Reviewed March 14, 2013

This was our third visit to this resort hotel. We have stayed at several hotels in Jandia, Costa Calma and Correlejo. Magic Life is my favourite hotel in Fuerteventura. This time we decided to book the Private Lodge, for that little bit extra quality and personal attention. We weren't disappointed. Our room was a similar size to standard rooms, but better furnished (but still no bidet - my only criticism). Private Lodge Junior suites are also available, and appeared to be very large and well-furnished, from peeps through open doors during cleaning.

We found a welcome package of fresh fruit and a bottle of red wine in our room on arrival. There was also a fully stocked fridge of free, fizzy soft drinks and still water, which was replenished as required.

The Private Lodge is a separate area at the northern tip of the hotel with good sea views. It has its own restaurants, one for breakfast and lunch (a combination of waiter and self-service), and another upstairs with panoramic views, for Dinner (generally waiter-only service). There is a small lounge and bar area in the restaurant where one can serve oneself from a wide range of spirits (some well-known brands of spirits, and local wines and beer). Drinks are free, including bottles of house wine with the evening meal, but a good selection of iberian a la carte wines are also available at reasonable extra cost. Service was always good and the waiting staff were friendly and courteous, even to us non-Germans.

The Private Lodge has an unheated main pool and a smaller, heated jacuzzi pool. It has beautiful sea views, and a nicely laid-out garden area with sea view, for sitting out with a gin and tonic (or whatever), lapping up the sun. Weather was very hot and pleasant for March.

Breakfast choice is limited, particularly for hot meals ordered from the waiting staff, so one day we went to the main restaurant for breakfast. The contrast was absolute. I have no criticism per se of large self-service restaurants in resort hotels, but they can be very noisy and busy. By contrast, the Lodge restaurant is an ocean of calm, restful enjoyment. Well worth the extra money. One should be prepared to spend longer over an evening meal, say up to 90 minutes, but the reward is an imaginative menu of at least three starters and two main courses, beautifully presented on the plate, with an embellishment of excellent sauces. The cuisine is the best I have ever experienced in any resort hotel. On changeover day (presumably for Germans) most waiting staff got the day off and we had a self-service barbecue meal, which offered many choices and was delicious. Another night, the menu was six courses of table d'hote, explained by a special menu entirely in German, wrapped in gold tape. I don't object to that, and it was a voyage of pleasurable discovery. I didn't like the fish course but my wife relished it.

We were sad to have to leave after a week of relative luxury.

Some general points: the beach is sandy, but with rocks. One can walk for miles in both directions, tide permitting, to areas without rocks. We hire a car each year and go each day to our favourite beach at Risco del Paso, about 3 miles north of Esquinzo. You can walk into Jandia simply by turning left out of the hotel complex and walking southwards (roughly south east). You have to negotiate an area of unmade road past a nearby abandoned hotel building project, but soon come to quiet local access roads which take you into Jandia/Morro Jable. You might want to catch a taxi back though.

We have been spoiled by our Private Lodge experience and are impatient to repeat the experience soon.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view. Block 30 in Private Lodge is preferred to Block 31.

we are just about to leave from a one weeks stay at club magic life. all in all a nice place, we were given a real cot for our youngest and the rooms are very spacious it did depend on the maid as to how clean they were kept but clean towels everyday are always a bonus. only sky and bbc news in English on tv. nothing wrong with the food but very repetitive pretty much the same every day. beach is rubbish but for the taxi cost of €8 the beach in town is lovely. staff are very friendly and very welcoming to children but the whole place is set up for the majority guests which is zee Germans. worth a visit but we won't be returning as didn't offer enough for a young family.

I went twice to this hotel in 2011. Once in September and again in December. The food was fabulous which for al inclusive hotels was great. The service is excellent and the staff so helpful. The beach outside the hotel isn't great but if you get the bus to Jandia there is a great beach and shops & restaurants. Just booked to go again in April, I don't usually go anywhere more than once but have experienced some awful all inclusive hotels and here I know what I am getting for a very reasonable price.

We were very disappointed with this hotel, having travelled loads of times before to Thomson premium class hotels including the Club Magic in Sharm el Sheikh this one is not a patch on others. The good stuff... The bedrooms are very clean and serviceable, the pools fine and the bar service and quality of drinks very good so it wins on these fronts. Now the bad stuff... TV is out of the arc, no English channels only Sky and BBC News! Boring, you might think you wouldn't need to watch TV but we had poor weather and are not keen on spinning or step classes so had nothing to do because they don't lay on sociable activities for those not super fit! Example - Egypt's Club Magic held Zumba, Latin dance classes all for the novice to enjoy as well as lots of other stuff for everyone to join in if wanted. The restaurant was just ok, the food pleasant enough but you had to be very selective on your dining times because the staff did not lay or clear tables very swiftly which meant you had to go searching for cups, glasses fresh water yourselves, no waiter service whatsoever! Bedrooms lacked some basic items, no tissues, toiletries, small towels and they were hard! Don't bother with the beach unless you want to walk along it at low tide because there are not any loungers, maybe this changes in higher seasons? They advertise evening entertainment well.. If you speak fluent German then you will have fun, the hotel crew didn't other even translating for the English residents - guess they can't be bothered because they weren't. The flight - ok but no movie or entertainment, why is this when the planes all have screens, why are they not used surely it wouldn't cost anything to turn them on. I write this review not being biased but I use trip advisor as a guide when I look for holidays and find it useful and make my own mind up from others opinions too. In summary this hotel is only worth a 3 star.

We stayed for 11 nights, 7 of which were at the main hotel and 4 at the private lodges. There is so much to do at this hotel, I did so many activities that I haven't tried before. For me archery, water aerobics and sunset meditation were my preferred choices. I laughed non stop at Grace, the lovely water aerobics instructor and elegant dancer. Nikki the archery instructor was just lovely, he was top honcho too, I will treasure my classes with him and Arry the dancer and mediation instructor, what a cool guy. Our first room was massive, great view. The bed for me was very hard but they put some blankets underneath for me as soon as I mentioned it. The complex is beautiful, so well cared for. There is a proper theatre, a lot of the shows were done by the hard working entertainments team, the shows were brilliant, made even more brilliant because you know who is in them. My only little gripe was with the food, you could get most things but a lot of the time stuff was cold. I know they cater for a lot of people however. The speciality restaurants were ok but there was more choice in the main restaurant, we did try them all. I would rate the main hotel 3 stars, the entertainment 5, the bikes and equipment were first class. As mentioned we stayed at the lodge, this was a different league and cost 35 euros more each a day and considering the difference this was money well spent, it was complete luxury, the bedrooms were beautifully decorated, the bed just a dream to sleep in, the food was exquisite, as good as a top Michelin restaurant. You could only eat here if u stayed in the lodge, the drinks were proper brands and the wines delicious, the pools were heated and includes an infinity pool and a jacuzzi style. This was five star quality at its best, I am glad I did both areas however because it would have been very easy to stay just within this sanctuary. I loved the lodge so much that I wNt to go back in the winter 2013, it seems they are shutting it however as not enough people stay. If you can, go there now, you won't regret it. 250 a week more you'll still pay less than other hotels and you won't be disappointed. Back in England today.... Boo hoo.

Having experienced All Inclusive in many countries, we were very impressed with Club Magic Life in Fuerteventura. 15 feeding stations in main restaurant. Always well stocked with food both fresh and hot. Many doing show cooking. Wine on every table at dinner.
Rooms are large and well maintained. We had a cleaner every day. Towels were changed daily and bedding twice weekly. On the down side, the beach. When the tide was in there was no sand, only boulders to scramble over. Even when the tide was out there was very little sand. All in all a good holiday, just what you need in February to recharge your batteries.
