“Good Hotel but too many kids”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

The hotel was very good overall, the staff and animation team were excellent the only problem was the kids in the dining room. We watched as children as young as five were allowed to serve themselves and ended up mixing in one food with another especially when getting gravy or sauce. We also saw them licking the tops of the sauces for the ice cream and using the scoops without cleaning them first so that if you wanted Chocolate ice cream you got Vanilla and Strawberry mixed in. Other than this it was a great holiday and I have to give a special mention to Paulina, Adrian and Patrick from the animation team

Dear John,

Thank you very much for choosing the IFA Interclub Atlantic Hotel for your holidays as well as for sharing on TripAdvisor your recent experience with us.

We are very glad to know you enjoyed your stay here and we thank you for your words of praise regarding our staff, specially the animation team. We will pass on to Paulina, Adrián and Patrik your kind words.

On the other hand, we appreciate your feedback regarding some children's behaviour in the restaurant and we really feel sorry for it. We have signs in the restaurant where we encourage parents not to let their children serve themselves the food but this is parent's responsibility and sometimes it's difficult to control. Nonetheless, we will take this comment under consideration.

We would be pleased to welcome you once again!

Best regards

Great hotel really can't believe it was only a 3 star, we had a villa right next to the children's park, the park was clean and shaded from the sun, we used the sun beds right by the children's pool as it was close to the park and pool every where was so clean. There was always food/drinks available and close by, our room was cleaned every morning and towels replaced, our villa had 2 bedrooms upstairs and a living room downstairs, I would highly recommend one of them if you have children, the food was lovely, always a large choice all self service, entertainment was provided every day and night. I can't praise the entertainment staff enough as they were great, I had 4 children aged between 10 & 1 and they were all included in the fun. The hotel is at the top of a hill but as I said I had a one year old in a pram and it didn't bother me walking to the beach it took 10 mins and the beach was clean and tidy. We went to playa de ingles beach to in a taxi and it only cost 5 euro which is great. We're looking at going back at the end of the year as we all had such a lovely holiday.

I have spent the last 12 years taking holidays with my 2 children all around the world and this is the first time I have felt compelled to write a review. There seem to be a lot of different opinions so I though I'd share mine.Hotel.. very nice lovely swimming pools but a little bit cold when you first get in but it was the last week in March when we arrived, nothing to worry about though.Loads of room in the 2 main pools no long wait for the water slides( which were actually quite good) and the baby pool was a really good size also. There was never a shortage of sunbeds and as well as the area around the pool there are loads of lovely places to sit in the gardens.Food I thought was fantastic, a good selection of everything all day.Breakfast was a selection of all of the English favourites, but no the sausages aren't Walls and yes the bacon is smoky and streaky but you are 2000 miles from home! There is also a good selection of breads salad, fruit, continental meats and cheeses and yoghurt every day.Evening meals and lunch was also great loads of everything every night, always a good selection of meat, fish, pasts dishes and Chinese available every night plus all of the salad bread etc. Deserts were what you would expect a bit sweet for my taste but none the less there was always a great selection plus more ice cream than you could imagine. Drinks are available throughout the day from the bars but when you are outside they come in fairly small plastic cups, but I guess this is a safety thing.
Rooms I upgraded to a family room on arrival for 6 euros per night and it was worth every penny, really spacious room with a double bed single and a sofa bed, walk in wardrobes which was great as i have 12 year olds of the opposite sex who are concious of the bodies! TV coffee table and chairs a dressing table nice bathroom and a really good size balcony.Lovely and clean and beds made every day towels changed whenever you wanted.Staff were amazing all reception staff spoke excellent English, dining room staff and bar staff fabulous didn't feel as though we were being rushed once. The "Animation Team" a group of 20 something's from around Europe that amazing twice a day they would organise all different activities around the pool area from darts to water aerobics, and unlike some places I've been they weren't pushy if you didn't want to join in , no worries. Some nights the y would put on the show in the main bar and they were really good fun for both adults and kids other nights entertainment is bought in from outside which again was very good.

Down side..the rooms aren't air conditioned so I would imagine in the summer it gets very hot at night,no problem in the winter and springtime in fact it was very pleasant temperature at night when we were there,Location, yes it is quite a way from anything the closest shop is a Spar which is very well stocked and reasonably priced the only trouble is that it is a 10 minute walk down the hill there and it felt like forever walking back up with a couple of bags. There is however a small shop on the hotel grounds that sell most things. The beech is quite a walk and my Kids counted 156 steps down to it! and as with most of the Islands the beech is black volcanic sand.Mas Palomas and Playa Del Ingles are a 10 minute Taxi ride away and it will cost approx 5 Euros each way from right outside the hotel,so if you want to see some more of the area it's not that expensive. That said if you are all inclusive as we were you should have no need to leave the hotel.I would really recommend this hotel to family and couple looking for a good value all inclusive holiday couldn't fault our stay.

Room Tip: Up grade to a family room if you can, and one overlooking the pool,

We stayed here in nov 2011 as part of a work group 18-30ish! there were 20 of us. The hotel itself i rate as excellent, food was varied, plentiful and fresh. drinks were excellent, plenty to do inc table tennis etc, animation team were good, we spoke to them a lot as we were from a holiday park with ents, and they worked extremly hard. The room was large, clean and comfortable, we had a sea view in the block above the bora bora. The pool was excellent as well as the grounds. The beach and shops were about a 10-15 min walk downhill on the way! We went Playa del ingles quite a lot which was about 5 euros. The only downside was its location, ideal to chill out but if you are like us and wanted a bit of night life, you will have to travel, but that was no problem. The staff and cleaners were excellent as well. Im looking to book for dec for a week after staying in playa del ingles for a week so i get the best of both, party week then relaxing week, with the bonus of going to party when im there.

Lovely clean rooms and friendly staff, but very basic facilities closer to 2 star. all inclusive but everything had a deposit , towels tv remote, and limited bar and restaurant hours. Grounds were wonderful, food pretty good, but roadside noise was bad and mostly the location was very deceptive. 800 meters to steps to the beach but then a 20 minute walk down the steps and another 20 minutes to walk to the nearest shops restaurants. A free shuttle would have been good.

Room Tip: garden view rooms away from the disco

Just got back from a two week stay here and throughly enjoyed it. The weather was excellent on all but one day which made the experience all the better of course.Good trip over which arrived on time;efficient and friendly reception staff and allocated a family room overlooking the pool on the second floor.
Room spacious and clean-enough room for the four of us to move about, store our clothes,sleep,wash/shower and dress without tripping over each other. Pool area and gardens are very well maintained and presented and there were a variety of places you could lay on a sun-lounger-either next to one of the pools or on the grass/garden areas nearby. The water was warm and although Easter week was busy there was always plenty of room in the pools and we never had a problem getting a sun-lounger. My 10 year old son was" too cool" to participate in the Kids club but he interacted with the very friendly Animation team and enjoyed playing pool,table-tennis and other games in the pool bar area. The restaurant facilities were good and we enjoyed excellent breakfasts, lunches and dinners, with plenty of variety to choose from at every meal time. The shows at night were either presented by the Animation team or consisted of professional acts of a good standard. The free drinks and snacks were fine-the local rum and whisky was of a decent standard and spirits were served in good quantities by friendly bar staff. The first week we were there I would estimate around 80% of the guests were either Scandanavian,German,Dutch, French.Spanish,Italian or other European nationals. Most were friendly- though its harder to make friends with those who don't share a common language.
The room was well cleaned every day with towel changes;and being there for two weeks we also had our bedding changed(though we did have to remind them to do this). The nearby beach is pleasant and the water was warm-our boys enjoyed riding the waves. The walk to Playa Del Ingles along the coast is enjoyable and there were always taxis outside to take you there or elsewhere should you prefer. My eldest son and I also went to the disco one night but this was after the busy Easter weekend so was very quiet. Negatives?-the state of the carpets in the hallways leading to guest rooms has been mentioned several times in reviews and they are not the most welcoming sight on arrival but during our last couple of days there wer being replaced throughout the hotel as far as I could see -so that problem is being addressed. The beds weren't very comfortable-with hard mattresses;though the camp beds our sons slept on were very adequate and actually more comfortable.
Music is played quite loud constantly in the pool and pool restaurant area-which we didn't mind too much but they could do with changing the tapes more often and up-dating the music played.Overall though we had a really good time and didn't get bored over the two weeks. This is a good quality three star hotel for families which works hard to maintain and improve what's on offer and for us provided very good value for our money.

Dear Robin,

Thank you for choosing the IFA Interclub Atlantic Hotel to spend your holidays and also for sharing this nice review on TripAdvisor.

We are pleased to know you and your family enjoyed your stay here. Thank you for your kind comments regarding our meals, our pool and garden areas and the friendly staff at reception. I will pass on to them your feedback...

On the other hand we also appreciate your "negative" comments, since they help us improve our service towards our guests. Regarding the music played by the animation team we would like to inform you we have already passed on to them your feedback in order to improve this.

We hope we can welcome you again on a further occasion.

Kindest regards

Just got back from a weeks break. Although I booked at the last minute, the hotel was very quick to respond to my e-mail request for a room away from any road. We were very pleased with the allocated room, overlooking the gardens.
Most of my feedback is positive in that the hotel is clean, grounds lovely, pool area kept clean and plenty of sunbeds. The restaurant offered a good choice of food, all fresh and nicely cooked. There was always something that we liked at all the meals. Staff were lovely and friendly (apart from the lady in the mini market who was most definitely NOT happy in her work!)
Overall I would say that if you went as a family with children this would be the ideal place...plenty of entertainment and all, the children there seemed to be having a great time.
I would say though, that if I was booking our main holiday I would probably have researched a little more as it was not really suited to a middle to older aged couple. This is not a slur on the hotel itself as it does live up to 3 * family orientated expectations. But we found the lack of relaxing areas for a quiet evening drink after dinner ,coupled with the location in an extremely quiet resort led to us being pretty bored after a few days. Its not that we wanted a hectic nightlife, but there was just no where to relax after dinner. On the plus side though, the bus services on Gran Canaria are good and taxis are plentiful- only about 10-15 minutes into Playa del Ingles. On the whole though,I would recommend older couples/singles to look at a more central hotel as this one is not for a quiet relaxing holiday....
