“Nice hotel, but needs a few things to make it excellent.”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

I am currently staying at this hotel, I still have a week to go. There are a number of excellent things about the hotel, but there are a few which could make it outstanding and they would not even be expensive. So here are the things which I think would help improve the stay.

1. Move the all inclusive ice creams for the children to the pool bar. It is ridiculous that the children have to walk so far away from their parents for a tiny pot of ice cream.

2. Make it clear that floatable lilos and toys are not allowed in the main pool. I have watched many people belittled and told off like children for having something in the pool which is not made clear is not allowed. Also when it is a non diving pool, why is it only the English being told off but the Spanish children doing this allowed???

3. I have never ever stayed in a hotel where the all incisive finishes at 12 on your final day, even if your flight is not until midnight that night. When the majority of flights coming into the country only allow you a half day to start with, the hotel is not losing money by allowing you to have all inclusive up until you fly out.

4. Your pool man is a nightmare, he picks and chooses who he fancies removing towels from. I have witnessed towels being left on sun beds from 7am - 4 pm everyday and the families not turning up until 4pm. These get left alone. But many many others have their towels removed .

5. Ideally the packets of crisps which you charge one euro per pkt for would be great included for the children. Kids often only want a pkt of crisps of an afternoon instead of something hot.

6. Now this might be my biggest bug bare and in truth it isn't really the hotels problem. But I have yet to see a rep at my hotel, see a book from a rep or even know if we have a rep. This is utterly disgraceful. We booked with Monarch and flew with Tiny Planet. I am so shocked we have had no correspondence etc from a rep I wonder what the hell our rep must do when there are only two hotels in San Augustin they supposedly cover??

Plus points.

Hotel is spotless and our room absolutely beautiful. The cleaners are a credit to the hotel. The staff work very hard, but I have had a couple of instances where I have felt a pest asking for a drink from the main bar. However Ramone has more than made up for the rudeness of the odd barman. Incidentally when you are only asking for two sprites and two hot chocolates you really don't expect to be asked quite rudely are you finally finished !!!

The service with regards to wanting extra pillows or even fixing a safe or door is incredible. No request like this is too great and any ordinary issue is dealt with instantly.

The pool itself is spotless and very beautiful. Excellent for the kids and adults alike.

Evening entertainment is as expected. Bit cheesy but keeps the kids amused. The only one which was awful was meant to be a circus act. He juggled and the lady pretended to be two dancing puppets, aside from the puppets being scary and the fact they appeared to have sex, the whole thing was somewhat uncomfortable. That's an act I would recommend not watching again.

Food is good, they have different themes every day. Like all all inclusives it does get a little repetitive. However I would be wholly shocked if they could not find something they liked no matter how fussy an eater,

The all inclusive drinks include named brands like coke, Smirnoff, Bacardi. Plus every night there is a cocktail bar.

In all despite the odd little thing I think the hotel it's location and almost everything is fab. I think it's a little over priced. But if the few things I mentioned could be addressed then the price and all customers experiences would be great :)

Thoroughly enjoyed my two week stay at the Gloria palace, San Augustin. We were all inclusive and feel we got great value for money. Staff were very helpful and friendly, the accommodation was very clean and spacious and there was a great choice of food during the day and throughout the holiday. There was good activities for all to take part in, however the entertainment at night sometimes lacked. Overall, we were very pleased with our holiday. Big thanks to all the staff.

Nothing to complain about apart from location is quiet.

However 7 euros to faro maspalomas in a taxi- must go and visit there! (Buses also run there)
5 euros to playa del ingles in a taxi.

Food- Delicious with 7 themed nights
Comfort- Great
Entertainment- Fantastic- especially 'Black Brothers'
Pool area- Upper pool deck is the best :) nice and peaceful. 'Sunbed rush' not too horrific.. but don't expect a long lie in! lie in till around 8.30 should leave you enough time to get some beds!
Staff- Friendly and couldn't be more helpful!
Hotel- Fantastic and modern!
Rooms- Big and have everything you need!

All rooms are sea view :)

Recommended excursions- Canarian Combo- Camel ride, 4x4 jeep off road and dolphin/whale watching.
Supercat Catarmaran- luxury!

My wife and twin girls stayed here all inclusive at the end of July 2013. We had read many reviews some good some bad, the most recent had all been good and we were not disappointed. We arrived late on day one, after the restaurant had closed. However one quick phone call and we were sent straight in to have a meal. At no time did we feel pressured to eat up and leave. The room was clean and spacious lovely views. The maid service was very good, even folded our night clothes. The food was fantastic, always a good choice and plenty of it. The pool was great, it did get very busy so towels out at dawn to bag a sun lounger. Night time entertainment was good, they had some very good acts. Just bear in mind you are not at a Las Vegas show... I must admit one of the best shows was done by the hotels own entertainment team. please do take care around the pool area and using the steps upto the pool as they get very slippery when wet. My wife's bruised coccyx will testify as to how hard the steps are if you should slip. Staff very friendly especially piedro in the restaurant. One recent review mentioned smoking, no smoking ban here. Bit of a pain at night if you had smokers nearby, also smoking allowed around the pool. Solution... Cough loudly... Staff on reception very helpful. Had a maintenance issue that was resolved before we had even reported it. All in all a great place, would go back.

Fast check in, most of staff was friendly and speak english so didnt have the problem with it. But sunbeds were always busy even in the morning was hard to find something free, plenty of noise children in swimming pools so you wont find the quiet place as long you go outside the hotel. Entertainment was poor mostly loud music till 24 so some people can have problems with sleeping. Room was big and clean every day but bed was bit hard for me.We have it twice problem with our card to the room so have to get it recoded which was annoying if you are with infant. The bus from airport is 3.5 to the San Augustin then bit of climbing and youre at the hotel about 10 min walk. Taxi to shopping centre in Playa de Ingles is about 4,75 euro. Beach in distance of 15 min walk. Generally if you want to have a quiet holiday dont go in busy time like we were in end of July. Food was good but sometimes in the evening time when everybody get for eating the fish was uncooked. Room was clean every day but bed mattress was too hard for me. Long waiting time for elevator in evening time.
Drinks were very bad mix of something in the glass also long waiting time for it -sometimes only one person beside the bar. Plenty of smoking people in your face or face of your child -should be places where you can smoke. Because of that we spend most of the time outside the hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid busy times in the year, no point to take AI HB will be enough.

We stayed here for just over a week in July & enjoyed our stay. The rooms were spacious and clean with a lovely view. The pool area was lovely and had plenty of beds around the pool and an upper area looking out onto the sea and the town. The restaurant offered a variety of cuisines and each night was reserved to a particular cuisine which we enjoyed. However, the restaurant was indoors and we would have preferred to eat outside since the weather was so beautiful and back home it's not (always) possible to do dine outdoors! The entertainment each night was lively and fun from singers to spanish dancers, there was something for everyone. We would definitely consider returning to this hotel in the future and even though we didn't travel with children, this hotel is very much child friendly with lots of sports offered and a mini club. There was a beautiful roof top terrace with a pool, bar and restaurant which provided breathtaking views of the area accompanied by a relaxing vibe. The hotel also offered a free bus service to beaches in Meloneras and Playa de ingles at various times which made it easy to plan a day trip. All in all, a lovely holiday.
