This was our second visit to Aparthotel Folias and our third visit to San Augustin in five years. Sadly both the Folias and the resort in general seem to have been used and worn out with very little in the way of refurbishment or investment, so while it is still a nice place and the location of the Folias, overlooking the park in the gorge and just five minutes or so from two beaches and the Centro Commercial of San Augstin is good, there is very little else to recommend it.
The Aparthotel Folias itself is worn and not that clean, there was lots of bird mess on the walls, lampposts, loungers and ground, which only gets a cursory clean every week or so, although the ground gets hosed done early most mornings. During our stay there seemed to be a problem with someone breaking bottles more or less every day near the pool area, it did not get cleaned and cleared until the morning and not that thoroughly.
The rooms seem to be exactly as on our previous visit, so they are now well worn with marked walls lose laminate flooring and edges, the only significant change was the large flat screen TV in the room which you could rent from reception have been replaced in a step backwards with coin operated old style CRT televisions. There is air conditioning if you chose to pay for it, and also you can rent the Elsafe which is a decent size, ours did not work and when we reported this to reception the Elsafe Company was telephoned by them and we had a visit from an engineer to replace the fuse, after about 30 minutes as promised.
The pool has lots of tiles and one set of steps missing, the loungers are old and well worn and as mentioned not very clean, the poolside bar (Restaurant Folias Garden) is like everything else worn and faded with many tables and chairs missing as they have been used to replace the ones for the apartment balconies and terraces, once again the area is not very clean and is not inviting.
There are two pool tables that are much worn as are the sets of balls, when we tried them one did not work, the bar staff have no keys to them, so if you go to reception and sign a voucher they will refund the Euro you have lost in the tables coin mechanism.
As to the building and grounds, there are some very significant cracks in the walls and floor, and one must assume that these have been professionally inspected and passed as safe.
Would we still go back to or recommend the Aparthotel Folias? Yes for its location and if you can get it on a deal, but it would be nice to see it brought up to standard

I was a week on this hotel. With beautiful sea view, as you can prove by images, large room and bathroom, with kitchenette, room service every day.
Next to mini-markets, and bus stop from airport. Quit place, but not very good if you want nightlife, as you have to walk about 2.5 km to Playa del Ingles or take the bus. The shower curtain should be longer as the floor was wet.
The restaurant and terrace was quit chic. We had a promotion, and for the price we paid, was perfect!

excellent price/quality, ok the possibility to prepare maels in room and store bottles or other stuff in the fridge, but in general if someone wants other services (internet, tv in the room..) must pay.
Staff is ok, breakfast ok,
In the toilet, curtain in shower is too short so that after daily shower a part of the bathroom is like a lake

Breakfast was very limited only continetal was available the only warm thing available was toast.

pool was small but clean

The rooms were small and beds were very hard.theres a shopping centre near by we a few restruaunts in it and a bar or two.....the spar is cheap it your self catering!!
I would reccomend Tonys resturant for a steak.

It's been a few years since me and my partner stayed at this hotel but seen as we had a fantastic time I thought I'd share our experience.

We hotel was lovely, situated in san agustin it means we were away from the all night parties in Playa des ingles but close enough to jump in a taxi and 5 mins later you could enjoy a night out.

The rooms were nice and spacious and clean with a small kitchen which was fine for few times we used it. The view from our balcony was goregous, you could see the pool, the gardens across from the hotel and the beach which was about a 20 second walk away!!!

The pool was of average size, which was fine seen as we went before the school holidays so there was plenty of room but i suspect it could get busy peak season.

The entertainment at the hotel was good. During the day there were darts and pool competitions and quizzes which helped to pass the time whilst lazing around the pool.

Tony the entertainment guy, (if he's still there!), was from Wakefield so we can good chats with him seen as we were all from the same area. He was good fun and did most of the evening entertainment as well. He did elvis impersonations and sang with Charles Gold form the temptations. Other entertainment included karaoke and a hypnotist who was great!

The only concern i would raise about the hotel is that some of the guests are from 'Freestyle' which is a clubbers kind of holiday. This didn't cause problems with us as we ventured out on one of their bar crawls and had a excellent evening.

As far as food goes (from what i can remember) the sailor restaurant in the shopping Plaza did excellent meals, their specialitites being fresh fish and meat grills, my partner got a 20 ounce t-bone steak for 10 euros!!! The 'Mexican' restaurant was also good, this was along the beach front and didn't just offer mexican food. It was a nice walk only the beach after the meal as well.

That's about all i can remember so if you decide to choose this hotel you'll have a great time!

We stayed here a couple of years ago and had such a great time that when we had a bad experience with an allocation on arrival at Maspalomas we booked to stay here again.

The rooms are spacious, have a little kitchinette, lovely bathroom, two double beds and we had a wonderful balcony that looked out to the sea on our left.

The staff are so friendly we had a big bottle of free water waiting for us in the room and the rooms were cleaned everyday. All rooms face the back towards the sea, all have sea view.

The pool is of average size but big enough for everyone staying there the restaurant is lovely and bar staff cant do enough for you.

We ate at Loopys a few nights which is just 2 minutes walk away and the food in there is amazing for the value.

The sea is about 4 minutes walk away and it has volcanic sand. If you walk to the left down the beach front you come to a few nice restaurants, and if you walk to the right you pass various lovely sights and after about 25 minutes you reach Playa del Ingles. 5 minute taxi ride if you dont want to walk it.

We were only about 8 minutes from a shopping plaza in San Augustin which also had some lovely restaurants on the top floor.

No need to worry anywhere around here about speaking their language as a lot of them speak English, there is also a big Netto that sold some lovely fresh Spanish food such as fruit, ham, breakfast stuff for a reasonable price as were were in a self catering accomodation but we ate out at night and there are plenty of choices of restaurants to choose from.

I would definately go back to this resort again, it is so nice and is a great base to explore.
