We spent almost a week in Salou eating from similar menus in the usual restaurants you find in the Spanish holiday hotspots; dodgy pictures of the food at the door and annoying reps on the street trying to coax you in.
We turned to TripAdvisor to look for Thai restaurants in the area and really struck gold when we discovered Thai Salou.
The menu wad simple but had enough choice to satisfy our varied tastes.
The mixed platter we had to begin allowed us to taste most of the options on the starter menu and we couldn't fault any of them, the satay dipping sauce that accompanied it was to die for.
We ordered four mains and shared them, the Massuman curry was particularly good as was the garlic rice. But as with the starter it was hard to fault any of the dishes. They were all bursting with flavour as you would expect from Thai cuisine.
We found the price very reasonable; a starter platter for four, four mains, four sides, two children's meals, a bottle of wine and four beers came to €120.
Our waiter was extremely helpful, his English was very good and he gave us great advice on what to order depending on our taste. They weren't particularly slow preparing the food but I wouldn't say they were fast either, which is nothing to complain about really.
It is slightly off the main thoroughfare and it wasn't busy for peak time on a Saturday evening, which is a shame for the owner because this place should be packed out. For anyone who appreciates quality Thai food or just wants a change from what all the usual restaurants have to offer, I highly recommend this hidden gem!
