“Lovely staff, lovely home-cooked food”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

We visited here more often than any other restaurant during our fortnight's stay in Santa Ponsa. Each and every time the staff were friendly, courteous and welcoming to all. Every meal we had was thoroughly enjoyed by myself, husband and daughter. Between us, we had a variety of breakfasts, lunches and evening meals and all were delicious and most definitely home cooked. Thank you so much for making our stay that bit more special - it was lovely to get a cheery wave whenever we passed by and a warm welcome whenever we visited.

“good home cooking”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

Visited the Tuck inn on 3 occasions during our holiday, enjoyed the fish and chips, homemade chips, where lovely, next visit, we had a starter, my husband had soup, i had chicen wings, followed by lasagne, which was definitely homemade and very nice, served with chips ans salad, we were both too full to eat it all, on the 3rd visit we had Sirloin steak, i had mine with jacket potato, onion rings and salad, my husband had his with chips, but this time the chips were frozen, can;t complain as that is what most restaurants served anyway, apart from the steak, which was very thin and fatty, the meal was nice, I wouldn't have the steak again, The toilets are kept lovely, best toilets in any resort i have been too

Thank you for taking time to submit a review of your visit, and I am glad that you enjoyed the home cooking.
We are sorry that the steak did not live up to your expectations, and have addressed that as a result of your feedback and our observations.

We buy direct from the main supplier on the island, and as such we have to buy the whole piece of sirloin - which is incidentally the "ternera" or young beef, with the better texture and flavour. This is the butchered to our weight requirements ( 8 oz.) and therefore the tapered end is thicker, smaller and less fatty, whereas the larger end is thinner, covers more surface area and has more fat. Where possible / available, we use thicker slices for medium / rare cooking and thinner, but larger slices for well done requests - sadly, demand often outstrips supply for the fatter slices.

To offset this, our latest order has increased the weight of each piece of steak to nearer 9 0z. and therefore even the less tapered end of the sirloin will be thicker and we can consider cutting off any widely excessive fat. Sadly, the wholesale butcher will not use his discretion and cut the larger pieces to a greater weight and trim the fat off, which would be our ideal.
There will be no price increase, of course, and we are proud to be able to offer such a nice piece of steak for less than 12€.

As regards the chips, I am glad you enjoyed our homemade chips, which we confess "borrows" the triple cooked chips recipe of Heston Blumenthal. We currently hand peel and chip 220 llbs of local potatoes per week, but do occasionally have to resort to the frozen variety.

Finally, thank you for your constructive feedback which is always gratefully received and acted on, where possible, for the benefit of all our future customers.

“Outstanding value and choice”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

We have eaten here most days during our stay, trying the breakfasts, lunches - Sunday lunch is unbeatable - and evening meals. I recommend the curry (if uncle ben's made one this good my local take-away would lose my business) and the chicken new yorker. nice relaxed holiday dining.

Thank you for your review, and indeed to everybody who takes the time to submit constructive feedback to assist fellow travellers. Sadly we do no have time in the summer to respond to all submissions, but they are gratefully received.

I am glad the Bisto connoisseur did not deter you from trying the Sunday Lunch - which on the whole receives rave reviews like yours.

As for the curry (an indeed lasagne) we have taken to posting pictures on our websites of the home cooking / spices we use, and the curry recipe will be posted there / on our website in the winter months so you can re-create it at home, and save on take-aways.

Once again, thanks to you and everybody for the reviews which will undoubtedly assist to make us a better place to dine.
