mail that I took time and trouble to send. Even a phone call from the UK to ask was ignored ...not a great start !!!

The hotel is spotlessly clean, and the food was OK. Good choices and reasonable quality.

The best part is the staff...they are really friendly , helpful and make the effort. Well done.

Having said that the reception staff (with one expection the very nice Alex) were cold and generally had a rather superior attitude. Would it be so difficult to crack a smile and be a bit more friendly ???? Really ??? Come on....

The man wearing the black uniform (assume he is the manager) was unbelieveably rude when we needed a taxi for 5 to go to the waterpark for a day out. "It's not possible, taxi is for 4 only"
So the lovely Terry from Thomson intervened and called the SAME taxi company and .....lo and behold...within 5 minutes a people carrier arrived for 6 persons. Well done Terry....nil point Don Miguel reception manager....rude and unhelpful !!

All in all a nice hotel with a great location but sort out your reception for goodness sake...you're letting the place down !!!

Room Tip: Make sure you are overlooking the pool on a high floor 3 , 4 or 5. Its a big hotel and lots of rooms...

Stayed for 4 nights and had a great time. Really well decorated and great to have no kids at the hotel. Staff really friendly and managers present. The room was fine, on second floor opposite lift and facing road so not the best location, that said it was clean and comfortable. The food was excellent, so much to chose from and in plentiful supply. No tea/coffee facilities in room and you need to take your own beach towel. We would definitely return.

Recently renovated hotel making it almost a fourth star hotel. If you look for a convenient hotel close to the infamous Yumbo center, look no further. Further more it is adults only, so no hassle with children.
The Very nice swimming pool area and the friendly staff make it for me the biggest plus points .
Food is ok, nothing wow but large range of choices both for breakfast and dinner.

hi again, this hotel is gr8 for a relaxing break.the staff are very helpful, polite and friendly.the pool area has had a refurb in the last six months, which makes it all of a 4 star, the lounge and outside stage for evening entertainment is very swish, contempary, with lovely lavenders and greys..the food is excellent, again well organized.the building itself is 40 years old so although, outstandly clean, its a bit 3 star..the room was cozy and well decorated.. congrats to all that run this lovely hotel and all of gran canaria, because everyone we met or dealt with was so polite...would go back......mr alex.............................................

Room Tip: as there is a lot of outside entertainment you need a room furthest away, south side if

LOCATION: We picked this hotel for the location, in the center, close to bars/shopping etc. It is very close to all hangouts for Icelanders, Swedes, Norwegians, but we weren't looking for them, in particular! Nice walk to the beach, only 5 min. walk to the main bus stop (by the Yumbo Center).

FOOD: We took half board (breakfast & dinner) and the food was excellent. Something new every day, something light, something heavy, soaked in oil or low in cholesterol. We had our designated table, but were "demoted" to a faraway corner because we wanted a different time spot (you get either 18:00 or 20:00 in the lottery). The house wine was about 7-8 euros, which was fair.

ROOM FACILITIES: We got a nice, big room on the ground floor, which is actually below the ground, so we could only watch feet and legs from the balcony. We complained, and they gave us a room on the 3rd floor, with a great pool view. But the room was very small, with no seating area. Well, the balcony was nice and if we could choose between large room/bad balcony or small room/great balcony, we went for the latter. Hair dryer, fridge, security box big enough for a laptop, Kindle, and much more: all perfect. We had a bed of 140 cm and for two large people, it was not too comfortable, but still we slept well, as the room was quiet and the mattress was good.

POOL AREA: Loved it! Plenty of sunbeds, no need to wake up at 6:00 to spread towels or "reserve". You can even have a "love boat" (a large mattress in the shade). The design is charming, with bamboos, lots of lilac, etc. The pool was too cold at this time of year and the jacuzzi, too, although it was on all day and nobody went in.

SERVICE: Smiling people all around, always greeting us, no matter how busy they were. I don't think that I have ever experienced such good overall service. Maid came in every day to make our beds. The only downside was the Internet. Free Internet in the lobby, but no desk to sit at (only loungers) and a very, very slow connection. With 4 Internet-consuming-items (laptop, tablet, Kindle, Android) we did not want to buy the Internet for only 1 of them for 20 euros per week.

OTHER: If you are looking for a gay-friendly place (especially for men), you will love this hotel.

We will definitely come back to this hotel for another winter holiday. Hopefully, next year!

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view, which means rooms from 2-30 (approximately), on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th floor. Odd...
