this was our second visit, having stayed 4 years ago when it was just half board, the hotel has not changed much, rooms are ok ,if a little small, the food is fine, good choice of dishes, breakfast, lunch and evening, dont bother with the a la carte restuarant it was terrible, hardley any choice, small portions, from the microwave, you will leave hungary. The theme park is great, very busy during the day, but in the evening its much quiter, and after 9pm you can use your room key as a fast pass, the bottles they give you to take to the park are big and cumbersome, and get in the way, but if you dont take them you wont get a drink, unless you pay,but overall a nice holiday, dragon khan is the best ride.

We have just returned back home today. We paid a lot of money for a week all inclusive, for 4 Adults and grandchild,We felt it was not worth the amount of money we paid.
We all felt this was not a 4 star hotel. the bath towels were very thin and flimsy, the rooms are basic but clean. We were dissopointed that there was nothing for the baby.no soft play or sand pit area .
We were happy at the start of the holiday with the food, but by Wednesday it started to decline we were in early for all the meals, which saved us having to stand waiting too long.
The Staff were very cheerful and helpful. The theme park was ok, but again you have to stand and wait quite a while to get on the rides.
The water park again is ok, you get in half price with staying in the hotel El paso ,we paid 12 Euros each to get in. but again you had to stand quite a while to get on the rides
The location was ok, we used to walk into salou daily, it takes about twenty minutes.
there was no entertainment at the hotel other than for the children at 9-30pm.

Having read reviews and booked and then read more reviews we arrived at the hotel expecting the worst!!
This is a modern hotel, 5 mins walk to the Park entrance (thats walking with an 8 and 6 year old in flip flops). Very clean communal areas and good sized room (double bed and bunks). Ive put opinions on the main points below:

Reception - You will queue (especially if you arrive on a bus) so if your the type of person who dreads family holidays and gets stressed at the slightest irritation then you will find this annoying, we just realise that thee'rs no rush...your on holiday!! Even to ask a question you may wait upto 15 mins (this was frustrating) - Call from your room instead is our advice

Pool - FANTASTIC, my 2 are learning to swim and the max depth is 150cm with lots of 1m and 1.20cm areas. Kids pool and bubble pool great and kids playing happy with parents looking on from loungers. The life guards were great too. Alert and plentiful, inflatables (dolphins, beds etc) are allowed in the kids pool but not main pool. Lots of kids in rings, armbands with balls and water guns in the main pool all jumping in and out without problem. Please dont read other reviews and worry about the pool and life guards!!! Lunch at the pool was basic fair of chips/burgers/toasties/pizza and pasta/salads with sandwiches etc on all day. Walls and Carte D'or Ice creams with Coke Cola / Fanta and LaVazza coffee....no complaints.

Breakfast - You select times at checkin but you can change your time if you miss it or want earlier with no problem as we did several days. You will queue to be seated max 5 mins. Given the sheer number of people the range and quality of food was great. Hot and cold selections with fresh food always being served.

Lunch / Dinner - As above, great selection of hot and cold food, meats cooked fresh etc. Chips are the 1st item when you queue for hot food so if you dont eat them move around the queue, this is not rude or pushing in so get over it!!!

Al a Carte - You get 1 night in the Coyote restaurant which is nice to sit and be served at the table. In our opinion the choice is better in the self serve and the quality is the same.

Wifi = Free in the huge reception area

Theme Park - Entry tickets are included and you use your room keys. I would advise going in the evening after dinner as your room keys allow you to use the Express Queue after 9pm saving hours of queue time. The park is excellent although the shows arent the best if you have been to Florida. As you would want the are very strict with height requirements so if your kids are even a CM below the height they wont be getting on so dont waste your time trying.

Water Park - Another great day although it was full and you may struggle to get loungers if you get there an hour after opening!! We queued for 40 mins for one slide and c10 mins for the rest. Kids loved the Woody area and again the life guards are fantastic and lots of them.

Entertainment - Great for kids, Woody / Cookie monster etc came to breakfast

Train Station - 5 mins from the hotel and takes you to Salou (5 mins) or Barcelona (90 mins)

Salou - We worked and it took 20 mins and we then got the road train back

For its 1st year as an all inclusive this is a great hotel with friendly staff, clean rooms and quality branded food/drinks. Kids loved every minute and as local alternative to Florida you can't go wrong!!!

Firstly I am a very fussy Trip Advisor fan, and I am always concerned everywhere I travel, and read every review.
But I need not have worried about the El paso as it was nice.First impressions of the hotel was El paso or Old El paso, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Rooms were spacious, cleaned everyday.Only complaint not enough coat hangers!! But perhaps I took too many clothes.Top tip for the ladies dont take too much evening wear as if you go to the park you may feel slighty overdressed.Bunk beds for the children, which was nice as they had a proper bed rather than a camp bed.Free room safe.

Pools were nice, one being a jacuzzi. Bit cold but nice by the end of the day.Sunbeds always available. Can also hire pool towels for a deposit of 15 euros each.

Evening entertainment was ok for the children.Dont expect no adult shows as there is none. But as you are only 5 minutes away from the theme park you dont really need it. The theme park is fab,we all enjoyed it.Evenings are the best time to go,less queues. You must stay for the water and firework display that is on every night at 1145,it is fab!!

Queues!!
Yes expect to queue most meal times, some days were better than others. There is a pass you choose for breakfast, was a bit concerned about this at first but it works. You can change your slot,as we did at the end of our stay as we were having to wake the children up !!
Food is ok,not much variety.Breakfast and evening desserts were my favourite.
Lunchtime you can eat at the snack bar, lots to choose from.Carte dor icecreams and cornettas all free.

Reception staff were friendly,we arrived early in the morning and our room wasnt ready till 3pm,bit of a pain but we unpacked our swim stuff and went to the pool.

We went to the water park, half price if staying at the El paso.Didnt book any other trips as we thought they were expensive. We took the train into Salou a few times. If you like shopping then this is the place for you!!

Overall I would recommend it to anyone,we all had a great time!!

Read many of the reviews on here and heart sank! Don't worry though.

Room was plenty big enough for 4 of us with huge double bed and also bunk beds. Beds were very comfortable and room very clean, quite modern and well maintained. Had a balcony although fairly small.

Restaurant (main one) was fine, don't expect anything too fancy, buffet style with the addition of plenty of fish & meats cooked whilst you wait. Kids found plenty to eat. Only downside was breakfast, queues were big, coffee/tea machines always breaking down-we didn't have 1 breakfast as a family as we were all in different queues at one time or another-gor a bit frustrating, especially with rude foreigners (mainly French). Other restaurants were a pool-side one, serving chips, burgers, salads, which was fine for wehat it was and the other pool-side bar which served really nice ice-creams as well as drinks etc.

Staff - reception very friendly, about half of the restaurant staff were very friendly, the other half a bit down-beat, a bit like staff in the UK.

Pool was excellent, very larger and not too deep, guards were great. They do blow their whistle quite a bit but only at kids mis-behaving. Our kids didn't get told off at all and they were having plenty of fun, the one's that were getting told off were the ones that had water pistols shooting random people in the face etc., so good!

Theme park was excellent, many of the rides on par or better than the likes of Alton Towers, just not quite so many. Tip-go at night, on some of the rides we didn't have to queue at all, in the day 1hour plus, usual theme park. Was really impressed with cleanliness of park, toilets etc were really clean, especially considering the number of visitors.

Water park-don't bother, really un-impressed, good job we only had to pay 1/2 price. Long queues for average slides. There's a park in Pineda that's mean t to be better.

Salou itself-a bit boring, typical 70s resort, quite nice beach though and usual shops.

Would I go again-yes I would, although we do like to go to different places each year I would have no problem returning.

Thomson as usual were excellent.
