“Good value for money, central location”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

We asked for a high floor to get a nice view and got it, with a roof terrace thrown in ! Room 2701 in the Sorrento building is the one - only down side is that one bedroom backs onto the lift but its worth a little disturbance. As previous reviews say, the lift into the Sorrento kept breaking down so it's not for anyone with buggies or walking problems. We were assured the lift problem was fixed for good but who knows. Good central location but away from the hustle, Portofino restaurant next door was our favourite eating place. Marina is a nice shady walk and there is a nice coffee shop/bar there along with restaurants. Nice eating places across the road from the apartments with views out to the bay. All round a good budget holiday with lovely weather as an added bonus.

Room Tip: Sorrento building - room 2701 great views and sun terrace.

Superbly appointed for the beach and access to many fine restaurants, cafe's & bars.

We'd booked for Portofino but ended up in the adjoining Sorrento Apartments , behind the main building. Bit of a faff to get into via a short walk, a cantankerous adjoining lift and a very steep but mercifully short incline. Arriving in the dark we found it rather a complicated exercise to find our apartment.

The apartment itself was spacious & spotlessly clean, but with very dated fixtures and we were surprised that we had to rent the air con! (3 euro's a day didn't break the bank but was unforseen)
On the plus side we had access to 2 swimming pools and free sunbeds (no reserving and no early morning queing). Reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Overall we felt our short break was excellent value @ £83 pp for 4 days/nights.

Room Tip: Sorrento apartments unsuitable for disabled or anyone with walking/ breathing difficulties Request...

Just came back from the Sorrento apartments, even though we originally booked to stay in the Portofino due to no accomodation but we were given a two bed apart instead. So far so good...until we couldnt get into our room until 2.45pm even though we arrived at the hotel three hours previous so had to wander round Santa Ponsa until our room was ready for us.
We requested a room on a high floor with sea views, instead we were given a ground floor apartment (that you had to access by a lift) that had views of a shack (known as the pool side bar). The apartment was standard with excellent air con that was located in both bedrooms and the lounge area. The kitchen needed a good scrub and renovating but as long as the fridge worked it fit its purpose. The beds have got to be one of the worst I have slept in so if you suffer with back problems I suggest you bring your own mattress, if you can fit it in your suitcase, to ensure you have a good nights kip. The room lacked privacy and natural light due to the fact it over looked straight onto the poolside bar where people can look straight into your apartment and the windows in the bedrooms had shutters on them. No need to "reserve" sunbeds by the pool as the sun doesnt reach it til about midday and most people would have experienced the comfort of the beds anyway so would have opted to a slightly more comfier option by going to the beach.
The location of the apartments was good as everywhere we went was on the doorstep and overall they suited they're purpose if you're looking for a cheap getaway however the service off the maids could have been better i.e. change the bed sheets and towels more frequently. Santa Ponsa is a lovely resort and will definitely return, Sorrento and Portofino on the other hand only if it was a last min cheapy.

Room Tip: Don't request a ground floor, especially in the Sorrento block

Portofino Apartments are situated in a perfect location and offer good value for money budget accomodation. The apartments are basic, spacious, clean, comfortable and are situated in a prime location for shops, restaurants, beach and town centre. The apartments have everything you need however some of the furniture is basic and old fashioned. All apartments in the Portofino block have large balconies (some with sea views). The apartments are cleaned every second day and clean towels etc are provided when cleaned or if requested from reception. The pool area is clean and tidy and snacks and drinks are available from the pool bar. The reception area is manned 24 hours per day and the staff are very friendly and welcoming and I would return to these apartments again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on floor 3 or above and apartments 1, 2, 3 or 4 as these have the best views of the b...

We returned 14th August after a fortnight stay here we where very happy with the one bed apartment with our two young children. It was very spacious bed could of been better though we stayed in the portofino block so we had a fab view from our balcony on the fifth floor (which we requested prior to arrival) location is good on the quieter side of the bay rights off the beach, there are supermarkets everywhere too. The pool area was basic with a small bar this didn't bother us much as kids loved the pool always managed to get a lounger too no matter what time we went. If you are going to the square its a good 20 minute walk uphill and the Irish corner about 10 minutes. We also went on day to Magaluf which worked out 8 euro in a taxi. I found the staff helpful especially the two young girls that where there most days they went above and beyond at times!
