“Fantastic Hotel”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

We stayed for a week at the beginning of June and I have to say we had a fabulous time. It has been a few years since we visited Europe,as we normally go to the States on holiday,so we had a few reservations as to whether we would enjoy ourselves or not,but as my brother had recommended it after a visit in April,we thought we would give it a try.I can honestly say we shouldn't have worried about anything because from the moment we stepped in to the reception to a glass of champagne ,until we checked out everything was perfect. The only negative we had was having to pay for the in room safe,as we felt that this should have been included in a A.I holiday ,having said that we are hoping to return next year.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel from 3rd-17th June,2013 on an all inclusive basis and formed the opinion that this hotel deserves all the plaudits awarded by previous guests.

We booked this holiday on line through Love Holidays.com as their prices seemed reasonable. They in turn organized the Thos Cook package but when our travel documents arrived from T Cook it stated that the Spa Centre at the hotel was closed during June to instal new water boilers. Black mark therefore to Love Holidays for not spotting that before taking our money. We may have gone to another hotel had we been made aware In the event we discovered that the Gloria Palace had laid on a courtesy bus to take us the Gloria Palace, Amadores. Very pleasant but very rushed.

Bear in mind that this hotel also lays on courtesy buses to Playa des Ingles and Maspolamas then San Agustin is a very good proposition. We took advantage of a previous review which recommended one way on the bus then walking back from either Playa des Ingles or Maspolamas We are a pair of active seniors and did not find the walk back hot or too tiring

The hotel itself stands nine storeys high and our room was on the 5th floor with magnificent views
over the little town towards the sea but we were unable to sit out on our balcony due to gusty winds and for some reason the sunshine never quite appeared to hit our room. Wrong time of the year perhaps?
The hotel grounds are surprisingly compact for such a large hotel but accommodate three swimming pools and a semi circular sun deck built on top of the family rooms, a plus point as young families have not far to go for the baby pool or the childrens play centre.

The staff are to be highly commended regarding their attitude towards their guests. We were met with a welcome drink on arrival. We were settling into our splendid room when the housekeeper arrived to check everything was to our satisfaction and to give little present of a few chocolates. Little touches like that make all the difference. The fridge and TV were not working but the maintenance man arrived in minutes to solve the problem.

Bar and dining room staff were always smiling and polite and did not take long to work out and remember our preferences for drinks or coffee and tea at breakfast. Little things I know but it all added to the overall favourable impression We enjoyed the evening shows, with my wife passing the comment that the Lionel Ritchie tribute singer sounded better than the original!!

The rooftop restaurant and swimming pool seemed underused and was not part of the all inclusive package The adjacent naturist terrace was more used and well worth a visit for an all over tan.
Hotel not really suitable for disabled guests in wheel chairs as building is some way up a steep slope, with high kerbs plus lamposts obstructing the pavements. Able bodied can take advantage of raised walkways to avoid traffic whilst going down to the shopping areas

Room Tip: 4th floor and above for the views alone

First thing first if you are booking with monarch or cosmos be warned you will actually fly with small planet airlines which is a much cheaper airline very cramped not the standard monarch airlines and our flight was delayed coming back!

Me and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel for 7 nights in June all inclusive really nice hotel, amazing waterfall as you enter the hotel and welcoming staff at reception we had asked for the top floor and requested a sea veiw room and that's certainly what we got. Beautiful room I have stayed In many 5 star hotels and this one was not far off it! Rooms were cleaned properly everyday friendly cleaning staff.
Buffet meals were lovely sometimes not always hot enough but that may just be me being fussy as I like my food really hot! There was a good selection of food however there wasn't many themed nights so could get a bit boring if you stayed any longer then a week!

Roof top bar and resturant (Gobera) made this hotel that extra bit special we spent most of our evenings up there beautiful veiw of the ocean lovely pool and special beds with a romantic setting was a lovely relaxing spot! However you could not get any all inclusive drinks or meals up there you had to pay for them I found this a little odd as its still part of the hotel. Waiters were very welcoming and gave us free nuts, olives, sweets and cookies which I thought was a nice touch to make up for it .

Staff were friendly but when we arrived we weren't actually shown around the hotel I.e were the restaurant is bars, pool, rooftop bar we had to discover it all for our selves felt maybe they could shown you around more as we spoke to a lot of couples and families and they did not know about the roof top bar resturant and pool area on the 9th floor!

The spa was a massive disappointment I was really looking forward to using it however it was closed for 2 weeks and it happened to be over the duration of our stay. They did offer a free bus to the gloria royal amadores spa but it was tiny not really worth it and over 40 mins away.

Entertainment well lets just say it was SHOCKING that's only thing that really let the hotel down everything shuts in the hotel around 12ish outside bar closes at 10pm so if you want to stay out late you need to get a taxi to playa de ingles or las palmas.

Beaches were lovely we spent most of our time on anfi beach beautiful white sand clear blue sea I have stayed at the anfi beach club resort one of the best beaches around as there is not many white beaches because the island being a volcanic island. One the staff at reception also recommended us to go there so it was nice she knew what she was talking about. We took the bus there which was around 30 mins. You can go to maspalomas beach or playa de ingles which is only 5 mins away but it's not as nice. Two shopping centres near the hotel which was great for getting gifts and presents. Lots to do on the island we went jet skiing and went on a Catamaran boat trip which was lovely.

Room Tip: Pick the 7th or 8th floor with a sea view they are the best rooms definitely worth it.

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights at the beginning of June 13.

Room on the top floor great views of the sea. Nice size room and bathroom. Plenty of closet space and a nice balcony. - if you speak English and looking to watch some tv when in th room the only channel in english is Sky News.

Food - Pleny of choice and theme nights. Good choice for cold salads hot choices, deserts, fruit and they have stations where food is prepared for you. Staff in the restuarant could be slow to take drinks order, this was a worry as the hotel was quite quiet.

AI - good choice of drinks and plenty of choice, if staying here go AI.

Pools - clean and plenty of loungers, I spent most of my time in the chill out area pon the roof top terrace. It costs 10 Euros per day but worth it for the peace and quiet t is for adults only. Was very quiet and peaceful would definitely recommend paying the extra to use the roof top area.

Spa - was closed during my visit

Surrounding Area - ten minute walk to the local shoppng area and beach. nice walks along hte beach and the beach has a water sports set up if you are wanting to do jet skiing etc.

I used the tennis coach facilities and would highly recommend Kiko excellent teacher and had a great time, he also does a special deal 4 lessons for 100 euro which was definitely worth it. i had one on one coaching.

Entertainment - cant comment as didnt spend my evenings in the bar.

If you are looking for an affordable AI hotel with good facilities I would recommend this hotel, I stayed as a solo traveller but the hotel is more suited for couples and families. I would return to this hotel should i visit Gran Canaria in future.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on one of the higher floors for great sea views.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. Rooms were quite big and very up to date when compared to other Spanish 4* hotels. I would advise everyone to choose this hotel and if possible hire a car from the airport as it will help them explore the island much better. As we had hired a car we traveled on a daily basis to Playa de Los amadores, where the beach was picturesque. Food at the hotel was good but easily it could have been improved a bit as on most days there were pretty much the same fruits, salads and desserts. We were on half board basis and we found drinks to be a bit expensive at the hotel, so we bought what we wanted from the local Spar.Overall I would recommend this hotel to everyone and we would go back.

Room Tip: Choose higher floor for perfect sea view.Rooms were very clean and beds comfy.

First of all, ignore the doubters. This is an above average 4 star hotel.
Rooms - ask for a high floor. Guaranteed sea views await. Anything on 4 or higher. If you are low, you might find the balcony a bit near the bar! Rooms are modern, clean, very spacious. (Only negative is you have to pay for mini bar to be stocked.
Food - excellent quality and variety. Only at 2 meals did I find the range of food a little odd. Chefs were regularly monitoring the temperature too, so they must be responding to previous negative comments. You could have a bottle of wine with your meal & there was plenty of room. You will need smart shorts or long trousers. I was delighted that they did turn people away who had beach shorts and vests/sleeveless tee shirts on in the evening.
Service - was very good throughout. I accept that you can't afford to be too British if you want a waiter to come to you. Get your hand up. You need to be forward at getting their attention, but that's common throughout Europe.
Bars - as above, and a good range of all inclusive drinks. (Nice draught beer - in a glass tankard). The only negative of the whole hotel was that the pool bar stopped serving at 6pm, yet the pool was open til 8. There was another outside bar open, but it was shady with no view. The pool bar would've been more pleasant at that time of the evening. Likewise at night, there was one outside bar which was full of smokers, or one inside which was full of kids disco followed by entertainment, so nowhere quiet and classy to escape. (A minor quibble).
Entertainment - absolutely awful, beyond words. Lionel Richie tribute was the lowlight. Every Tuesday for the rest of the season he will perform, so I recommend you go to the beach and count sand.

Room Tip: Highest floor possible. Floor 4 or above

We stayed here the last week in May and had a lovely holiday.
The food was fantastic, plenty of choice and always fresh and warm.
We had gone all inclusive and that was so impressive in every way. Our group consisted of 6 adults, 2 teenagers and 3 children, everyone was kept happy and the restaurant staff made a fuss of the children which made them feel very welcome.
The drinks that were included were the real thing, Bacardi, baileys, fanta, oh and the cocktails were a must, truly excellent value.
The only criticism I could find was the children's entertainment, this was very poor. The day staff all seemed very young and did not seem to get the younger children motivated, or even when you approached them they didn't really show any enthusiasm.
I would love to go back to this hotel someday, maybe when the children are a little older so they don't get fed up during the day. Oh one last comment is the location it's a bit out of town so keep in mind you need to hop on a bus or grab a taxi to get anywhere.
