“Wonderful hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

Just stayed at this hotel with my husband and two young daughters, had a wonderful time. Hotel was colourful and tastefully decorated in a Mexican theme being very clean, the pool restaurant was constantly being cleaned as well as the pool area. We did all inclusive and the food choice both day and night was very good. The gardens, pots and shrubs were very well looked after and full of colour. The swimming pool was huge and there were areas to swim or play with a play area in the form of a shipwreck on one end, watch out for the water pistols though! My daughters loved the mini disco at 9.15 pm every evening taken by a lovely lady who had so much energy and enthusiasm, and also worked all day every day. Each night Sesame Street characters or Woody Woodpecker would pay the hotel a visit and join in the dancing! As for the location of the hotel it couldn't be better, it's situated away from loud bars in Salou and is right next to Port Aventura Park so you could walk there in under 5 minutes. The park is a must for all ages and as good or if not better than Euro Disney.
The only negatives of the hotel were that only one small bar with a few members of staff was open with another bar always closed resulting in big queues each night. Another was when we ordered extra pillows, they never turned up. So, overall an excellent hotel which we would definitely stay in again.

Just returned from a 7 night stay with our two girls aged 8 and 10. We had a great time, the kids loved the pool but it was a little cold for me. Food was really nice, staff very helpful. Rooms are basic but didn't really spend much time in there anyway. Theme park just up the road which was really good. Would love to go back next year.

Room Tip: choose a room with a pool view and balcony

We got back 2 days ago and have to say, we couldn't fault much about our experience at the El Paso in Portaventura.

The staff in the Reception were informative and helpful, the facilities were clean, the food was plentiful and offered a wide choice (although the kids seemed to favour the hot dogs and burgers as always) and the themed Chinese buffet was lovely.

in the park we were entitled to a lunch of the value of €16.50 and it was masses of food. Our favourite Park choice was La Cantina - I think this is in another review and you got a starter, main course, dessert and a drink and being entertained by a song and dance show.

My 6 year old loved the characters and mini disco for the evening and went to bet whacked out every night

The only small criticism I have is that we didn't get entrance to the newly done up water park included in our all inclusive holiday and that, I thought, was a shame. we were told by another family that we would not have been allowed to keep a T shirt on our Son in the water park. This for us would have been a problem as he is fair skinned and even though we kept him creamed up, even factor 50 wasn't able to stop him from turning a little pink.

All in though - a lovely week and we would recommend this hotel. It's pricey, but where isn't?!

We decided to do something different this year and booked a week at elpaso, 2 adults and 2 children, one 17 and other 12. I can honestly say its the best family holiday i have had, hotel was great, staff were fantastic & if they couldnt speak english they soon got someone that could. My daughter is type 1 diabetic on a pump and nothing was a problem. The food was great and drinks and ice creams flowed all day. buses running into salou free from hotel great and little train also that cost around 3 euros each. The pool was fantastic and masive. Then the theme park brilliant. Overall the holiday was superb and i would not hesitate to go back next year...infact im already pricing it up. The only negative i would say is the evening entainment for adults is not very good and if they had something on for the adults then i could not fault it....apart from that we all had the best the holiday ever at the elpaso and can not wait to go back!

hotel was more of a 2 star agree with previous comments. Tiles around bath full of black mould, headboard scratched and dusty rooms very basic balcony door did not close so very noisy at night time impossible to sleep, Four coat hangers for a family of 4 so take your own. Food basic chicken pink inside uncooked. My daughter burned her hand on tongs in restaurant used to pick up food chef used a towel to pick them up and put them on floor and replaced with a new set no apology. Theme park is excellent short walk from hotel or free train only five min away. Hotel also full of ants. Pool was freezing daughter jumped in and back out after one minute on a hot day. Sunbeds full around pool but two people in pool shows you how cold it was. Will go back but not to this hotel.

Room Tip: noisy, dated rooms with mould in bathroom and ants in cupboard. Accept quality of a 2 star so you wo...

we have just spent a week at the El Paso , yes the rooms are quite basic and there is not a lot of storage , but I don't go on holiday to spend a lot of time in the room. The pool area is fantastic. lots of loungers and lots of shady areas too, the water was cold, but once in it felt okay. The food catered for the masses , there was always something for all 3 of us ( one of them being a 4 year old) . The stage is raised for the childrens disco, and it doesn't start until 9.15 so we only made it once. After Dinner the animation people do face painting and balloon modelling before the disco, The proximity to the park is brilliant and kept our daughter entertained , morning in the pool afternoon in the park, her highlight was the teacups and the Bubble show - I think we saw that everyday ! The only things that spoilt our trip was my purse being stolen at the park , and a trip to A& E when our daughter fell and hit her head on the floor in reception. It was an ideal location and hotel for us , the great bit is that also the transfer from Reus airport is only about 15 minutes, and the room was ready for our arrival at 11 am.

Room Tip: We could hear the entertainment from our room but it is finished by 11 , so not too bad , best to as...

just returned form a week stay at the el paso and it was still as good as the previous times we have been, however rooms could do with a good spring clean, bedding changed once during our stay and towels changed everyday. food is top nosh, there is always something to eat, especially the Mediterranean night (every Friday) muscles, prawns, clams all tasty and fresh, I would normally stay away from sea food on holiday but I've never had any problem here, plenty of Varity of alcoholic drinks freely available, also slushes, cart dor ice creams, cornettos and ice lollies all included, fresh food constantly available in one area or other, Coyote restaurant is a must, the ribs just crumble in your mouth, and service is quick, you need to book in make sure you book in asap as it gets full, staff are really friendly, pool is fresh and clean, weather was unbelievably hot whilst we where there so the cool pool was great, life guards seem to be a bit more lenient than previous years and the occasional inflatable was allowed. I would recommend paying the 49 euros for your full stay as the queues in the park are huge, you get straight to the front no waiting. We ate in the park 4 times and the food was nice and fresh with a welcome pint of Estelle. We stayed in 5127 and the room was the perfect location with a pool view and peace and quiet, I am definitely going back to el paso again next year ;o), 1hr 51 flight time from Newcastle and 15 minute transfer to hotel, first drop off and last pick up, Perfect!!!
