I have just stayed here for a week, the hotel was clean and tidy as was the room, the food was good and the bars were really good. The Apple bar showed football at night and the queues in the bars were not really that big. the staff were very friendly epecially the staff in the dining room. I enjoyed my stay so much I will be booking this hotel for next year

Room Tip: We stayed in a room with a pool view and it was really quiet at night as you are away from the road...

went to the Calypso for two weeks with hubby n two kids age 12 n 9 at end of September. what a fab time we had. Do NOT listen to the bad reveiws. this is a 3 star hotel and if you want 4 or 5 star treatment then PAY FOR IT.Room was fine, we were lucky enough to get one with seperate room off for kids. Clean towels everyday and gr8 power shower with endless flow of hot water. Air conditioning in bedrooms was fab ! On arrival balcony door wasnt locking properly but maintenence man came within half hour and fixed it. yes there was some rubbish and old drinks on stairways when coming down for breakfast but that is the guests who have dumped them there and the maids will lift them when they get to them !!!Food was fine, I had 3 courses every night ! No long queues and themed nights like wild west n italian. The Al Fresco grill was brilliant and yes there are flies n wasps but when you have a barbecue at home and put food out its just the same !! Two good sized pools which are freezing but all the kids loved them. Lots going on during the day which we all joined in, such as darts, ping pong, lassoo, bingo etc. Entertainment at night is for young kids till 10pm then its a show like We will Rock you, grease, dirty dancing , mama mia, all done by the entertainment crew who are not professionals but are absolutely brill and work really hard. The entertainment starts winding up mid oct obviously for the winter season. The hotel is just round the corner from the main strip. We were woken up one night by an English man shouting and swearing in our corridor but that is certainly NOT the hotels fault. All in all we had a terrific time, couldnt fault it. I would rate this as a 4 star.

My partner and I stayed there for 7 nights returning on the 21st of October. The hotel is basic, with the minimum of facillities. The reception is clean, as was our room. The food was average, with the snacks more appealing than the main courses. The bar areas were OK and the queues were acceptable, although I wouldn't like to think what its like if all the hotel was open, (Calypso 11 was closed). Minor trouble on a couple of occasions, with drink, or too much of it the cause. All in all quite a poor choice and we wont be going back there!

Me, my sister and my mum decided to stay at this hotel for a week whilst our kitchen was getting done up but to be honest it looked more of a building site at the hotel than at home.
We travelled on the 8th October 2012 and arrived at the Calypso at around 8pm local time and to be honest the receptionist when we arrived (Her name was Sara) was actually really nice but that can't be said for all the other staff. They are all very ignorant and I found some to be very rude.
Once we had got our room key we was told that our room was on the second floor so we decided to get the lift. It says on the inside you can fit 8 people in them but you can barely fit 3 people. I wouldn't go as far to say its claustrophobic but you certainly cant fit 8 people in so we took the stairs instead and immediately found a bag of rubbish just left there. (See attached photo).
The rooms aren't that great either. The beds are like camping beds, the walls are thinner than paper but to be fair our balcony did overlook the swimming pool.... of the camp site opposite the hotel which was on a main road. I should also mention that the bathroom ceiling was cracked (Again, see attached photos)
After all the travelling we were very hungry so we thought well, lets get some food! That will cheer us up but nope. There were flies EVERYWHERE, particually in the Mediterranean bar where the computers are. The burgers looked absolutely disgusting. The foods so repetitive I ended up eating the same thing all week; Spaghetti with cheese.
The swimming pool area was rather nice and there was some stairs that lead up to a terrace area. The swimming pool itself was a tad small and it was veryyyy cold but nevertheless it was okay which made a change!
The buffet area they have on the terrace is once again disgusting. The amount of pigeons and flies that nibble at the food is just appalling.
The entertainment was inexsistant. We went all inclusive but you have to pay for pretty much all the activities like snooker/pool. The pictures in the brochure make out that the hotel has a special bowling alley when its actually in a disgusting games room which again you had to pay for. There was entertainment on the first night we arrived but we had nothing on all week apart from the last night when there was a quiz.
There is absolutely nothing on in the daytime at the hotel so we often found ourselves just walking up and down the strip every afternoon. There are some lovely shops and the beach is just a stones throw away however it did look quite crowded. Salou itself is actually really nice and I would visit again just not at this hotel. The best part of our stay was 100% Port Aventura themepark. Its fantastic. We booked a 2 day ticket each and its so worth it. Everybody who works at Port Aventura was so friendly. I'ld probably consider staying at one of their on site hotels next time.
Please dont go to this hotel! Don't be tempted by the people on here that say its really nice because it is not! Trust me. There were several fights and broken chairs.
