“Clean Friendly Slightly Dated Hotel”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

We stayed here in Jan 2013 for over a week, we got the feeling that the hotel catered mainly for the German market although this did not make much difference to our holiday. The Foyer of the hotel is spectacular and the hotel is very clean and friendly and everyone who spoke a little English were friendly. The rooms are slightly dated as is the Bar area. We felt like after dinner the bar staff just wanted shut and have an early night so we used to go to the nearby shopping centre area later on, only a few minutes walk so no problem. This hotel is in a very nice position especially if you like a walk on the sea front and not be in a very busy area.
We had a BBQ quite often and on two occasions the sausages were not cooked but no one seemed to be bothered when we mentioned it. On the whole the food was lovely and the restaurant staff look after you very well. The pool area is lovely and spacious and the gardens lovely.

Probably the best hotel on San Agustin, at least for adults (not sure if children is allowed, it’s not child friendly). Very quiet, bar close at 23:00 and even before this hardly any noise. Great pool area, the week we stayed there was sunbeds available all the time. A little windy some days, but what else can you expect when you are more or less right on the beach. The hotel is very clean, nice public areas, and have great sea views from most rooms.

The beds are typical Spanish, hard. Have stayed at hotel where the beds are a lot worse, what is it with Spanish hotel beds... The rooms are a little outdated, could do with a small facelift – they seem to have many older guests so the style might work for them, we are 40 years and used to more modern hotels.

We only had breakfast and lunch a few times at the hotel, which was good. Price levels is OK, they don’t overcharge like many hotels do.

Would we stay here again? If we are going to San Agustin yes. But there are other areas of Gran Canarias which are more modern, San Agustin have its charm but seem to have gotten stuck in the 80’s, the whole area could do with an update. But the hotel is not a bad choice, clearly number one in San Agustin, especially if you are looking for a relaxed getaway.

We visited the hotel for a week for the New Year period. The south coast resorts of Gran Canaria were developed in the 60s and 70s so the architecture in this area isn't exactly pretty and the beach club is no exception to this. Once over the threshold you settle in and start to enjoy the location, excellent service, relaxing ambience and great food.
The location of the hotel is good, on the beach (although a bit windy to sit on the beach when we visited) and in San Agustin. As I said, the architecture isn't pretty but the resort has all you need - there is a shopping centre and supermarkets five minutes walk from the hotel, car hire and bus stops. The resort is quiet, a more mature clientele when we visited.
The guests in the hotel were mainly older so this made for a quiet, relaxing exvironement which was what we wanted. The pool area had more than enough loungers for everyone so all was easy going. We had booked half board including evening meal but had expected to go out to eat mostly. However, the food was really excellent and we ended up eating in the hotel every night. The New Year's Eve gala dinner was included for us and was exceptional.
The entertainment in the evening was suited to the age of the guests - some flamenco dancers, a three piece band and a sometimes in tune singing duo on a couple of nights bashing out the love songs of the 1970s. But bearable.
There is an exit from the pool area onto the paved coast path / promenade which goes all the way to Playa del Ingles (the next resort - rather less sedate than San Agustin) and then on to the amazing Maspalomas sand dunes. It was a nice walk, on the level except two sets of stairs with ramps and lighting if you came back after dusk. There is a bus stop in the resort centre for buses to Las Palmas, Plays del Ingles and beyond plus a taxi rank to take you where you need pretty cheaply.
We were looking for some sun, relaxation and no hassle - and this is what we got at the beach club. If you want clubs, bars and partying then this place isn't for you.
The staff were all very helpful and could not be faulted. They all spoke great Engligh and smiled politely at my Spanish attempts. The chefs deserve a pat on the back. The hotel manager was frequently around the hotel chatting to guests and checking all was ok which was a nice touch.

I agree with everything that Caroline S says about the Beach Club. We returned yesterday from an 11 night stay and we couldn't fault this hotel. It is a four star hotel with five star service, five star staff, five star accommodation, five star food but three star drink prices!! We couldn't believe how reasonable the drinks and the wine prices were, compared to many hotels of this quality. There was entertainment some nights which was very varied and very good The room was kept spotlessly clean by lovely staff. The weather was fairly hot so the air con was needed and this worked very well and was quiet. There were plenty of sunbeds and mattresses by the pool and the beach was a step away. Our only slight complaint would be that the bed, although lovely and big, was rather hard and the pillows were a bit lumpy. Having said that, we will definitely return to the Beach Club. I cannot comment on the Spa as we didn't use it.

Room Tip: A Sea View room is a must.

This was a truly wonderful holiday! If you want a quiet, relaxing holiday in a lovely hotel with wonderful food and service that is second to none then go to the Beach Club Hotel in San Augustin. I have never put up a review before but after this holiday I felt this hotel deserved one. We arrived late in the evening and the guy on reception was so welcoming & helpful. We were staying on a half board basis and my husband is so fussy, he was determined that we would not be eating for the ten nights in the hotel, but the quality and presentation of the food was fantastic and we ate there every night - two nights is a tasting menu, so you can everything on the menu; two nights is a bbq and the other nights you pick from each course. There is also live music at least 3 nights a week. It is waiter service in the restaurant and they are so efficient and friendly - nothing is a problem. We had a wonderful sea view and the beach is just outside the back door. It is a tonic to watch the sun rise over the ocean each morning while taking a walk on the beach and then back for a great breakfast. The restaurant is outdoor but you can also eat inside if you wish. There is no problem with sunbeds but if you the beach it is 2 mins away. I didn't use the spa so I can't comment on it. The rooms are spacious and spotless and the cleaning staff are also very friendly & nothing is a problem. I will definitely be returning to this hotel. We stayed from 13 - 23 October 2012.
