“Super Salou”

Had great time at this hotel. Mainly Spanish, Portugeuse, French clients except for us which suited us fine. Reception bar area lovely and welcoming. Rooms very clean asked for extra pillow maid gave us one straight away with a smile. Had room overlooking front of hotel bit of bar noise but you are in a lively resort. TV mainly Spanish, but who wants to sit watching TV. Radio good music choices. Bars/restaurants/supermarkets all nearby reasonable prices. Pool small side but very clean lifeguard very attentive, aided disabled guests into pool on hoist. Restaurant great choice of food tried quail, veal, sole for first time. You don't want British food abroad. Free safe nice touch 10 euros refundable deposit. Resort on flat, great beach not much English spoken but please smile be polite have a go sign language or a few Spanish words usually do the trick. A tip - If you go to Barcelona take a good map!!!!!!! We got seriously muddled can laugh about it now but a bit scary when there.

Room Tip: Swimming pool view entertainment by pool at night sun in the afternoon. Side view busy walkway to b...

just got back from a week with family at hotel (April 2012), after mixed reviews had some concerns. But hotel was great.

Rooms - clean tidy rooms, usual two beds, bedside cabinets, dressing table with chair. Usual bathroom with wc, bath with shower over and sink, balcony with table and two chairs.

Main hotel - clean and tidy.

Resturant/food - if you want chicken nuggets and chips , hotel will not be for you, good selection of food. Drinks are reasonably priced.

Very few english guests at the hotel..which in my opinion was great

Main pool - nice clean pool.

Roof terrace - nice area with small pool and to jacuzzis and a bar.

Location - near main tourist shopping area, 5 mins from sea, walking distance to port aventura.

Enterrainment - aimed at the older generation.

Wifi - free in rooms and bar

Room Tip: Ask for pool view

Location
The location is great, just outside the door is a 'supermerkat' which sells anything you would need and two others within walking distance. If you turn right when you walk outside the lobby you are straight in the main promenade of gift shops/restaurants in salou. The hotel is also only a short car ride from portaventura them park.

Rooms
The rooms where very clean with great facilities, the bathroom was stocked on our first night with a basketful of amenities such as shavers, sewing kits, shoeshiner, shampoos, soaps and shower gels. There is a large bath with a shower and a bidet. The bathroom is equipped with a hairdryer but it does not work very well and heats up on the handle too quickly.
The beds are comfy but the pillows are quite small and flat, which i found very uncomfortable. The room has a tv with lots of spanish channels on with only one english channel which was CNN.There is a balcony on each room, with a small table and chairs. There is also a pull out clothes rack to dry your clothes.
A downside to the rooms is that there is no 'do not disturb sign' for the door and we found when we came back from breakfast we found that the maid was still tidying our room.Another bad point to the rooms are that the walls are vary thin and you can hear the people in the room next door to you.You can also hear the entertainment from the bar at night.

Pool
We did not use the pool during our stay but there is one on the grounds and one in the solaruim on the roof, where they also do free sardine tastings on tue,thu and saturdays.

Food
We stayed half board, the food was very good. You can chose between two restaurants to eat the buffet in either the one on the left where you can see out to the streets or the main restaurant on the right.

Breakfast includes cold meats and cheeses, yoghurt's.Fresh fruit, pineapple, melon and kiwis.Another station serves the hot foods, including chorizo, sausages, fried and scrambled eggs, tomatoes, beans and fries.Other breakfast items included lots of packaged cakes and biscuits and croissants There is also toaster with breads and several help your self hot drinks and juice machines.Breakfast has a large selection,so you will find something you like, however the majority of the juices are watery and do not taster of what they should.

Dinner
There are 4 stations for the buffet, the first holds the starters, which were all very good and tasty, there are bowls of chopped vegetables like cucumber and beetroot and then there are prepared salads that included different types of fish, egg, potatoes and more.
For the mains there is the chef station at the far end of the room, where the chef prepares the fish or whatever the special is on that day,the pasta is always at this station too.The other mains section changed each day although some were used every other day such as the veal, some of the dishes were, angler fish, croquettes, rissito, calionnis, epinadas.
Throughout the week we stayed there were 4 theme nights including Catalan, cheese, seafood and mexican. The dishes were constantly replenished,i never saw an empty dish,my only complaint was that the main courses lacked variety, with the same dishes we had seen in previous days.
Drinks are not part of the half board and the waiter will come and serve them to you separately.A bottle of water is around 1.30,they also have wines, cokes etc.
Desserts were excellent with different varieties of gateaus, flans, pastries, walls ice creams, rice puddings, fruit, strawberries, pineapple, baked apples and quince jelly.

I do not understand why there are so many bad reviews for this place,we enjoyed our stay especially the half board.

We have stayed in that hotel a few years ago so my review may be "a bit" outdated, still it was the worst holidays experince of our life ( and I "joined" trip advisor only recently).
If you are not too wealthe German pensioner you may found this review irrelevant or maybe even encouraging, but if you are not - run for your life.
The hotel itself is quite mediocre (far from 4 star), food so repetetive that becomes inedible after three-four days, staff not helpfull at all, but the major issue is that it is virtually impossible to rest there - at 9 o'clock in the evening the entertainment for pensioners starts at the pool effectively destructing any effort to fall asleep before half past midnight (if you are lucky), at 7 o'clock noises from corridors wake you and if these would not brekfast is served only to nine....
The only night of normal sleep we had in all week was when we rented a cheapest available hotel in Barcelona - and still for me it beats this one for at least two stars...
ANY other hotel in Salou would be better.

There was a fortune to find a Hotel with rooms at 3 o'clock in the morning!!!!
At that hour I couldn't see much of the hotel..but the room rates were very good so we decided to stay and paid for HB also.
The rooms are simple but clean,we had one with pool view that enchanted my 11 month old boy.
The hotel is clean and th staff friendly.
The food is very very good.
The location...very close to the sea - 500 meters or so,in straight line.
