Just returned from a fortnight all incusive - two adults and three children aged 14, 11 and 10. Great hotel, good value - exactly as it is described on-line and in the brochure. Lovely pool, although there is a scrum for sunbeds in the morning. If you don't mind a sunbed in the shade you can still have a lie in... Room was a good size and clean, with separate section for the children, air con, sat tv, etc. Definitely worth requesting a room pool side, due to noise from road at night. Hotel probably better suited for families with younger children - kids clubs, playgrounds and activities mainly aimed at under 10s. That said, our children enjoyed it and there is plenty to do around and about - Port Aventura (a must!), water parks, trip to Barcelona, etc. Salou is busier and more commercialised than I imagined and the beach dirty and v busy - we only went to Salou beach once. Would return to this area, but would probably stay at Cambrils which is lovely - quieter, cleaner and more authentically Spanish. Food in hotel was good, fresh, plentiful - plenty of choice for all of us with widely differing tastes. I got fed up of the canteen atmosphere by the second week (no a la carte option or choice of restaurant at the hotel)- but you always have the option to eat out as Salou centre is just a stone's throw away. Reps were brilliant, full of energy and enthusiasm, but not 'in your face' and the hotel staff generally helpful, especially reception. Restaurant understaffed at times - long waits for drinks, cluttered tables, etc. On the whole though, I would recommend, especially for families with younger children.

Room Tip: Request a room pool side, as road side is very noisy at night.

Myself, my husband and our 2 boys (5 and 8 years) have just returned from 11 days in Salou, staying at the Golden Avenida Suites. We could not fault anything about this hotel. Rooms were lovely, as was decor throughout all hotel. Hotel and rooms was very clean, staff were very helpful and friendly, food was good and entertainment was also good. The kids club run by Thomson's was also great. There are 2 kids play parks, a football pitch, mini golf, a games room and internet to keep kids busy while not in the pool or watching entertainment. All in all, this was a great hotel and I would definitely stay here again.

Had a great time here for two weeks here at the end of July - 2 adults, two kids of 4 and 7. What made the stay great were the staff - from reception, bar , restaurant, entertainment and even maids. All were polite, friendly and willing to help wherever possible.
A ten minute walk to plenty of bustling bars and resaurants. Olivers was a good place to eat (near burger king) and The Rose and Crown bar (further towards the old town) had a good quiz with some bingo too - both friendly places and good value.
We went all inclusive and the bar staff were helpful and always had a smile even when we were awkward ordering some of the more obscure drinks on the menu! Shame the all inclusive menu stopped at 11 pm (when the entertainment finishes).
Reception staff always had time to chat and give the benefit of their local knowledge.
Entertainment was ok - beware though it is indoors and gets full early with very poor views for late comers. The kids could always sit near the front though so they didn't mind.
Food was good with a good selection, if a bit repetitive after two weeks. Ana always wecomed everyone with a smile. A curry night would make an interesting change though!
Room was well furnished with two Tvs, kettle, fridge, microwave, safe and powerful ac. No other cooking facilities though except microwave which was a pity. The maids kept the room clean and tidy though, visiting every day.
We had pool view near the lifts and it was quiet except for the breakfast rush of people heading for the lifts. Ask for a room away from the lifts if you like a lie in!
Overall was a very good hotel. Would return.

Room Tip: Avoid lift area if you like a lie in.

Visited in July. We initially had to change rooms after the first night as our room was right by the lift and staircase and also on the main road side of the hotel. We could hear right down to reception. However reception staff were very friendly and helpful and we were able to move rooms to a much better location. The rooms were great and came with a kettle, microwave and fridge. I personally didn't mind the beds but my husband agrees with previous comments that the beds were too hard.

The food was brilliant, plenty of choice and the meats on offer were excellent. Dinner is served from 6.30pm which worked out well with my 2 year old son. The restaurant manager Ana was lovely and great with the kids.

The hotel's location is a 10 -15 minute walk from the main beach. To get a real feel of what Salou has to offer you need to walk the whole length of the promenade down to the Marina. The beach is very busy closest to the hotel but if you don't mind walking it is less congested further down.

The Thomson reps were always available and willing to help and advise. I was very impressed with the Thomson experience.

I can't really fault the hotel as we had such a good holiday (apart from the small hiccup of a room change). A brilliant family holiday and I will definitely return again.
