“This place is what it is”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

When we booked this via Thomson it was given a 5T rating, so I was expecting the place to be a bit more "exclusive" than it actually was. However, we were afforded a nice welcome from the staff at reception and given a welcome drink on arrival. One bonus is that the whole place is all-inclusive so there were no annoying wrist bands! The staff then explained in some detail about where our room was and about the various restaurants etc, and our bags were taken to our room for us. Our room was large and air conditioned - my main beef is that the bed was extremely uncomfortable, but other than that it was fine. Our air conditioning stopped working halfway through the week, but it was fixed very quickly. The main pool area is very large and there were always sun beds available. One thing I would mention is that the brochure said the beach was a few steps down from the hotel. It is actually a very steep climb and the steps are a little dodgy, so anyone that has problems walking maybe would not be able to manage them. Food and drink is available 24 hours a day, and whilst not of gourmet standards, is plentiful and there was always something different to choose from, and the drinks are not watered down as we have found on some all-inclusive trips. We did try all the individual restaurants, and it was waiter service in all but one. There was entertainment every night, although the main show did not start until 2145hrs which we found a bit late. We found the staff to be very polite and helpful (apart from one waiter in one of the individual restaurants). There always seemed to be something going on and most of the activities were included in the price of the holiday. All in all we had a very nice time and nothing really to complain about.

I was apprehensive about this hotel after reading lots of bad reports on this hotel. We have just returned from a week at Club Magic Life and can honestly say it was the best value All-Inclusive we have stayed at. We booked a sea view which was really nice, the room was cleaned every day and the bathroom was spotless. There are only a couple of English TV channels in the room but I don't go on holiday to spend much time watching television in my room! Air-conditioning is free but it did seem to go off at midnight, so the room could get quite hot and make sleeping a bit uncomfortable. The hotel is set in lovely gardens which are well looked after by the staff, who always say hello to you when they see you, in fact all of the staff we came across were pleasant and friendly. The only negatives I could point out are that at certain times of the evening, the Wunderbar gets really busy, usually just after the evening meal finishes, so could use an extra pair of hands to get the queue down. Also, in the Magico buffet dining room, so many people use it at the same time, that sometimes it is hard to get a cleaned table. However, when we asked a waiter to find us a table, he did so willingly, cleared it and fetched us clean cutlery, so if you need something, just ask. The beach is a steep staircase away, which got a bit slippery when there was a lot of sand on it, but the pool is a lovely alternative, with a really good pool bar that also does snacks. We have looked at prices for next September, and it is more than matching up with its competitors. No wristbands at this hotel which is lovely and also, after 12 noon check-out you can still eat and drink there for free, until you are picked up to go the airport, in our case at 5pm. Tropical beer and real Coca Cola, 7up, Fanta, etc. Plently of choice of food at the buffet. I found something to eat at every meal, but it might not suit the fussiest of holiday-makers. It isn't a 5 star hotel but it is a good 4 star one, with free spin classes, aerobics, biking, walking, etc, etc. The entertainment staff definitely earn their money. It isn't in the centre of Jandia, which was nice actually, as Jandia has changed a lot since I was last there 10 years ago. No local buses at all as the company has gone bust, so Thomson need to update their website to say that, as the only way to Jandia is walking up the beach (dependant on tide) or by taxi, which won't give you much change from a tenner. Overall, we had a great week with lovely weather in a very nice hotel.

Room Tip: Pay a bit extra for a sea view, it is worth it as the rooms are away from the bars and theatre, etc...

just returned from Fuerteventura and Club Magic Life, there are good and bad points in this hotel first the not so good ,as i understand this has been rated 5 star,on arrival we thought we had entered through a back entrance very basic frontage and the reception area dull and dated and as we found out this hotel is 10 years old,our arrival was about 10 pm as we checked in we were given a leaflet and in broken English was whipped though directions for the rooms and other various information that we had forgotten before we left the reception, the rooms are in blocks we were in block 14 that was reached by many steps and not easy to see as block 14 is on a low level not in eye view ,we were looking for it for quite a while, anyone with mobility problems struggles, also to the beach very steep and uneven steps but went to the beach twice as no sun shades or beds so it was only a stroll on the beach and lifts to some rooms often out of order. The fire alarm went off twice in the middle of the night sending people outside wondering what was going on in all sorts of nightwear and both false alarms. The dining room enormous many times looking for were we were sat, plates were left on tables and cutlery dishwashed but often not clean,no clothes on tables and paper napkins.Shallow pools ideal for children but many children left to scream and yell in the pools and the area round the pools had part shade but no umbrellas just a trellis for some, the sun beds seen better days and no matresses a child slipped on the tiles and cracked her head very smooth tiles we could see it coming,it was my birthday 65 while we were there and i recieved flowers they were nearly dead so i went to the customer service and they complained to the florist who were'nt too happy at the complaint so they got more from another florist and cancelled the original one.The pool towels were at the far end of the complex they could have one at the opposite end. Ok now good points we had a fantastic view over the sea, rooms big spotless and clean ,perfect.Drinks were good also all the staff, especially the customer service girls, the food was excellent plenty choice something for everyone and did a special table for my birthday for 6 of us ,(well done).the gardens well maintained lovely and the cats very healthy and looked after by an animal charity similar to our RSPCA never scrounging for food they had there own food and water and little animal houses ,never seen such contented cats,i liked that very much. The sports facilities were very good my partner played volleyball and went to spin centre and the gym regularly,So would i go again, no mainly because of the steps

Room Tip: pay extra have sea view

We stayed at the hotel last couple days Aug and first week Sep in general lovely hotel clean tidy great pools, the entertainment and staff very good especially Dima (very funny fella) all worked by hard to please the guests unlike the hotel staff who were cold miserable and unapproachable. The a la carte restaurants were a joke the first one we went to we walked in we're showed to our table with not a word spoken served our starters and then had to choose between two main courses straight away before being offered a drink by the time we had received a drink our main courses were served the steak was ok but the potatoe unedible corn on cob cold and not offered another drink after just thirty five minutes we upped and left the experience not very good. The main buffet restaurant was filled with lots of choice perhaps to much choice because the food was either not very hot, over cooked or yesterday's food just changed in to a different dish maybe a little less choice and concentrate on quality of food,in the mornings a lot of cooking stations ie omelet station not manned and only two toasters with one broken when you have five to six hundred people having breakfast not the sign of a PLATINUM hotel.During all sittings breakfast lunch and dinner there were not enough waiting staff so many tables were not cleared and relayed so many a time did we see people wandering around looking for tables to sit at considering Spain has high unemployment maybe they could hire a few more people !!!.The same can definitely be said for the Plaza bar,in the evenings on the third night we spoke to the Thomsons rep to ask why they only had three or four people working behind a bar that had around five hundred people in that area and wanting drinks at times the ques were ten deep we thought that as we had raised this concern that maybe they would speak to hotel management to request more staff but at the end of our ten day stay there were no more bar staff and the same long ques and no feed back from the rep when on three or four occasions they walked right past us and nothing said. This is an honest review and we have been away with Thomsons for the last four years staying at the Turquoise hotel Turkey,Jazz mirabel beech Egypt both PLATINUM hotels and deserving of that rating I am afraid the Magic life does not even come close if any body reading this review has any questions contact me at nealdodd@hotmail.co.uk and I will try to answer them and finally would we go back or recommend no am afraid we would not !!

Room Tip: We stayed in Block twelve great view of pool and sea and not much noise at night .

We stayed at this hotel the last 2 weeks of August. The hotel and the rooms are spotless we had a lovely sea view from our room and the cleaners kept it spotlesss. Getting down to the beach is a bit of an issue as you have a lot of steps to go down getting back up them was the hardest part. The food wasnt brilliant as its aimed more for the germans some of it was ok but by the time you got back to your table it wasnt very hot. They cater for the Brits well for breakfast there's sausage bacon and fried eggs but again you had to get to your table quick as it got cold pretty quick. The entertainment team are really good and try to get everyone to join in. The hotel lobby is massive and nice to go to at night after dinner they had a singer on there some nights. Its a lovely place for a chilled holiday its right in the middle of nowhere but everything you need is on sight theres even a little shop on the beach side of the complex. To get into jandia itself you can get a taxi from outside the hotel costs about 8euro's well worth a visit to as the beaches are out of this world. There's also the only British bar there were you lads out there can watch your footy. Its just above the shopping parade near the apple cosmetic shop. The shops and bars are nice there too. A trip to oasis park is a must and the one to lanzarote to see the volcano's. Its a long day on this one but well worth it. I have to say our reps Mark and Chris were wonderful they were really helpful and they were at the hotel every day so if you had any problems they would sort it there and then for you and when we were going back to the airport Mark accompanyed us and made sure we were all at the right check in desks and explained the lay out of the airport brilliantly. If they are an example of Thompsons we'd definatly travel with them again as they are the best company that we have ever been with. It does get a bit windy here some days but it is called the windy island the weather though was wonderful for the whole fortnight . They have a few cats here which they look after there's a few feeding stations around the complex were you can feed them and give them water. All in all it was a brilliant holiday even though it does caters more for the germans. There are also 4 swimming pools here and plenty of sunbeds for everyone.

It was our second holiday in Fuerteventura. First time we travelled in 2009 and stayed in Jandia Princess Hotel, very near to Club Magic Life. I travelled with my teenage daughter.
The highlight of entire holiday is a lovely, sandy beach and beautiful, blue sea with fantastic waves - great fun for both, adults and children. It`s a shame there is no bar by the beach and if you need a cold drink, you have to climb up and down the steps ( tiring ).Taking a bottle of water with you to the beach is rather pointless - gets too warm too quickly - not nice.
Club magic Life is a nice hotel, clean everywhere, lots of green, nice pools, plenty of sun beds, couple of shops. There is a special place allocated for the local cats, where you can put some food for them or change their water. Cats they are friendly, clean, well looked after by hotel staff. And they love to be stroked and played with. They also enjoy all - inclusive ham!
The only disappointing thing about this holiday was probably food and restaurants in general.
Magico - bufet restaurant - not always a great choices of food, not always so tasty, too. There are 4 a la carte restaurants, where you get a starter and pudding from the bufet and you have got a choice of 2 main dishes you can order from the menu. One of those a la carte restaurants was all bufet! There is not much of a "personal approach" in those resataurants - waiters do not pay much attention to you really ( no-one to tip in the end ).
If someone wants to book one of the trips available, I would recommend Music Hall Tavern Show ( drag queen show ) - very funny, very British! Brilliant.
To sumarise, we did enjoy our holiday in Fuerteventura again. Even if food was not 100% - who cares? Magic Life is a peaceful, lovely hotel, where everyone can find things to enjoy and relax to maximum there.

Room Tip: We stayed in a block 18, second floor, good sea view, nice and quiet to sleep at night.
