Spent a two week break at the hotel. Food, drink, staff, cleanliness etc all excellent. What wasn't was that for 6 days we had the pleasure of the 'Hooley in the Sun'. The worst aspect was you you hear the music from the Pendolo room even when you were around the pool during the afternoon, and the fact that the 'late show' went from Midnight to 2pm (Not good for those who had rooms on that side of the building who had to endure and suffer Irish country and western catawauling till all hours. Other than that I felt liked I'd stepped in as an extra at Craggy Island or Mother Browns. Feck. Had we been informed by our tour operator we would have cancelled. Would I go back, to the Hotel yes, while the Hooley is on, definately NO.

Room Tip: Rooms above the kitched suffer from cooking smells. The best rooms are to the front right or rear le...

I don't normally review my holidays, but when I think of how much reliance I put on checking Trip Advisor for my own ends, thought it only fair to share my thoughts. I stayed at this hotel in August, right slap bang in the middle of the school holidays. So guess what, the place was full of kids............did that detract from me (44) and my Mum (69) having a great time. Of course not!
The hotel reception is light and airy, and the reception staff second to none. I guess it helps that they obviously have some sort of agreement with Hotel & Catering colleges in the UK, and there were lots of English (and English speaking) students working in reception, restaurant and bars, but really everything we asked for was delivered with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble.
The room was basic, but adequate - we wanted extra pillows and we got them quickly, the air con was quiet enough to leave on overnight. Our balcony view was of the back of another hotel but we didn't sit on it anyway.
The food is quite simply the best I've ever encountered on an all inclusive. English bacon, oh yes!! There was enough to accommodate a starter, main and dessert - Mum loved the fruit selection - says it just doesn't taste the same back home. There was just so much to choose from, and a different roast every night. I even spied Yorkshire Puddings one evening.
If I had to pick something to moan about, I think it would be the pool. I'm not one for pools anyway so it didn't bother me, and management did their best to make it work, but when you've got English people with kids staying at a hotel, they want to have the same sunbeds everyday, which results in the 'towel issue'. Doors to the pool stayed shut until 8am, but this resulted in a queue the length of reception, then a mass rush across the pool area (reminiscent of Sale day at Next!) with towels tucked under arms. That queue of people then descenced on the breakfast room, so you have to time your entry carefully. But then with a 10min jaunt down to a gorgeous beach where there was never any difficulty in securing sunbeds, why would you worry!

The pool issue aside though - I can't honestly fault the hotel - the staff, food, drinks, accommodation, location, and of course the weather all contributed to a truly great holiday. Just like to offer my thanks to the hotel and management for an excellent stay.

Stayed at the Rey Don Jaime for a week from 29th of September after reading some good reviews, unfortunately, i must have touched unlucky, because this hotel bore no resemblance to what i had been reading about.
I'm not usually one to have a go on forums etc about hotels but i have to make an exception in this case.
The Hotel itself is ok, clean and tidy, plenty of sunbeds etc.
What let's the hotel down is the staff and quality of food, we were staying all inclusive, this seems to flag up to the staff that they can treat you like your something that they have stood in on the street, i didn't see a smile all week from the Restaurant or Bar staff, but watch them fawn over anyone who is paying cash at the till. do they not understand that i have already paid "upfront" to receive the very same quality of service?
This might sound petty, but if i was ordering a beer, i was served in a plastic Qtr Pint container, but anyone who was paying for their drinks got a glass? What is that about?
The biggest complaint that i have however was the quality of food, it was absolutely horrendous, i felt ashamed one night when one of the guests tried to defend the food to a swedish holidaymaker by saying that they are catering for the british tastes....................maybe about 1970, but we are seasoned travellers now and have moved on from Shepherds Pie on our holidays (I kid you not).
The Head Chef needs to take a long hard look at himself for allowing some of the food to make it out into the restaurant, nothing at all was seasoned and most of it would give bland a bad name.
The timer must also be broken on the ovens as everything was overcooked from the bacon in the morning to dinner in the evening,
I must be coming across like Victor Meldrew here and i'm not like that usually.
Obviously, the hotel suits some people judging by the comments it receives, it's clean, the reception staff and cleaners are friendly, the entertainment staff are excellent, but the waiters in the bar and restaurant need to get a grip, i made it a mission in the end to make sure i smiled and said please / thank you etc just to see if i could get anything from them................fail

This is now our third visit to this hotel, some reviewers will mention about the quality of food on offer, all i can say is that there is always something that is edible and of good quality, including the show meals on an evening.
Entertainment on an evening is more than adequate, although i will admit that this year it was not up to the standards of previous visits (are the management cutting back) Max still gives his all however.
Only downside are the bar staff and the inflexibility of them allowing more than two drinks per person (remember they are only half pint glasses after all)
Perfect location for lazy walks around the resort and to the beach, 100yds away.
Would not class as 4* but is a very well run hotel, my only complaint about it is the fact the costs go up every year because of the holiday makers ratings (start down grading them and it might become a bit cheaper)
No doubt will be back again next August though.

We arrived at the hotel unsure what to expect with it being a three star hotel. The quick check in was good and the reception area was very nice. The lifts going to the different floors were tiny and we had a wheelchair. They had a separate lift for that but it was still very small. The rooms were spotlessly clean but did need a revamp.

The meals very absolutely fine and you would always find something you liked. The staff in the restaurant were very helpful. They had some outside snacks but they werent covered and they were quite a lot of flies about. We were all inclusive and the drinks were okay and you could also get the choice of several cocktails. Tea, coffee and water was also available all day and you just help yourself.

The pool area was nice and you could easily get a sun bed but this was probably due to the fact the schools were back and there wasnt a lot of children about.

The entertainment team were very good and worked very hard (Max and Tom) and they got to know people without being too pushy for you to join in their games. They have various activities on at certain times of the day and its a good way of getting to meet other holidaymakers. At night there was a short quiz then bingo and after that the nightly show. We had no complaints about anything and we never actually left the hotel at night. Entertainment finished about half eleven but it would be good if they would play some disco music until about twelve. The all inclusive bar shuts at twelve.

We had a great week at the hotel and met lovely friendly people. Its ones of the friendliest hotels we have been at and we would go back to this hotel due to its location, friendliness and the entertainments team but i would probably avoid at the height of summer as it would be so busy.

Went to this hotel a few years ago with family went this time as a couple.
the hotel and staff were very good, the only downside was at this time of
year most of the guests are older(we are also) but with no young ones and
everything geared at older people it makes you feel worse.would not recommend
families to go at this time of year.
please ignore other peoples comments about the rooms being dated as ours
looked as though it had recently been refurbished.
The food choice was very good with the chef carving a different joint everynight.
The only downside is the bacon at breakfast(always over cooked)apart from that
there was a good selection. You did have to pay 10euros deposit for the remote
for television but you got it back when leaving.
we stayed half board as we go out all day,so cannot comment on drinks etc.
would probably go back in few years as Santa Ponsa is a nice place.
But would go at different time of year.

Room Tip: rooms at back seem good.

Me (23) and my fiancé (26) stayed at the Rey Don Jaime at the end of August for 1 week all inclusive. It was only a 20 minute transfer from the airport as there was only our hotel and 1 other from Santa Ponsa on the bus and we were the first drop off! On arrival there was quite a long queue for reception however the staff were very efficient and the queue went down quickly.
Location: The hotel is in a great location about 200m from the big white sandy beach. There are sun loungers and parasols available to hire there for €4.50 each. The resort itself is lovely with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. There is the Irish strip for younger ones who want to go out partying and regular buses to Magaluf. There are also family bars and restaurants and some good pubs.
Room: Our room was on the 3rd floor (there are 4 lifts available) and down a very long corridor! The room itself was simple and clean if a little old fashioned but was fine for what we wanted. The view from the balcony was of nearby streets and the mountains in the distance. None of the rooms have a fantastic view because of the location of the hotel so if that is what you're looking for from a hotel then this one probably isnt for you. The room was cleaned every day and fresh linen/towels provided is required.
Food: The food was the best i have ever had from an all inclusive hotel (previously stayed in 3, 4 and 5 star hotels). There was always a massive selection including different carved meats with all the trimmings, pasta dishes including meatballs and spaghetti bolognese, curry, paella (which was amazing and i definitely recommend!), fresh salad and bread rolls. For the kids there was chips, burgers, chicken nuggets, hot dogs etc if they don't like the other food. There was also always a massive selection of desserts including a variety of cakes, mouse, ice cream, yoghurt, profitterols and chocolate sauce, jelly, triffle, the list could go on and on!
Drinks: I would definitely recommend going all inclusive if just for the drinks. I lived on slush puppies throughout the days as they were so refreshing in the heat! Im reliably informed from my fiancé that the beer was good!
Entertainment: The entertainment was fantastic! Each night there was a kids disco which lasted about 20 minutes starting at half 8. Then there was bingo and a quiz each night with a different theme! We even won the bingo and won €226!! After the bingo there was a different act each night ranging from tribute acts to snake shows. The entertainment team did a comedy sketch show one night which was absolutely amazing and had us laughing the whole way through! There was also a hypnotist show which was one of the highlights of our holiday as it was so funny! Max and the team do a fantastic job of keeping everyone entertained!
Swimming pool: The pool area was lovely with the outside bar and seating area. The only thing we were a bit disappointed in was the pool as it wasnt as big as it looks in the pictures. We always managed to get a sun lounger however it was more difficult after about 10am. I have to agree with other reviews about the parasol situation. There definately isnt enough to go around and you really do need one when it is blazing hot! People would start queing at 8am for when they opened the pool area at 8.30am. They would then reserve their parasol and sun lounger and go off for breakfast which was a bit annoying!
Trips: We went on 3 trips. We went to Palma and Valldemosa on one trip. Palma is lovely and i would definitely recommend you visit even if you just go on the bus. Valldemosa was also lovely, a village nestled in the mountains with plenty there to see and do! We also went to Pollensa in the North and looked around the market! I would again definitely recommend this, it was a lovely day out. Our final trip was a 2 hour boat trip. It was ok but you didnt really see much apart from a few fish and a couple of coves! You could swim in the sea if you wanted. I did feel quite sea sick as it was very choppy so maybe this has tainted my view of it a little!
Overall this was a fantastic holiday and we would definately recommend it to people of all ages!
