“Great hotel. Great holiday”
Reviewed August 25, 2010

We had a gr8 all inclusive holiday at this hotel. Room was very comfortable. Food at hotel was gr8 and plenty of choice. Activities in hotel were adequate with a friendly entertainments team comprising of Max, Olly and Rosh.
Hotel ideally situated for beach and local nightlife. Bars were very lively. Only 8 euros by taxi to Magaluf. Only negative aspect was very slow bar service which meant we were regularly queuing
Would certainly recommend this hotel for families. My kids are 19, 19 and 19. They loved it and want to go back next year

We had read a mixed selection of reviews about the Rey Don Jaime Hotel however we decided to take the plunge and book to go there and I am so glad that we did! This was the first that we had travelled to Majorca with our two boys (3 and 8 months) and we were slightly nervous, however from the moment we arrived the staff were helpful, polite and very friendly, right from the people on reception to the waiters in the restaurant.
The room was clean and fairly spacious considering we had twin beds, a single bed and a cot and were cleaned everyday. The food was fantastic lots of choice and always and area set out for young children with traditional favourites, there was even a microwave to warm baby food and milk. We selected the all inclusive option and the amount of money we saved on drinks and ice-cream was amazing! We can't recommend this hotel highly enough. We are already looking to book again next year!

The hotel has a good reception area, the staff are helpfull and the hotel is clean but you should expect that in any hotel . The rooms are basic, the balcony was small. Looked at the pool area and decided not to use it, too small for the size of the hotel and felt packed so gave it a miss. Went to one of the evening events which was good (4 tops tribute band) but it was very full and smokey so we didn't go back (We expected it to be busy but thought there might be designated smoking areas). The restaurant felt more canteen than restaurant. Breakfast was ok, no variation but not bad. There is a 'grab it' method of getting a table (not come across that before) and the staff, although they were working hard, were having trouble keeping up with clearing tables. The food varied considerably, one evening was particularly good both in choice and variation, overall it was acceptable but not good. On the website this hotel was advertised as 4* standard which was very misleading, it has a 4* entrance but that is where it stops.

Booked on the last minute for a week and travelled 15 August. Arrived at hotel at 11am and unable to check into room until 2pm. The main areas of the hotel are quite nice and modern, bedrooms were clean but dated. The pool area was too small for the size of the hotel and sunbeds were crammed in like sardines and you had to queue for these every morning. Did get used to this though. The entertainers were fantastic and created a very lively pool area all day long with loads of games etc if you wanted to join in and if you didn't it was fun to watch. They also led the evening entertainment which again was lively. Great for kids. The food wasn't very good, breakfast was ok but the rest was uninspired and lukewarm so ate out a couple of times and this made it bearable. This hotel was cheap and cheerful (very Benidorm) but I would go back to this hotel as it had a very good atmosphere and met some lovely people.

We booked this hotel a week before we arrived and found it to be good value the bedroom was pretty basic but clean, food was fine although during the last few days of our holiday the hotel really filled up and it was very noisy in the restaurant, we always managed to get four sunbeds but did have to queue one morning. The enterainment team worked so hard and hard to keep everyone smiling. We would go back to this hotel but not in august as it was very busy.

Firstly, this is a three star hotel not 4T as stated in Thomson brouchure.
Nice reception area and bar, although sofas are getting scruffy.
Would benefit from free wifi in the public areas, and more computers, maybe not stuck in a crampt corner.
Rooms and very basic and not very inviting, cleaned everyday however.
Would benefit from having better mattresses, bedding and towels.
Has small safe but you have to pay 3euros per day, again would improve things if this was free to use.
Does have bbc1 bbc2 and c4,which is very handy.
Pool area is nice but much smaller than it lookson photos in brochure, very surprised on my first morning that a queue had formed waiting for doors to pool area to be opened, and eventually waited half hour! Didnt do this again, and if everyone stopped this habit then it would make it a much more relaxing holiday. Still managed to get sunbed sometime during the day, be it later in the afternoon or on the terrace area, slightly away from the pool. As withn all hotels, not enough parasols.
Surprisingly, the all inclusive drinks was not self service, and again queues formed with sometimes a good ten minute wait, staff worked very hard and long hours but not that friendly.
All inclusive snack bar outside was self service, and was just burgers, chips etc with often flies around (didnt have any of this food)
Main restaurant was again ok, breakfast usually very busy but good selection.
Lunch was very limited and not very exciting, and again had to queue to get all inclusive drinks, no waiter service.
Evening meal had much more choice, all in all food was average and just bit tasteless.
If you are the type of person who like to join in all the activities then this hotel is just great for you, the team are very good and organise lots of day and evening activities, if however you like peace and quiet, then not for you.
If you have young children, again the kids entertainers were very good, organising lots of things to keep the kids amused.
Location of hotel is very good with just a two minute walk to the lovely sandy beach.
So a good hotel but not excellent, with just a few alterations this could be a worthy 4* hotel.

Stayed at hotel for one week from 2nd August half board. Reception area clean and modern, hotel bedrooms ok are basic but are cleaned everyday.
Restaurant was busy but they opened up the "conservatory" extension and we sat in their for breakfast/dinner as you could always find a table and it was quieter. The guy worked really hard clearing tables etc. As we were half board he came to us each evening and asked what we wanted to drink so we didn't have to queue. We found the food choices to be extensive and always plenty of it and usually a chef special each evening ie paella, curry etc
The pool area wasn't that large and yes you had to queue if you wanted to certain place or an umbrella, Half way through our week more sunbeds arrived so the hotel were listening to any complaints. I quite enjoyed the sunbed queue each morning as you got to speak to other guests.
Local bus service is good and we went to Palma for the day, the Cathedral and Port are work a visit.
The evening entertainment at the hotel was excellent and Max and Co worked really hard especially enjoyed his shakey shakey dance! More bar staff would be good as being half board had to pay for drinks but had to join same queue with the all inclusive people who got theirs free. Also went to the "Square" about a 20 mins walk away a couple of times in the evening. This is an open air stage with lots of seating around it - drinks same price as in the hotel - they have lots of entertainment too mainly tribute acts ie Abba, Westlife, Queen.
All in all we had an enjoyable week, I would certainly go back.
