I agree with other reviews that other clientele resembled the cast from Benidorm – anyone without a tattoo stood out….! But – you can’t base a hotel review on the other clientele.

We booked a last minute deal – which was peanuts, so we didn’t expect luxury, but for what we paid it was fine – wouldn’t like to think we paid more or the even the brochure price as this hotel is extremely out-dated and in need of a serious upgrade/renovation which I understand is about to take place.

Apartment was fine, we were lucky enough to have a high floor and pool facing. We were self-catering and only used the kettle and cups, but it seemed well equipped with electric stove and microwave. We ate out every lunch/night and took Weetabix from England for breakfast each day.

Bathroom, was fine, towels changed every other day – although they were rather grey in colour and with holes.

Bedroom had 2 single beds, and beds were hard with a nylon type sheet cover… But after a couple of drinks in the evening, who cares..! Lounge had a sofa which would have doubled up as a bed, TV with quite a few English channels.

Staff were excellent, apart from some of the bar staff who had a major personality problem. This hotel seems to have Thomson allocations, so it’s geared towards the Brits, even the reception staff and life guards are English.

Free Wi-Fi in the reception area is great. They give u a unique code for the duration of your stay.

Location is about a 10 minute walk to the beach and 3 mins to the bars/shops.

Plenty of street parking, which is free if you hire a car.

Would I stay here again – only if it was cheap and after the renovation.

Room Tip: High Floor (to avoid noise from pool / bar activities) and Pool Facing (to avoid traffic noise)

just returned from a two week stay at the golden Avenida from te 16th to the 30th sept. We booked for self catering but upgraded to half board while we was there this works out cheaper than doin it through the travel agency im glad i did cause the food was lovely although some nights there wasnt alot of choice for vegetarians but as the chef got to no i didnt eat meat he provided me with pasta dishes and pizza,s which i thought was a nice thing to do the catering staff where excellant really nice people and would help you out if needed. The day time activities where fab ive never played so much sport golf, volleyball, darts, pool ect this was great David and Anna where fantastic and great fun.Night time entertainment had a variets of acts every night to suit everyone the micheal jackson tribute band was my favourite. The bar staff where also great we got to no them all David,Sergio,Fernando,Maissa,Juan and my favourite Sarr. We went to portuventura which is a must but the water park closed a week before we got there which was dissapointing so we paid to go to the local water park this was 23 euros each which i didnt think was worth the money to be honest. Salou is a nice place the fountains are really colourful and worth a look. I would defo go bk to this hotel and would highly recommend it to everyone the hotel staff really made my holiday a special one x 10/10 catherine N,Wales

Room Tip: chose a pool view as the road side can be noisey

Just returned from a weeks stay at the avenida hotel and could only fault one area the floors of the apartment were filthy and were not cleaned properly on arrival apart from this the rooms pool hotel and location were spot on. I can not comment in the food as we were self catering but the pool side snack bar did serve up some good grub. They are refubushing this hotel for 2012 and am very keen to see what they do and another trip maybe on the cards. All in all a great holiday and would happily reconmend and return to this hotel.

from the minute you arrive at the hotel the smiles of the faces of Boris and all the reception staff let you know what you are in for(bliss) good food ,very clean (despite some of the guests trying to dirty the place up )the bar staff were always friendly and the waiting staff always had a smile on their faces.my four year old grandaughter lucy wanted to adopt princess cheese,jj and cheeky charlie.aka the kids club, what a brill bunch of girls do anything for the kids( cheeky charlie even broke her elbow in the swimming pool) back to work the next day plastered up) thats what i call dedication.the animation team of david, anna and annabelle were the liveliest, funniest (nicest bunch from morning till night the best fun ever) they are refurbishing the hotel this close season (one more star )as long as they dont tinker with the staff it will be worth the extra !!!!!!!!!!
